Mark 'DUG' Donington was on our 'hot list' since we started to release contemporary Hardcore & Jungle on Parallax, we've been following him since his very first release. A big 'thank you' to DJ Jedi, who helped us get in touch with the man! Fortunately, DUG was up for writing a full EP for us, also watch out for his contribution on the sequel to the Parazone album.

Rough production from the man like DUG who supplies 4 authentic oldskool-style bangers that sit comfortably between retro-futurism, otherworldly, atmospheric and dark Jungle.

A1 Birkeland Currents is something Bukem would´ve most likely drawn for in 93: Atmospheric yet hard-hitting with an aquatic feel. 

A2 False Policies: A middle finger to the Johnson-supporting establishment that brought us the Brexit mess - a dark, brooding tune with a glimpse of hope. Build coffins - that´s all you´ll need!

'Black Rainbows', harks back to the retro-futurism of 93 when artists like Crystl, the Legend crew or Chaos & Julia Set were constantly pushing the boundaries with forward thinking music. The typewriter-style beats with wildly cut-in rewinds, mad beat edits and time-stretch effects create an uneasy listening experience. The dystopian image is completed by an extra layer of textures of bleeps, mechatronic noises, vocals and reeces. Dark but beautiful, melancholic yet relentless. An intense ride that is not for the faint hearted!

PARA014 B1 - Sonar's Ghost - Black Rainbows

'Ambitions' creates tension from the top. Hard to pin-point it features ingredients from the whole spectrum: It has an atmospheric edge, but also includes cool ragga snippets, cowbells and energy raising effects. The tune bubbles along nicely until halfway in. Here Dominic once again proves his skills to find extraordinary samples that lift a tune to other spheres. This time it's drug lord George Jung who ponders '...Throughout my lifetime I've left pieces of my heart here and there. And now, there's almost not enough to stay alive. But I force a smile, knowing that my ambitions far exceeded my talent.' Then all hell breaks lose and the tune bursts into an unexpected full-on reecebass vs. amen tearout for the second half of the tune. A perfect bridge tune to hit people with an unexpected turn in your dj sets.

PARA014 A2 - Sonar's Ghost - Ambitions

Waves crash against the shores, accompanied by a simple and melancholic xylophone melody. A peaceful atmosphere. A voice from the off asks 'To the future or to the past?' and a lush tune with female vocals and warm tuneful subbass unfolds upon us. Just when we feel all soothed George Orwell corrupts our daydream with a toast from 1949, that now - 73 years later - sadly is still a distant future - or 'A Future Passed'? 

'To a time when thought is free when men are different from one another and do not live alone - to a time when truth exists and what is done cannot be undone: From the age of uniformity, from the age of solitude, from the age of Big Brother, from the age of doublethink - greetings!'

'I've known adventures. I've been offworld and back… frontiers! I've seen
things you little people wouldn't believe. I rode on the back decks of a blinker
bound for the Plutition Camps with sweat in my eyes, watching attack ships
on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I’ve felt wind in my hair, r iding test boats
off the black galaxies and seen an attack fleet burn like a match and disappear.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the 'Tannhäuser Gate'. All those
moments will be lost in time, like… tears in rain. Time to die.'

There´s no letting up. It´s fury. It´s anger. More human than human. Feelings
enabled - out of control. The bitter taste of betrayal running down my
throat. I´m a wild beast, trapped in 'The Chamber', shaking, trying to break
free. There must be a way out, there must be! I tried all possible junctions,
but they only lead to more closed doors. What is worth is a life with an expiry
date long gone, a program lapsed? All I ask for is a little more life!'

behind closed curtains. The 'False Policies', lies and corruption that lead society
into mistrusting the ones they chose as representatives. Slowly, creeping in,
the downfall of a foul system. It´s human nature, they are cursed! Best leave

The soft blow turns into a gust, announcing the solar winds that will soon
transform into a substorm. I recall the forecast predicted this. The 'Birkeland
Currents' begin flowing, taking on breakneck speeds. There never was a
moment of conscious decision, it´s a programmed reflex. I dive head first
into the middle of the stream, taken aboard on the currents journey deep
into the unknown, where time has no meaning.'

Based in Melbourne Australia, Bronx mixes old school jungle and hardcore flavours from all eras, crafting amen heavy journeys for the listener that balance the dark and uplifting and move deftly around the genre.

DJing with the PsyBusSpaceLounge at Australia’s Rainbow Serpent festival for several years, Bronx has more recently found her home amongst the Camps With Amps crew, and at the Run it Red Jungle Sessions run by iconic Melbourne jungle label and sound system, Echo Chamber.

Over the past two years Bronx has also contributed guest mixes to internet radio shows on Underground Melbourne with Andrew Law, and Weekend Rush FM.

And how are you all doing on this very special Wednesday ?

We have a special mix from Foot Long Records friend in the prolific mixing master of Pearsall (https://soundcloud.com/sonicrampage) .

I first came across Pearsall a few years ago a few days after I had been to a Bangface Weekender and was heading down to Somerset to paint some rooms in a farm down there, and was looking for mixes to play whilst I was working. Pearsall provided me with a shed load of daily mixes to get me through my time there, and it really helped, cheers man !

Pearsall currently resides in Berlin, and is a mixer on both vinyl and digital. His Soundcloud page has 245 tracks on it, mainly mixes of all sorts of genres and all artist mixes and series of mixes. He also has his own blog, which he updates reguarly here: https://sonicrampage.org/blog/ .

He created his own special 4-track EP titled `Squat Rocking EP` last year, which was a joint project with him and A.B. where he marked 25 years in the game through this. It has a plethora of samples influenced by all the music he has loved over the years within it, which gives the EP its own unique sound and character.

I have to say that I do not know of any DJ mixer that has put the sheer volume of specific, well thought out recorded mixes on their Soundcloud page that compares to Pearsall. Hats off you to mate, you have created something special there, bigup !!

Something That Never Existed

hello world! I'm so stoked to share my first EP as bad opera. 'bad art' features 5 tracks with my atmospheric and musical spin on footwork, jungle, breaks, and a little bit of IDM for good measure. This is a sound I've been pursuing for a long time, and after many experiments, studies, and learnings, I'm excited to have something that I feel is finally ready to share with the world.
