Q. How would you describe yourself?
A. I can't really separate who I am as a dj from who I am as a person, so:
On my bad days: a loner and disturbed eccentric, alienated and alienating
On better days: untameable free spirit; subscriber to the forever child archetype

Q. How long have you been a part of the NYC music scene?
A. Going on a decade now! I can only hope that when all is said and done, I will have given back at least half as much as it's given to me.

Q. Tell us a little bit about this mix.
A. This mix is inspired by two experiences: psychedelic walks through Green-Wood Cemetery, and reading about/listening to Andrew Weatherall. They’re united within me, indelibly lodged in the same part of my heart/brain, and mediated through my favorite mode of expression: the dj mix. Similarly, this mix contains two distinct halves that hopefully by the end make sense together as two chapters of the same story.

Source material for this mix is pulled from Andrew Weatherall’s many mixes, production aliases, and record labels; but also songs that I've found on my own that have no connection to AW but still fit the vibe, along with songs connected to recent experiences of auditory hallucinations in the cemetery and biking home on 5th Avenue, depleted but euphoric in the mist. These hallucinations are based on memories of other times I tapped into something greater than myself amongst others (such as dancing the entire length of Powder’s closing set at Sustain Release 2019, if you need an example).

I’m grateful for these two experiences that kept the joy and meaning of life alive within me during an otherwise horrendous pandemic year.

Made with the tripper’s ear, head and heart in mind, there’s subtle and not-so-subtle nods to one’s ideal state while listening to this mix : )

As Sydney returns to the dance, we couldn't think of many more DJs as suited to host #20 right now. Tim Boyd comes in very hot for this instalment with 2 hours of jacking house and soul fillers originally intended to grace the dancers at the Community Chest spring soirée. A facelift on the thumbnail starting with a face we are happy to lift onto the thumbnail.. if your ears haven’t had the pleasure of meeting this selector in a Sydney club yet, we are excited for your listen.

"I haven't had my turntables since moving to Canberra in June and haven't been able to travel back into NSW to pick them up until the border opened in the last couple weeks. NYC local legend and anno (@ann0000) label boss Hank Jackson (@hjacksonnn) joins the mix series for one hundred & thirty, with a groove-driven mix sprinkled with tech house gems & bassy rollers. Hank has an incredible array of styles under his belt, with a repertoire of mixes online which showcase his chameleon-like taste.

No matter what the genre or style, he manages to put forward an enchanting musical journey, this one being no exception and also the perfect fit for the Animalia series.

It's a full circle 85-170bpm journey that moves from cerebral to dub and UKG-infected deep body heaters, to an all-out DnB/Jungle/Harcore crescendo in honor of the late MC Conrad.
