Surf Rock City is the second single from Love in October's new album SHAPES which will be released February 15, 2019. On this album, the band is reflecting on the state of the world, love, memories, uncertainty and the future.

Love in October is an indie rock band from Chicago, IL that blends lo-fi fuzzy guitars, pop hooks, and a broken drum machine taking inspiration from bands like the Strokes, Pixes, Nirvana, and Modest Mouse in a 2019 setting.

The band consists of Swedish native brothers Erik (guitar, vocals) and Kent Widman (bass), who nowadays make their mark on the Chicago indie rock scene. What Chaos is Imaginary

I wrote this song when I was driving from New Orleans to Nashville (where I now live) for the first time. I had started the second leg of a 60 day US tour in my 1983 Dodge Camper Van. My bandmate/boyfriend had just left for another tour and I was on my own for the first time. It was an incredibly freeing feeling. Earlier that same year I had quit my day job working in insurance to do music full time, bought said camper van, and planned this tour. I manifested that exact moment; it was bad ass.

The blue hour is the transitional period between day and night, or light and dark if you will. This represents the overall metaphor within the song. The song is about someone being split in half, just like the blue hour, eventually falling deeper into darkness.  Nothing lasts forever.

Combining influences such as New Order, Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears & Soft Cell, FEHM are a five-piece band from Leeds who create music that is ‘Startlingly brisk and wholly stark' (Clash). 

Part of Leeds’ ever evolving, close knit DIY community their debut EP ‘Circadian Life’ released on Art Is Hard Records in late 2016 & 2 double singles in 2017 & 2018 Human Age/Last Breath & Scarborough Warning/The Sea To Come were described by DIY as ‘Cut through with searing white heat…a fearsome stride forward’.

The band have recorded their debut album in July/August 2018 with Matt Peel at The Nave. This sees the band fully embracing their ever-expanding sound and venturing further into the darker sonic depths that their last releases hinted at. Whilst layers of synths, guitar melodies and driving bass lines wind and fall underneath Paul’s stark and melodic vocals.

“Lullaby” is an ambient drone track inspired by the ‘Sleep rave’ scene in Berlin. Lie down, stare at the ceiling or close your eyes, and let the sounds envelop you like a warm blanket. 

Recorded on a Moog System 55 Modular Synth at the Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio in Melbourne, Australia (December 2018) and edited in my Neukölln studio in Berlin, Germany (January 2019).
