Majekodumni Fasheke, popularly known as Majek Fashek, is a Nigerian reggae singer and guitarist.Majek Fashek first gained national fame on a television show in the early 1980s as a member of Benin-based reggae group Jastix. His bandmates included Ras Kimono and Amos McRoy Gregg. They toured for many years with fellow reggae group The Mandators. In 1988, shortly after Jastix disbanded, he began a solo career and quickly became the best-known reggae artist in Nigeria.[7] His song "Send Down The Rain" was a hit, and he won six US-based PMAN Music Awards.

After leaving Tabansi Records, he was signed to CBS Nigeria in the early 1990s before moving to Island Records' Mango imprint, a label more accustomed to marketing reggae internationally. His first album for the company included a cover version of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song". In 1990 he was signed to Interscope Records and released the critically acclaimed album Spirit Of Love, produced by "Little Steven" Van Zandt. Flame Tree released The Best of Majek Fashek in 1994. He has recorded several albums for various labels since, including Rainmaker for Tuff Gong (1997) and Little Patience for Coral (2004).

Majek Fashek is one of the increasing number of African artists to be drawn to the music of the Caribbean, specifically reggae, rather than indigenous hybrids such as fuji, jùjú, or highlife. Having grown up in a fervently religious and musical family, he was exposed to the imported sounds of Bob Marley at an early age, alongside the innovations of local stars such as Fela Kuti.


High Sierra Music has been producing world-class music festivals since 1991. An independent production company based in Berkeley, CA, the organization was founded with the first High Sierra Music Festival, its cornerstone event that takes place every July 4th weekend in Northern California, and remains committed to its grassroots beginnings by drawing support from its loyal community of patrons, staff, volunteers and non-corporate sponsors. In addition to the High Sierra Music Festival, the organization has produced events in Georgia, Massachusetts, Missouri and Las Vegas, and presents concerts in San Francisco and the Lake Tahoe area.

An intimate yet first-rate festival nestled in Northern California's majestic mountain range, the High Sierra Music Festival is a unique four-day music and camping festival that features an eclectic and boldly creative span of music from acoustic singer-songwriters and down-home bluegrass to high-energy funk and skillfully improvised jazz, rock and live electronica. Held in Quincy, CA and celebrating its 16th year, High Sierra launched as a roots-oriented festival with 20 artists on one main stage and has since evolved into to a 10,000 person event with nearly 80 performers on five day-time stages and five late-night venues. 

The Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds in Quincy provide on-site infrastructure with opportunities to swim, bike, fish, golf and hike in the vicinity of a quaint mountain town.

Each year High Sierra features a stellar line-up of national and international performers and is considered one of the finest showcases for emerging artists in the country.

Other features that make the High Sierra Musical Festival unique include its signature Artist Playshops which give music lovers a chance to see both emerging and established artists in an intimate setting; epic Late Night shows that deliver memorable musical performances into the wee hours of the morning; Grizzly Radio, community radio for the festival which broadcasts live performances from multiple stages on multiple frequencies throughout the weekend; and the High Sierra Kidzone which features parades, arts and crafts, circus performances, special musical performances, activities and games. On-site vending offers a colorful array of quality clothing, jewelry, musical instruments and other items that vendors create and gather from all over the globe, a food court featuring a delicious variety of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options with an emphasis on organic options, and Camp Quench which offers bottled water, organic juices, teas, organic wines, and top-of-the-line microbrews. Parallax Faction defies being categorised in a specific genre. The band have a range of influences which permeates their music. This includes Electronic, Punk and Post-Punk, and also some Prog. Which led to the definition ‘Electro Prog Punk.’  Maybe that’s it!
 
In 2007 the band initially consisted of Ani Campbell (vocals, lyrics, composition) Iain Boyce (synths, lyrics, programming, composition) and David Campbell (guitar, bass, lyrics, composition) with the addition of Danni Doonan (guitar) and Chris Coll on drums. Chris was recruited to boost the live sound of the band and has been a solid addition.
 
Parallax Faction are on the brink of releasing their debut album ‘Supersonic Weird 80’s Pub Music’. The album, which, is entirely DIY and homemade has been mixed and mastered. The ‘Gossip Ganda EP’ is also ready for release. The EP deals with issues of propaganda and war with proceeds being donated to Warchild.
 
Back in 2007 Ani and Dave decided to do some music. Ani and Iain had worked together previously in the band Fineline and this gave the project a sound start. The first track ‘Presumed Dead Hero’ was recorded in Ani and Dave’s living room on a cold Saturday afternoon at the begining of November 2007. This was in collaboration with Johnny Organ who just so happened to have a track he wanted to record.
 
Over the years Parallax wrote and recorded more material and began to build enough for an album. Danni was asked join after recording the guitar parts for the tracks ‘Dirty Bomb’, ‘Snowland’ and ‘His Name Is’ on what would become ‘Supersonic Weird 80’s Pub Music’.  Dave had moved onto bass by this time.
 
Ani and Iain after 3 years of trying eventually persuaded Dave to play live and in February 2012 Parallax Faction played their first gig. In 2013 Chris was asked to join for the band’s live gigs. And to give the band the boost that their live sound demanded.
 
The band continues to write, record and play live. With the imminent release of the album and EP Parallax Faction has a solid base to build on for the future and look forward to scaring audiences wherever they play.
