As the Summer draws to a close Serge Devant returns once more to Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels with the highly infectious ‘This Moment’ EP. Serge original tracks are accompanied by a great Dinky remix, to complete this great package.

Opening up the EP with ‘This Moment’, Devant has created a track that implores the listener to stop and take in all the vibrations, effects and melodies. This is a piece of music that intricately weaves together a hefty bass, curious sounds and an addictive horn. Pay close attention to ‘In Time’ and you will be absorbed once more in an enchanting world where all you can do is follow the rhythm of the drums. On the flip and Dinky adds her signature vocals, and hooky synth stabs creating a deep and textural remix of ‘This Moment’.

Dimensions is Degray’s third release on Parse Audio, where he continues to deliver truly sophisticated dark techno. The prevalent elements of this Barcelona-based producer’s music are deep, tight kick drum, reserved use of sound elements and truly hypnotic vibe which draws you into his introspective vortex.  

This mysterious aura can be heard on the first two tracks of Dimensions as well.

Dimension Y rolls out in a hypnotic techno beat which is working with slow development and suspension rather than smothering the listener with too much stimulus. Close your eyes and let yourself be led by the kick and elevate up to the subtle synth heights.

Dimension X has a bouncier beat, but is still underlined by eerie ambient hisses - so gentle, yet present.   Degray tends to set off the individual sounds and give them space, so they can gradually impact the listener and be appreciated in their timbre and emotional effect they have on one’s mind. This is especially the case of the last track of the EP, Dimensions. It starts and ends with the mysterious depth coming from the sounds of a dark synthesizer, which is later accompanied by a slow beat of weltering waves until it slowly dissolves far, far away.

A name that you may not be fully aware of yet is that of Paraphex. The ominous and elusive producer has been lurking in the shadows, kept away, refining his craft. The meticulous preparations have seen him draw on powerful influences from some of the most eloquent and emotive electronic music acts, the likes of Massive Attack, Boards Of Canada and Four Tet.Parse Audio is providing the platform for Paraphex's debut single 'What We Leave Behind' that is a little taster from his impending self-titled album. The label was created by Barcelona based Degray, initially to release his own music but that was only getting started. Branching out with this release, there is plenty on the horizon.

Some might say that the kick drum is the necessary over-indulged ingredient in contemporary electronic music. Paraphex flaunts his production feathers for his premiere cut, highlighting the many strings to his bow, not just heavy bass drums. The track opens with light, refreshing, synthesized sounds, which he couples with crispy spaced out hand-claps. An ethereal synth wistfully floats in the background, which accentuates the delicate vocals that sidle in slowly. It's electronica, melodic and hypnagogic.
