The prequel to a mix i've been working on for about three months which will be titled "Acceptance of an anxious mind". The second instalment is by far the most demanding musical assignment I have undertaken which I think will be the best thing I've ever done.. once I'm finished.

Pat Tassone - Headspace

This mix has been something I've been working on for over a year. 

After an out of the blue mental breakdown last May, I was left with a serious anxiety condition. It has been by far the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with and my anxiety has taken away a lot of things I love dearly, most relevant to this was the loss of my creativity and the ability to play music in public. 

I turned to this mix as a way to help me through my emotional and mental rebuild and after many months of effort it unfortunately became a block and almost impossible to finish... a symptom of my overall health and ability to create or accomplish. 

The last month I have been doing everything and anything I could to try and help myself get through this tough stretch of life. While so focused on my wellbeing I also decided to set myself to creative goals, to finally finish this mix and also a Wildwood Podcast next month. 

I am so happy to say that I finally finished this one! It was not easy and I don’t even know if it’s good as I’ve spent so much time struggling over it. This mix was always a tool to try and help me deal with some of the things that I needed to.  I am happy that it is done now and it sounds the way it always needed to.

Acceptance Of An Anxious Mind

After seasons of cultivation, it is with absolute pleasure I can now share the birthing of a new creative project Aloy Sōl.

Aloy Sōl is the combination of two passionate minds (Jem Bray & I) forming to create an intricately detailed immersive experience harnessing sound and vision. By performing side by side cultivating the experience in partnership this is far beyond any DJ/VJ show. Aloy Sōl is a carefully constructed and curated performance art piece pairing sound and light in perfect harmony.

As a pair of like-minded creatives born on the same day we felt that the combination of two metals (Alloy/Aloy) and sharing the same rotation day around the (Sun/Sōl), Aloy Sōl was the right representation. 
It was with great pleasure and privilege we chose to perform our initial show recently at the long anticipated Wildwood Reunion.  After the performance being positively received and with such connection this has given Aloy Sōl much more oxygen to the already ignited flame of the future. Having both been around this industry a while which has given us another amazing opportunity to create something unique and special. 

On a personal… FUCK!! Have I missed Wildwood…. I have missed the love, sense of belonging, fun, satisfaction and SURGE of creative energy afterglow. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have not felt this inspired and “like me” in years and I have my Wildwood family to thank for that.

Three years apart and it was like we never left. Wildwood baby!

Aloy Sōl (Pat Tassone & Jem Bray) @ Wildwood - The reunion

I was extremely happy to start my new year playing at Piknic Electronic in Melbourne and to be given the opportunity to warm up and set the stage for Khen and Sasha.

Was really pleased with the response to the set. Its a fine line between getting the party started and stepping on the toes of the acts to follow. I choose to move in and out of of energetic phases to get the dance floor moving but not as to tire themselves out. 

By the end of the set the vibe was great and the dancefloor was ready to explode for Khen, a job well done. As always thanks to everyone for the kind words and support.

Pat Tassone @ Esoteric Festival 2023 (Bushtechno Stage)

If I could play at one place for the rest of my life it would be Wildwood, there is nothing quite like this dance floor. 

A dance floor full of open minded souls ready and willing to let you take them wherever you see fit, full trust and patience. The perfect place for my full transition into Alōy Sol, a coming together of the artist I have been for over a decade and the new one that is emerging post pandemic. A little bit deeper, a little bit heavier but still full of love.

This one I'll remember for a long time. It was an amazing experience opening our Wildwood showcase at Rancho Relaxo. 

This one starts out slowly to really reset the vibe for the showcase and builds progressively with lots of melodies and emotions.

Last weekend I had the privilege of playing  Babylon festival 2018. It was a real honour to grace the main stage once again, this time warming up for Agents of time who were then followed by Laurent Garnier, Shadow and obscure shape and Pan Pot.

Ive been a fan of Agents of time for quite a while so I thought I had a pretty good idea of how the stage should be set for them. They play a very unique style of techno, very progressive and full of melody. I wanted to work into that while also respecting the day time time slot and second set of the festival.

Babylon Festival 2018 - BLOC Stage (Agents of time warmup)

Another Wildwood done and dusted and as always it was another epic weekend full of amazing music and even better people. 

At Wildwood-stock I got the opportunity to play 6-9pm on the Saturday night, sunset. The sunset slot is always a special one at Wildwood as the transition from light to dark lends itself to a broader range of genres  and musical direction, especially when the darkness falls. . Just as importantly its also when everyone returns back to the nest after a epic day of adventure and discovery, ready to dance it all out. 

It was a really powerful part of the weekend to be a play a big part in  and its honestly one of my favourite sets I've ever played. The last few months Ive felt more in control of my music than any time over the past ten years and I feel this set represents that.

Live from Wildwood - Pat Tassone @ Wildwood-stock (31/3/18)

I said to myself at the start of the year that I would release a recording or podcast at least once a month for the duration of 2018.  May has rolled around so I thought I would use the opportunity to put some new music out and also prepare and submit a subsonic application.

This mix is a really good reflection of where my music sits at the moment pulling from deep house, progressive house and techno to create a beautiful mess of soundscapes. I would describe this particular mix as a deeper take on all the above genres with some "glitzy" elements, picture this the Saturday day or night at any of the big festivals in Australia.

