عن المثنى المذكور فـ هو 

هو المثنى بن حارثة بن سلمة بن ضمضم بن سعد بن مرة بن ذهل بن شيبان الربعي الشيباني البكري الوائلي.

- عندما أسلم المثنى بن حارثة كان يغِير هو ورجال من قومه على تخوم ممتلكات فارس، فبلغ ذلك الصديق أبا بكر ، فسأل عن المثنى، فقيل له: "هذا رجل غير خامل الذكر، ولا مجهول النسب، ولا ذليل العماد". ولم يلبث المثنى أن قدم على المدينة المنورة، وقال للصديق: "يا خليفة رسول الله استعملني على من أسلم من قومي أقاتل بهم هذه الأعاجم من أهل فارس"، فكتب له الصديق عهدا، ولم يمضِ وقت طويل حتى أسلم قوم المثنى.. أثره في الآخرين ـ وعندما رأى المثنى البطء في الاستجابة للنفير قام خطيبا في الناس فقال ":أيها الناس لا يعظمن عليكم هذا الوجه؛ فإنا قد فتحنا ريف فارس، وغلبناهم على خير شقي السواد، ونلنا منهم، واجترأنا عليهم، ولنا إن شاء الله ما بعده

In this special episode we hear from Seth Paskin '90, Reed alumnus and co-founder of Burn Your Draft, on the motivation behind the podcast.
