From his home in the beautiful port city of Cartagena on Colombia's Caribbean coast, Gux Jimenez is an artist with a rich and varied musical history. Regular appearances on Balkan Connection, UV and fellow countryman, Juan Pablo Torrez's Clubsonica Records, have enhanced an already substantial reputation as Jimenez returns to Particles after a successful debut remixing Juan Deminicis. Now making his full EP debut, "Run Only Run" is a rip-roaring opener that combines gloriously emotive symphonic passages with growling bassline and driving rhythm. Rising and falling with ease, complementary arpeggios emerge in the second movement before extending further into a bright and breezy second half. Continuing the strong bass presence into "La Noche Y Tu", a thumping kick and off-beat percussion sit tightly around a smooth synth motif that glistens with delay. A counterpoint phrase makes its presence felt, full of emotion and sensitivity, as a stripped back breakdown allows the melodies to blossom before a bass driven final section hits its mark. The third original track sees the contemplative, "Colapso" enchant with sustained chord progressions and modulated pads. Spiky synth phrases provide a marked contrast as the track revels in head-shaking bass groove and intricate percussive programming. A changing sonic tapestry is gently revealed across the epic 8-minute piece to showcase Jimenez's skill and craftsmanship.

Filip Kaczmarek has created a long and storied history within the electronic music scene with his Kobana moniker. A regular on Particles and Proton Music with countless remixes and original production work, the Polish artist's full-length album, "The Riddle" was a notable highlight for the latter in 2014. A stellar array of powerful dance material has found its way onto Particles, not least with early production partners, Yan3dots and Mario Hatchet. Returning to the label for the first time since 2016, the Kobana remix of "Run Only Run" creates a gloriously textured reworking that cleverly uses the central themes of the original and transforms them into new melodic phrases that dip and climb in perfect sonic waves of filtered intensity. Enveloped in dancefloor knowhow, Kobana's skill is reinterpret Gux Jimenez's work with skill and ingenuity.

Hailing from Buenos Aires, Soulkeys has seen a clutch of releases since a 2013 debut for Balkan Connection South America, spread across such esteemed imprints as Aethereal, Stellar Fountain and One Of A Kind. A pair of remixes for Particles saw reworkings of Sam Heyman in 2019 and Rayomand in 2020, as the Argentinean now returns with a third remix. Taking on "La Noche Y Tu", the Soulkeys remix is built around the central melodic motif from the original as he develops a sublime array of additional production material to showcase his own talent. A 4/4 beat and shaker-propelled percussion provides dancefloor character while an emotive new piano sequence is a glorious highlight at the mid-point and into the beatless breakdown. The resultant interpretation is a tribute to Soulkeys' talent and craftsmanship.

Accompanied by Kobana and Soulkeys, Gux Jimenez has sprinted into the spotlight with his "Run Only Run" EP.

Moscow and London combine in elite cosmopolitan splendour as Blanka Barbara and Mango's "Starwalk" shines brightly in the underground dance firmament. Shimmering synths light up a brightly coloured musical universe as they pitch and bend, while a cavernous kick and deeply felt bassline provide a warm and vibrant energy. Meanwhile, Fabri Lopez illuminates from the banks of the River Quinto with heady concoction of bassline prowess and percussive cadence. Familiar melodies ripple in the background amidst sonic splendour and resplendent new motifs.

Roaring into life, The Wash creates a new tension from the banks of the Danube. Glittering pianos sparkle against a densely textured Viennese swirl and powerful, fast-paced groove. A Particles regular, Chihaka returns to the label with his third original EP in the shape of "Ndarasika". Showcasing his varied production skillset, the South African artist shone through October 2019's "Nyara" and May 2020's "Pinda" while remixes for Pole Folder, Ric Niels and about : river have shown another side of his production craftsmanship. The title track is an elegantly crafted affair with smooth percussive flow and beautiful melodic riffs that glitter and glide in rippling delayed glory. A guitar riff comes to the fore in a stripped back breakdown as a powerful drop brings emotion and spine-tingling joy to "Ndarasika" with its epic key changes and mirrored bassline. Partner track "Kupisa" continues the strong melodic narrative as a pitched and squelchy synth pluck bends a path over powerful beat and shaker-driven percussion. A sub-bassline adds depth while a beautiful piano layer adds emotion to the filtered synth elements at the mid-point. The result is an immaculately crafted affair that adds to Chihaka's already potent Particles arsenal.

Petar Dundov is an iconic figure within the underground dance fraternity. A litany of releases for the most prominent labels has been accompanied by a growing list on Proton Music, not least in December 2020's "Salvation / Nature of Nature" EP and the forthcoming "Spark / Day Unseen". Remixes of Huminal and Simos Tagias have added to that portfolio as the Croatian now makes his Particles debut. Taking on "Ndarasika", the Petar Dundov remix is fuelled by a trademark hypnotic framework that bristles with analogue power as bassline and arpeggio pave the way for sparkling synth overdubs. Hitting its stride with clever use of Chihaka's original components, a sympathetic key change sees the running bassline hold sway as melodic elements shift around it. The result is an interpretation that illustrates why Dundov is always in-demand as the guitar part so prominent in the original swirls around an epic third movement.

A strong collaborative bond sees about : river continue to ride an increasingly powerful wave of success. Through a blend of dance music credentials and organic instrumentation, the father and son partnership has been a regular on the likes of Nie Wieder Schlafen, not least in 2020's "Silver Dusk" EP. June 2021's Go Into The Mist" was a remarkable Particles debut EP with its thematic flow and remixes from Chihaka and Dandara. Now, about : river return the favour with a stunning reworking of "Ndarasika" that melds the twin skillsets of Oleg and Ervin. A striking percussive groove creates a head-shaking backdrop for Chihaka's production elements to take centre stage before a huge Moog bassline from about : river enters the fray in unexpected manner. Repeating itself throughout the second half, broken beats and familiar melodies are wrapped around new production material in an intriguing and innovative new remix.

Shining brightly with "Ndarasika", Chihaka once again displays remarkable talent, suitably complemented by Petar Dundov and about : river.

Our 52nd release on Juicebox Music sees Russia's very own Forty Cats collaborate with fellow countrymen - Mango & Meeting Molly, getting together for a two-track EP featuring "Symbols" & "Lagom".

Better known to her friends & family as Christina Gavrilova, Forty Cats made her presence noted to the world when she signed a 2-track EP on Lane 8's 'This Never Happened' & followed up her association with the imprint via a remix for Lane 8 himself. She continued her upward trajectory with releases on LA based powerhouse 'Monstercat', Paul Hazendonk's 'MNL' and more recently her appearance on GMJ & Matter's 'meanwhile' + Hernan Cattaneo's 'Sudbeat'. Masterminding the highly reputed imprint 'Mango Alley', Alexey Golovanov, aka Mango, is no stranger to the industry with nearly 2 decades worth of highly influential productions under his belt. "Symbols" showcases Forty Cats & Mango's deeper side with a bouncy groove sprinkled with melodic plucks, subtle arpeggiated riffs & growling synths while "Lagom" sees Forty Cats & Meeting Molly express their most hypnotic work till date with a driving groove, shuffled hats & wonky synths, all tied together with a gorgeous piano piece in the breakdown.
