Philadelphia is known for its remarkable talent especially in the music scene.  Jessica Marie Gomez, born on February 28, 1996, is a Puerto Rican R&B/Pop singer, song-writer from North Philadelphia dedicated to her passion of singing since she was 10 years old.  Jay Marie, her preferred stage name, is only a mere 18 years of age and has much to be proud of as she has already accomplished so much in her professional music career despite so many obstacles growing up.  Even though her favorite singers are Whitney Houston and Celine Dion, vocally she has been compared to the late Teena Marie and Christina Aguilera.  

After being encouraged by many friends to audition for a competition being hosted by a college in another state and knocking the judges away with her talent, Jay Marie became the 2014 winner of “Delaware’s Got Talent,” hosted by the University of Delaware against 20 other young adults with proceeds benefiting the Delaware Valley Levy Committee.  Not only was she the youngest contestant, but she was also the only non-college contestant to win.  

Jay Marie’s accomplishments in state are just as amazing. Not only has she gained a sponsorship from the major sneaker company, Reebok, but major performances include Telemundo’s Christmas Special as well as a boxing match featured on Comcast Sportsnet and singing the National Anthem for sports games at local Universities.  No performance is too big or small for Jay Marie, as she has performed at multiple venues of different sizes and for diverse audiences in the Philadelphia area.   The biggest show to date has been opening up for the Island Def Jam/Roc Nation artist Luke James in August 2014 at the Red Bull Sound Select Show curated by Veteran Freshman in Philadelphia.  She has most recently been nominated for New Artist of the Year in the 2014 Philly Hip Hop Awards. 

Although Jay Marie experienced much adversity as an adolescent, including child abuse, homelessness, and an unsupportive family, she still managed to graduate from Central High School on time.  She uses her story to serve as a mentor and talk to middle schools, high schools, group homes and kids in shelters in order to shed light on her story and the notion of speaking up, staying positive, and never giving up on your dreams.  

With the help of her manager, Tyrone Crawley Jr., both are working relentlessly to get her name and songs to the public. At such a young age, she is focused and determined to develop and perfect her vocals and become successful.  She works with producer and Blake Winters at Rotation Records extensively.  Look out for this new and beautiful talent by the name of Jay Marie!
