Forming in late 2019 and producing their first EP during the 2020 lockdown, Evading Straights have since curated their own distinctive brand of electro grunge and trip-hop. Jake’s sub heavy, atmospheric instrumentals are paired with Anna’s raw vocal stylings and punchy politically fuelled lyrics, combining to bring you a sound which is reminiscent of the triphop movement of the 90’s.
Anna and Jake take their inspiration from an eclectic range of influences such Garbage, Morcheeba, Massive Attack, Republika and Sneaker Pimps, as well as British EDM legends like Squarepusher, Orbital, Burial and Aphex Twin. 

They have recently begun to perform their material live and have received a huge amount of positive feedback.
Venues that they have performed at include; the historic Scarborough Spa, The Old parcels office art space, The Black Lion Bridlington, as well as local clubs Kings and Twist bar. Evading Straights were thrilled to be invited to record a live set at Beckview Studios, Scalby in august 2023. 
The “Beckview Sessions” is a project that aims to highlight and promote up and coming Yorkshire artists, recordings from this will be publicised in the later quarter of 2023. They also performed their first festival set at Headland 2023, where they headlined the Saturday evening.

Here i will post my work in the journey of learning music production and everything related. I hope that consistency will help me to reach a professional level of production. Feedbacks are welcomed.

Marc Hendricks is a singer/songwriter who took his first run at songwriting as a teenager encouraged by a musical family. From school he continued in amateur performance on to university where he was to meet many of the people who were to become his musical collaborators over the next 20 years.

DJ PROFILE 

Introduction

I am Umesh Vallabh, also known as Dj Umesh. I am based in Cape Town, South Africa. My experience in the mobile DJ scene is quite extensive as I have been involved in the business for close to 15 years. 
My interest in music was when I first heard UK based DJ/Producer Bally Sagoos’ remix album ‘Pump up the Bhangra’ in the mid 80’s. Since then I was hooked and pursued to promote bollywood parties in Cape Town, but being a cash strapped student and due to the difficulty of acquiring bollywood and bhangra remixed music in SA at the time, it was not until the mid 1990’s that I hosted the first Bollywood Party in Cape Town at Club Galaxy. 

The Quest

Needless to say the event was a resounding success and this spurred me on to introduce more quality bollywood parties to the forefront and unite Indians through music and dance wherever I go.
As the popularity of bollywood/bhangra parties grew, I promoted and hosted many such parties at various clubs and venues in CapeTown as well as nationally.

Highlights

Highlights of my DJ career thus far include playing alongside one of India’s leading percussion maestro’s SIVAMANI in January 2007.

In April 2007, I played the opening set for the Cape Town leg of the 3 city ‘Soul Shaker’ SA tour for Mumbais’ currently most celebrated DJ/Producer DJ REMY.

In 2009 I played for Sharukh Khan and the Kolkata Knight Riders during their IPL stay in Cape Town.

Other highlights include doing regular parties in collaboration with Lotus FM dj’s. Manic Thor, Rakesh, Deon Chetty, Sureshnee, Fahim, are among the few of the radio jocks I have played with.

My style of music encompasses a wide array of music genre and include something for both young and old.
These genres include:
