YOUR FAVOURITE PARK & 3 WORDS THAT DESCRIBE IT AT ITS BEST?
The Botanic Gardens here in Welly is pretty special, spent heaps of time there as a kid. I guess it's made up of heaps of parks, but my favourite part would be this spot on this hill that overlooks a bronze sculpture. It's at its best when it's late afternoon and the sun is low in the sky; it's warm, tranquil and revitalising.  

SOMETHING MUSIC RELATED THAT YOU ARE EXCITED FOR THIS SUMMER?
Stoked to be returning to Twisted Frequency for my third time. It will be my second time playing. Love the vibes and the people there; plus it's a great escape from the usual stresses of life.

I designed this mix thinking about quality time with a lover— some liminal afternoon where you’ve run out of things to say but you’re just happy in each other’s company.

Pāpāmoa Beach will always have my heart— I’ve spent many blissful hours bodysurfing there while the sun goes down. Nothing beats stumbling out of the water tired and happy, and watching the sunset afterwards.

When selecting tunes for this mix, I found myself going back to my childhood. Taking some time to reflect, mixed with hazy memories of lazy afternoons playing frisbee and getting sunburnt in the heat. Moving up through the years to modern day, an afternoon with friends dancing until the sun fades but the smiles remain.

WHERE DID YOU VISUALISE YOURSELF WHEN PUTTING THIS MIX TOGETHER?

I recorded this mix the week following the flooding here in Tāmaki so it was pretty hard to visualise anything but that alarming reality at the time. I was feeling extremely nostalgic for the sun and so sad for everyone affected, so I just tried to channel all of those feelings and create a journey to a place of comfort.

Lying on a grass patch of land covered by the shade of a tree with friends, having just eaten ourselves into oblivion. We are not moving anywhere soon. Its peak summer heat but a cool breeze is blowing to take the edge off. I don't visualise myself making this mix in this setting as moving is the last thing I want to do but rather I thought about what I’d like to listen to while I melt into the earth and drift in and out of a self induced food coma.

Wandering a vast alpine valley in the Southern Alps, beech leaves on the track, golden tussock on the flats, grey rocks in the river, and glaciers looming at the head of the valley.

FAVOURITE PARK BEVERAGE?
A well made dry heritage cider that doesn’t mind getting a little warm with some slow sipping.

SUMMER 23/24 ALBUM/JAM?
I just came across 2020's Flux and Contemplation by Simon Posford which is now in regular rotation for calming my mind. Not a jam per se, but a real absorbing journey.

SANDALS OR JANDALS?
Sandals for now, but when they finally lose contain, maybe jandals.

This mix ended up with a bittersweet melancholia about it. It feels like saying goodbye to a dear friend who’s going away for a long time.

We visualized ourselves being in a park with nice and warm weather. Feeling the warmth of the sun on our faces, smelling grass and flowers, hearing the wind and all types of birds.

In Nijmegen we would love to go to the Waal strand (beach) as nasty as the water is, the vibes were always amazing, people playing football, having bbq’s and bonfires in the evening. Here in Wellington we are still finding our way around, our go to beach is Oriental Bay, but if you have any must see beaches in Wellington, let us know!

Man, I loved the concept of this mix series, so when making my mix I really thought about times chilling in the park, over the last year in Amsterdam - so many good times and really good memories. 
I was also visualising breadsticks, grapes, and tomato basil hummus from the Albert Heijn!

With friends, we’ve been hanging out a while already at the park. Everyone’s chatting and having a great time, maybe a little sideways but not too much; the sun’s not so high overhead any more so is giving everyone and everything a nice orange glow.

Searching by Ronald Langestraat - Rich found this and we have been listening to it almost daily, it’s the perfect home music. It’s a re-release of an 80's Dutch album and it’s so lovely, every track makes you feel good!

Hasenheide Park - a beautiful, big rambling park pretty near my place, with lots of big old trees and grassy areas, perfect for group picnics.

I visualised myself chilling in Westerpark (Amsterdam) with friends, just relaxing and enjoying the sun at first, and after a few drinks the sun starts to go down and we’re getting excited and ready to party.

Westerpark for sure, it’s close to my home and I love the atmosphere there.

It’s an absolute cliché, but I love sunsets a lot. Visualised myself watching mother nature’s colourful creations with good company and drinks, somewhere by the sea much more tropical than Amsterdam.

FAVOURITE CHILL SPOT?
I think this is on the stairs that lead to the front door at my former house in Utrecht where I lived for five years. To picture it: Canal view, evening sun, pillows on the steps, music playing. Perfect.
I miss it, back then it was almost a daily routine in summer. Friends of mine still live in that house so now and then we chill there, not that often anymore unfortunately.
