Premiere: EANP - Stereograms [Replug]

Super  happy to be welcoming the next 2 artists for their debut EP on onedotsixtwo. Brazil's Gorkiz and Sri Lanka's Disto have teamed up together and delivered us with a massive 2 track EP titled Stranger of Soul. 

The title track 'Stranger of Soul' comes in 2 versions,  the original mix and the deep groove mix and they both ooze melody and class with innovate arrangement on each. These have been setting dancefloors alight with their subtleties. The second track Undertown brings up the gears a little and causes maximum devastation when played. This track to have featured early support from Hernan Cattaneo amongst others and also featured on Steve Marx's Progresivna Suza mix that streamed in back in February. 

On remix duties Global heavyweight  K Loveski joins our family and delivers a masterclass version of his signature funky progressive that he is so loved and well known for.

Eduardo McGregor, hailing from Mexico, is steadily making his mark in the Organic House scene, gaining recognition through impressive releases on labels such as All Day I Dream, Moblack, Sudbeat, and more. 

His musical style is characterized by fresh, uplifting vibes paired with emotive grooves, and his latest release is no exception to this signature sound. 

In this captivating single, Eduardo collaborates with the talented Agnieszka Kalinowska on vocals, resulting in a beautifully crafted track that evokes melancholic emotions and a touch of magic. 

Furthermore, the release includes remixes by Plecta & Ilias Katelanos from Greece, as well as a delightful remix by Greg Ochman.

We had the honour of touring Roger Martinez in January for a private event and public club show. This is the recording of his public set from a Rooftop in the Melbourne CBD.

Trance inducing DJ-sets, chart topping dance music productions, sound healing meditations, interdisciplinary art-projects and psychedelically infused workshops. Bridging these apparent worlds apart, they all converge in sound artist Roger Martinez.

Roger views a club night or festival as a shamanic ceremony where people gather and have profound experiences through music and dance. During his performances he surrenders himself to creative flow, communicating a unifying experience through the music.

Drawing inspiration from anything between shamanic ceremonies, mountain treks and pop music, his DJ-sets tend to be pan-spectral, transcending genre and style.

A stylistically nomadic producer, his music has found its way onto labels like Lost & Found, Armadillo, Sudbeat, Plattenbank, GEM Records, Tronic.

Why do we tell stories? 

We breathe, we eat, we sleep. We seek connection. These are our basic human needs. 

But there is one more need we all share, and it centres on stories. All across the world, stories are being recounted everywhere, in every imaginable way, at any given time. For telling stories is at the very essence of what it is to be human. 

The universe of stories can be broken down into seven basic plots which underlie all stories ever told. Recognising these patterns is the gateway to unravelling the universal symbolic language from which all storytelling is spun. 

With 'Rebirth', Chapter 24 returns with seven stories in sound collected from artists all across the world to bring these themes to life, the seventh and final iteration in this compilation series.

South African star Bruce Loko (Get Physical, Freerange) opens proceedings with the deep, melodious textures of Cyclone, whipping up the ethereal eye of the storm. Chapter 24 regular Kieran Apter is next, making good the tension with the impactful 6.10.21 Break. Such is the power of this track that it propels the listener into new sonic dimensions.

Kostakis (Get Physical, Katermukke) offers up Xerxes, which is equally big and conjures up the dusty, mysterious and impenetrable planes of the desert. Meanwhile, Acumen returns to the imprint in collaboration with Pontias. Shower for Hours is a pumping, techy number bound to get the dancefloor bouncing before opening out into a euphoric peak.

The compilation closes out with a high quality trio. Label favourite KatrinKa delivers the typically deep groove of ABAF. DJ Zombi (Beat Boutique) takes things further down into a dreamy and blissful space with Steph. The honour of closing out the final Seven Stories befalls Hope Recordings and Soundgarden legend Nick Warren and the talented Nicolas Rada, who revisit Anton Dhouran's Valhalla Rising. Their Edition is fittingly deep, transportative and dramatic. 

They say that there are only seven basic plots but a thousand different stories. 

And so, as the storyteller utters that age old, magical phrase "Once upon a time...", let yourself be carried away one final time...

PREMIERE: Anton Dhouran - Valhalla Rising (Nick Warren & Nicolas Rada Edition) [Chapter 24]

'Open Records is proud to present The Forest, a stellar new single from Melbourne artist Liam Sieker with remixes by fellow Aussie wizard Doppel and Indian innovator Weird Sounding Dude.

After making his Open debut in collaboration with John Baptiste on our hit compilation Expansion Pack II, we are proud to welcome Liam back to the label for his first solo EP, this time featuring vocals by Alice Campbell.

A feature of his dynamic live set for some time, The Forest’s deep, organic and analogue sonics invoke vibes of misty sunrises and dusty sunset dancefloors in the Australian bush.

Taking the original’s lush melodics and stepping it up a notch with a grinding lead, Doppel’s rework is raw, powerful and another example of why he’s the hottest artist in Australia in 2020.

Closing out the release with style, Weird Sounding Dude delivers a classy, hypnotic cut that is atmospheric progressive at its finest. Enjoy!'
