Sometimes you just want to play everything that has shaped you without a strict concept, without genre boundaries, purely out of love and fun. That’s exactly how this set came to life. ✨

Five hours that show a different side of me: less strictly hypnotic, more housy, deep, oldschool, dreamy. A journey that floats somewhere between dancefloor energy and living-room vibe full of tracks that have been with me for a long time, and others that just slipped in naturally while playing.

I wanted to build a bridge between my deep, hypnotic sound and those housy, disco inspired grooves that always get me. A mix of immersive flow and uplifting, funky moments that move both mind and body.
And while so much of the scene is running towards faster and faster BPMs, I’ve been enjoying slowing things down a little. This whole trip sits around 128–130 BPM steady, groovy, giving space for the music to breathe and for the vibe to unfold.

For me, it was pure joy to just press record and let it flow, without overthinking where it “should” go. 

The result: a 5-hour ride through my musical love, playful and honest.
Take your time, dive in, let it carry you and enjoy it as much as I did recording it. ❤️

Joseph McGeechan returns to Transmissions from the Black Hole with part 2 of his live mix series. His album is out now on Omen Records hopefully we get part 3 next year. Expect a stomping industrial powerhouse of a set from this Berlin Based Artist. Apologies for late post of this set.

Joseph McGeechan began his career in 2008 as one half of the BCR Boys they released on their own Backwater Community Recordings label and also on Perc Trax. With further releases on Synewave and Sleaze, 2011 saw them headline both Berlin heavyweights, Tresor and Berghain.

Joseph’s solo productions are uncompromising basic techno, influenced by the sound of early techno on labels like Tresor, Axis, Downwards and newer labels like Repitch, 3TH, Black Sun Records and Inner Surface Music.

iFormat has a darker, more aggressive, industrial sound. Heavily influenced by the sinister and eerie soundscapes of sci-fi and horror movies, these give a disturbing sense of foreboding to McGeechan’s dystopian, post-punk exploration of the decay of society.

Obsoleet is a journey of exploration of the inner self, exploring the boundaries of human emotion. Using dark, industrial, metallic and almost sci-fi sounds, we try and find ways to reconnect, with ourself and those around us, standing on the borderline of uncertainty, looking for escape.

To become obsolete, is to no longer be recognised. It no longer becomes relevant who makes the music, but more what the music is about. In an attempt to no longer be yourself, you choose to assume another identity. Disconnecting from yourself, to become something you are not, as you attempt to escape something you no longer want to be.

For our next Local Selection, we welcome KISST, aka Ste McCabe, to the series. The Shed Residents co-founder steps up for this week's iteration with a rhythmic contribution of knarly, introspective selections rooted in a gloomy, yet moving atmosphere.

Our 279th edition of the Local Selection invites KISST to showcase his contribution to the series. The Dublin-based DJ, promoter and producer has left an indelible mark through a host of memorable raves, parties and takeovers over nearly four jam-packed years. During this time, he has made festival appearances at Beyond The Pale and Fuinneamh while picking up support slots for Mac Declos, MCR-T and KiNK, with an upcoming main support slot alongside Yours Truly for Human Safari at the end of the month in Tengu. 

Things have been progressing nicely for KISST, namely due to his relatively recent undertaking of music production, in taking the next step in expressing himself as an artist. In doing so, it has been refreshing to hear the progression of his sound over time and, notably, where he is currently positioned. This point, where you can feel his recent discography fuses particularly well with his DJ selections is exciting, and I look forward to hearing what comes next!

For this recording, KISST crafts a journey through shadowy, immersive soundscapes where deep, hypnotic rhythms collide with atmospheric layers and gritty textures. Infused with hardgroove elements and sharp percussive drive, this mix eloquently balances tension and release, pulling the listener into a state that’s equal parts meditative and relentless.
