In March of this year we saw Jimpster’s Porchlight And Rocking Chairs LP fall on expectant and eager ears, winning praise from the likes of RA, DJ Mag and Groove as well as plays and support from a host of the worlds best radio and club DJ’s. With the majority of the LP being more home listening than club-focused we decided to call in some of our favorite producers to rework a track of their choice for the dance-floors and here we present you the first part of the amazing results.

KiNK needs little introduction of course, except to say that his live set as well as his hands on hardware approach in the studio has seen him become established as one of the most exciting producers of the last couple of years. When he agreed to remix Porchlight And Rocking Chairs (a track he incidentally referred to as his favorite of the year!) we couldn’t have been happier and knew that something very special would come from it. When he got in touch to say he’d done a version but explained it was done live in one take with all the parts being tweaked in real time making it very hard to change anything we were even more intrigued and excited. As expected, what he delivered is an intense, high energy reworking full of piercing high’s and rattling lows, keeping the original chords and many of the keyboard lines in place but injecting a raw drive and improvised feel which has already seen it become a highlight of Jimpster sets this summer.

Andre Lodemann provides the perfect antidote to KiNK’s frenetic version in the form of his Towards The Seer Remix, going for a tight, emotive, late night groove which develops slowly, teasing out the arrangement and keeping things sublime and understated. Subtle bass twists and dubbed out FX build to the extended break where we’re introduced to the original’s acoustic bass riff in all it’s glory. Another brilliant Andre Lodemann production.

I can't quite remember where I was when I first heard this masterpiece from Matt Dear but it resonated with me instantly. And judging by how many DJs got behind it "Mouth to Mouth" was destined to become a classic. The 10 year anniversary is quite special for me not only because of how timeless and relevant the track remains, but 2006 was also the year I branched out as a solo artist. So thank you Matt for the inspiration and I hope my take on it complements the original masterpiece. - Dubfire

As well-received as Audion's debut album—the sawed-off techno of Suckfish—was back in 2005, Matthew Dear's alter ego didn't assert its dominance until the following year. That's when Richie Hawtin slipped Audion's next single (the anthem-on-arrival that is "Mouth to Mouth") into the closing set of Detroit's Electronic Music Festival, pulling the pin on the weekend's most explosive moment and leaving everyone wondering what the hell just happened. 

Which was kinda the point. Dear wrote and recorded "Mouth to Mouth" right after a two-week tour of Europe, and in many ways, its hypnotic rhythms and signature bee swarm hook—cut in real time over the course of a couple restless hours—are meant to replicate the rush he felt in many overseas clubs.

"There was a great energy being shared by a lot of artists then," explains Dear. "I remember playing the song for a few people and it was clear something special was happening, something meditative in the simple repetition and slow build of it all."

The side-long single has stood the test of time, too, enough to warrant another look along the ambitious lines of Mouth to Mouth 10. The double pack reveals how one track can take on a life of its own in the hands of eight distinct producers, keeping its core intact without being afraid to manipulate the record's overall mood. So while Riva Starr's mischievous version sounds like it could be dropped in the middle of a sweaty Horse Meat Disco set, Dubfire lurks in the shadows, waiting to strike; and Dense & Pika crank up the chaos like a pressure cooker set to self-destruct.

"I asked everyone to treat their remix like a cover," explains Dear, "letting the theme guide them rather than the parts. Everyone put a piece of themselves into it, and I'll forever be grateful to them for contributing." 

He can also breathe a sigh of relief, for Mouth to Mouth 10 marks the end of Audion's first chapter and the beginning of what's to come with his long-awaited second LP this summer.

With a "Gold Dusted" sprinkling, Vitamindevo cast a golden tech house glow over the Particles 2015 summer. Now reprising the EP, we deliver a pair of new interpretations from two über cool artists with their fingers on the pulse of the thriving SoCal scene.

Impressing with an innate musical sensibility, US DJ and producer, Mark Slee, carries all before him across the bay area. Involved in the music industry for over fifteen years, DJ appearances including a global presence that has realised gigs in South Africa, Mexico and East Coast USA, has seen Slee charter an impressive voyage. Across his San Francisco hometown, appearances alongside Danny Tenaglia, Guy Gerber and Danny Howells has also provided a conduit for Mark Slee's reputation to radiate across the city through the Listed Bookings agency.

As a producer, Mark Slee's developing talent is no less impressive. A 2013 debut, remixing Autim for Looq has led to a further quarter century of production credits for the label including 2014's trilogy of original releases that revelled in deep house glory. Further work for the likes of Cityfox and Submarine Vibes have continued the deep vibe before a remix of Oliver Lieb opened Mark's account for Proton Music, alongside his chart-topping "Heron Sound" Proton Radio show. Now, returning for a second remix, the Mark Slee interpretation of "Gold Dusted" fuses deep percussive rhythms with his penchant for flowing melodic phrasing. A multitude of additional production adds character and depth to a work firmly rooted in the playful nature of Vitamindevo's original as new melody and staccato vocal cuts combine to impressive effect.

Part of the all-conquering Desert Hearts roster, and one half of the highly impressive, Bells and Whistles outfit, Yannick Rieffel is a man of innumerable talents. With production partner, Zack Yakovlev, the pair have found their sound writ large over southern California with appearances at clubs across San Francisco and, most recently, as part of the huge "Desert Hearts Spring Festival" at Los Coyotes Reservation. A clutch of releases spans a production career that began with a remix for Mioli Music in 2012 while May 2015's "Hands" EP for Desert Hearts went on to feature on both the Evocative and Visceral compilation series, thus marking a high point on Bells and Whistles odyssey.

Now, branching out on his own under a new production moniker, Yannick Reiffel debuts his Foolish Fox soubriquet on Particles. Upholding the sonic keystones that feature in the original, the Foolish Fox remix of "Rip Tide" is a delicious voyage in deep house virtuosity. A decadent beat relishes its carefree relationship to pin point timing as a swung hi-hat rhythm section and deep kick provide the perfect vehicle on which to carry a rich bass groove. Building to a crescendo at the mid-point interval, rhythm, melody and additional production marry in exquisite execution in the final movements.

A pair of gold standard remixes from Mark Slee and Foolish Fox have ensured that Vitamindevo's hallmark sound continues to shine through "Gold Dusted".

12 months after the debut album of Piotr Bejnar was released, we achieved gathering 4 remixes from this album. Piotr turned to the artists he most admired and who stated for him as great authorities. The record starts with a beautiful remix of the song "Bagieta" made by Ada from Pampa records. Second track is a dance version of the "Jellyfish" made by Piotr Bejnar himself. The third artist on the record is Piotr's idol from many years - Frivolous. To this one Piotr stood up to since childhood as a long- term fan of Frivolous, buying his albums and tracking his path. And now as for the crowning of the record - stands an artist closely related to Otake records – Kalipo with a total dance floor banger remix of “Jellyfish”

Baez debuts his first original release on Minds Alike with a two-track EP titled "Lost In Your Mind". The last original release by him was dated Winter 2018 with the chart-topping "Blindside". Baez continues to craft his dark and emotional style with this release.

The title track successfully reflects the dark theme with layers of tense build-ups, uplifting textures, humming bassline, and hypnotizing vocals while "Four Congas No Five" builds on its drum-driven groove with gently undulating lead synths that get you in a hypnotic state.
