Antipodean artist, Gavin Griffin, is no stranger to the world of underground dance music through a variety of guises, reborn through Particles as GMJ and his "Forgotten Wisdom". As Fulcrum, the Melbourne based artist has cast his spell across an array of labels since 2007's Open Records debut, but it is with GMJ that Griffin propels his four-to-the-floor persona.

An accomplished DJ, Gavin has performed across the globe as a two-decade "passion for deep spatial atmospheric music" gave his sets a journey-like quality. Focusing in recent years on his GMJ moniker, success has been a constant companion with 2010's "New Dawn" EP featuring on Vapour with remixes from no lesser lights than Kasey Taylor and Dousk. 2013 saw further work for Stripped, Stellar Fountain and Balkan Connection before 2014 saw the iconic "Edge of Remembrance" EP providing an "outward reflection of inner states."

With continued support from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Dave Seaman, "Forgotten Wisdom" marks the next chapter in the GMJ story as he returns to Particles with a quintet of tracks that showcases a "love for music that awakens the senses".

A delicate sense of rhythm and percussive interplay immediately marks out the title track with its shuffling hi-hat combinations. Smooth pads and ethereal melodies combine to create an impressive aural soundscape and a stripped back "AM Mix" with dominant kick and smooth melodic juxtaposition is a perfect accompaniment to its partner.

"Fathoms" continues the intricate melodic themes and delayed plucks of "Forgotten Wisdom" but a sustained deep and rasping bass line provides a dark atmospheric edge to give real depth and sensual joy.

"Silent Love" creates an instant impression with careful use of delays forming a dynamic bass groove to sit effortlessly against glossy melodic riff. A house beat with metronomic percussion then provides subtle urgency to complete a work with an overriding air of joy.

"Light Stems" sits somewhat apart with its languid bass line and downtempo feel. Smooth textures are layered as vowel shaped pads combine with freeform strings, twinkling and delayed keys, while an emerging kick drum pattern gradually raises the tempo in the latter stages to intriguing effect.

As he returns to Particles GMJ and his "Forgotten Wisdom" is sure to lead listeners towards the edge of remembrance for his production prowess.

We kick things off with the original from Maze 28 himself. We hear a deeper and more groove driven sound here, driving basslines and rolling signature sound to get things moving and opens up a dark evolving atmosphere.

Next up, we go straight to the dancefloor and move things up a gear, with this stunning remix from Lexicon Avenue. The original elements get twisted into a total groove filled start, the track progresses and evolves into and EPIC, euphoria breakdown, before hitting the dancefloor hard back into the ever evolving grooves!

Last up, we have the Gav Easby Remix, just when we thought we couldn't go deeper into the sound, Gav takes the Original even deeper, full of swelling basslines and dark atmospheric tones, puts the cherry on the cake for this Amazing EP - Enjoy!
