Newclear Waves (Mannequin / IT)

Hailing from Rome, exploring droned out electro pop territories with an interest for a refreshing hyperactive 80s New Wave, Newclear Waves’ soundscapes seem to surround a fruitful visual-graphical imaginary which deals with mass consumption, apocalyptic visions, weird machineries, post-modernism and the order of chaos.

Mannequin is a label and mailorder, based in Rome - Italy, founded in July 2008 in order to release and distribute music mostly from the Cold Wave, Dark Wave, Minimal Synth, Post Punk, Industrial, No Wave and Experimental area.

Dear girls & boys and everybody in between,

before the year is over again, I’d like to wish you a healthy and happy new year! May sun shine upon you when you need the light and may it rain on you, when you need the water. 
I am happy to choose the first option for now, leaving foggy Berlin for a little vitamin D refill. But before leaving to South America for our Acid Case tour, I uploaded one of my favourite sets of the past year:

Just a few words about it:
I remember that I listened to music of Nicola (Cruz) on the plane and that I missed to take this amazing picture of Danube river when we flew over it, before landing at Nicola (Tesla) airport, where I had only been once (twice to be correct) before and after I played a short set not before, but after a 
Nicola(s Jaar) concert in 2012.
So this was only my second trip to Belgrade and because neither I want to bore you, nor have I intentions to write a city guide, I will skip the part where we took a very nice walk through the city, and jump right to the last half hour before my gig when I discovered this amazing Serbian synth pop band „Beograd“. No question, I HAD to play one of their songs! Choosing one was not quite easy, but as always when you happen to go with the flow, you don’t need to make decisions, simply because the moment makes them for you...I ended up playing a song called "Opasne Igre“ whatever that means….haha, now that I am writing this, I had to look it up and what can I say? I do see a slight dissent in the context here. I would say, it’s rather a "dangerous game" if you’re not going with the flow, but obviously the song’s topic is somewhat different, so let’s leave it like that for the moment and continue the journey. My personal flow-master led me to Georgia later that night. Stay tuned and you’ll hear - for the first time online - one of my favourite edits of the past 433 days: Ana Malazonia & Fiqria Daiauris’ „Magnolia“ with Andhim’s "Holger Der Polka“. This one is in fact not even an edit, it’s just two songs mixed together, with the slight difference of 28 bars, meaning that one of them starts 28 bars later then the other one. I once heard someone say: "Simple but oh how beautiful“. Yes that's true!
Of course I also had to play a track of my friend Satori, whose father makes the best Sarma (famous Serbian dish) I ever tried. It's prepared with cabbage that has to be pickled for almost half a year, to get the right taste. Yummy…but let's continue with music:
I played Djordje's remix of my track „Jorge“, which - amongst three other gems - will be released very soon on our label Ouïe. 
Although you can hear a couple other new (at least back in September they were new) tracks, the general vibe of the set rather reminds me of this: 
"Some of my favourite tracks and edits from here, there and then, stirred with a little bit of - don’t forget we’re in Belgrade! - Techno, slowly cooked on (DJ) Hell’s car fire, served with deep-fried shaman punk and sprinkled with a streak of humour.“ Drink menu suggests: Gem&Bolt

Zakmina have growed in a small city called Taurage, where he promotes local parties series "Kambarys". 
Lukas Zeringis has produced music since he was very young. After a lot of time of music exploration he came to Zakmina project and started projecting sounds in his mind into music that he describes as mix of techno, indie and punk. Now he is studying Music Production in Vytautas Magnus university in Kaunas and making the best what he can looking for his own sound. He recently release his debut EP on almighty Nein Records imprint and he is definitely one of those talented young producers with a future.

Two friends who have been throwing parties, ding and enjoying the city's music scene for over ten years. Super Drama began making music together a year ago. Since releasing a slew of unofficial remixes (made for their own DJ sets), they put out their first release on vinyl. With great remixes from INFLAGRANTI and Bell Towers, they pressed the record and self distributed it. This caught the attention of DJs they love and got them an official remix for In Flagranti, as well as a guest mix on Capital radio, Vodaphone radio, and features on Rinse.fm and NTS. The duo have an EP dropping in March on a London based label, and two exciting official remixes coming soon.

“Jack Pattern“ is the moniker behind three friends and artists Neu Verboten, ELi LiNE, L.D.R. and was conceived in Zürich, Switzerland. The essence of this project can be seen as three characters merged into one, schizophrenic-like entity. Each one of the members makes their own music, but when it comes to “Jack Pattern”, they summon their forces and synergism into one powerful trinity. 

It’s a rare chance to see this whole trinity behind the same decks. Nonetheless, we were lucky enough to bring one of them to our “Layers” event in Vilnius. Neu Verboten will visit us as a proud delegate of the Jack Pattern crew. And since it’s always a pleasure to get to know our guests beforehand, we decided to chat a bit about all kinds of stuff: his craze over gear-porn, life in Berlin, inspiring nowadays political situation in the world, Swiss psychedelic rock and future plans for “Jack Pattern”, of course.

So without further ado, here’s our little interview with ⅓ of Jack Pattern.
You’re involved in various projects. You are a part of “Jack Pattern” and also produce solo works. However, “Jack Pattern’s” members live in different countries, right? Does distance matter nowadays to your creation and inspiration?

“Jack Pattern” lives in different cities, that's right.  At the moment Zürich and Berlin, but soon there will be another city/place which will be inhabited and discovered by one of us. As I like to say, no borders, no nations. We all like to travel and make new experiences. I am glad we have this privilege. There are three of us: me as Neu Verboten,  ELi LiNE, L.D.R., and these are three different projects that come out of Jack Pattern. We have new stuff is coming up soon from “Jack Pattern” on its own label “Lustpoderosa”. I am creative director of our label and I am also involved in the “Rhizom” Festival in Zürich , a non profit Festival with the aim to reclaim club culture for more ethical based content... New mixes comes courtesy of Fotini Kappa aka Pasiphae. Those in love with Greek mythology would probably know Pasiphae is the daughter of Hélios and Persé, sister of Éétès and Circé, bride of Minos (king of Crete), and notoriously the mother of the Minotaur ! Also, in old greek, the name Πασιφάη means roughly "the one who shines for everybody".
Born greek but now living in The Hague, a city that clearly inspired her sound. Murder Capital-like but contemporary sounds, mutant alien funk, horror-fired dancefloor dystopia and skewed electronic soundscapes is what she does best. Together with legendary The Hague DJ Intergalactic Gary she produced "Made Of Glass" EP on Paul du Lac’s "Bio Rhythm" label before flying solo with "Siphax" on Interstellar Funk’s "Artificial Dance". Recently you could also discover her on remix duties for cult greek artist Lena Platonos on Dark Entries imprint. More to come for this rising talent and we're glad to have her on board !