Had a lot of fun putting this together so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.. lots of love..

Very excited to be able to finally release my latest Wildwood set from our latest party, The Wildwood West. Its without a shadow of a doubt my favourite place to play on this earth and its always an immense honour to close out the entire weekend which i got to do for the first time in a year. 

The closing sets are incredibly special but always challenging, they require a delicate approach as you really want to try encapsulate the whole weekend with a piece of music. The highs, the lows, the fun, the emotions, the artists that went before you... all of it. It was winter, so this mix is suitably much darker but I still wanted people to be hugging each other at the end. 

For those that were there i really hope this piece of music did all of the above, as always it was an absolute honour to share this 160 minutes with you all. Much love and respect.

Live from Wildwood - Pat Tassone @ The Wildwood West (Closing set)

Its been a while between mixes but I'm very happy to finally be able release Sunset, part one of a two part series which will also include one titled Sunrise. 

I honestly couldn't be happier with how this mix turned out. To me its a great reflection of how music can transition with the time of day. Upbeat and warm with the sun, slow and moody as the light fades, heavier and darker as we move into dark. 

Ive been lucky to find some amazing music recently and a lot of those tunes have been included in this mix. I tried to stay away from traditional progressive sounds as those soundscapes will be a big piece of Sunrise. This one has a lot of deep house and techno..

Once both are done one of them will be sent off as my y application for Rainbow Serpent 2019.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did putting it together. Ill chuck a track list up in the next few days.

We had the absolute honour of being asked to do a Wildwood showcase at this years Burning Seed, to make it even more special our night started straight after the man burnt.. 

To say it was an unforgettable night is an understatement, so many friends old and new helping create a vibe that reminded me so much of our home... Wildwood. It went off!!!

Infinite gratitude to the amazing people behind babylon, your hard work gave so many people at the festival including ourselves a lot of joy. Thank you!

What a day, what a party, Day Doof was exceptional!

A day of absolutely stunning music right from start. My Wildwood brother Ekbalu set the stage perfectly... What followed was pure madness with Davi, Khen and Sebastien Leger all blowing the lid off the place, it was truly amazing scenes. 

I had the honour of taking the reigns after the trio of internationals playing after Sebastien Leger,  one of the absolute legends of electronics music scene. It was an absolute honour and something ill never forget. Here is my set...

Only a few days ago  I had the honour of playing on the Rainbow Serpent Market Stage.... the best best sound system in the world and the best dance floor on earth. 

To say this was a beautiful experience is an understatement, Ive created so many memories on that dance floor and to be the pilot behind the controls for that moment in time is something ill remember for the rest of my life. 

A massive thank you goes to the people who make Rainbow Serpent possible, you have changed the lives on many and have created a space where people can truly be themselves. I am forever grateful

Pat Tassone @ Babylon Festival 2019 (Hanging Gardens Stage)

Without question our annual New Years celebration is my favourite week of the year. Five nights of music, workshops, fun, food, love and community. This event was truly a special one and possibly the best yet, everything was perfect and the magic was palpable. 

I was lucky enough to play in the forest on New Years Eve after our very special guest Roger Martinez. The day started with Progressive house and was to end with Techno, I was the bridge in between so you can expect a bit of everything.

Our 16th Wildwood event was another extremely special occasion, this private and intimate gathering has given so many people so much and it still continues to do so. Amazing music, food, art, people and heart... there is nothing more you need.. Wildwood, you did it again!

On the 19th of May I had  the pleasure of playing in support of Monkey Safari in the famed cage of Revolver Upstairs. 

I deeply respect Monkey Safari as artists and Thick As Thieves as promoters so this really was an honour to be able to perform at this show. 

I played 12.30-2.00PM and subsequently this set has a bit of everything .Proggy at the start, some vibier stuff in the middle, and some deeper stuff at the end to set up Bec who was warming up for Monkey Safari.

Wildwood Podcast #101

Very excited to share another recording from the Victorian Bush, this time for the amazing community gathering, Elysium. 

A huge thanks to team who made this event happen, hats off on an incredible effort... it was truly a joy to play some music at your creation. 

I have no idea what to put as the genre for this set, there is a bit of everything. Playing 10 - 11.30am I really wanted to build into something slow, I knew the night before was going to take a lot out of the audience so it was important to be patient and let them find their groove. 

Happy to report by the end of the set the dance floor was jumping... mission complete.

It’s been a real honour to put this mix together, a cathartic and healing process that culminated in me playing music on the property I grew up on and love dearly.

Finding motivation and inspiration for music in 2020 has not been easy, especially being based in Melbourne. When I was asked to put together this mix I found it hard to piece together what I wanted to get out of this it.

Having been in lockdown for months I could not stomach the idea of recording this in my house, I needed something to play for. 

That is when I first pictured recording this set at my parents property, the place I grew up, a place where every tree I helped plant, where every fence post I helped dig in... a place that I love more every time I go back. 

This mix is a love letter to that place, filled with gratitude to the land, my parents, and the man I’ve become from growing up there.

Musician, Co founder of Wildwood and head curator of the @wildwoodpodcastseries. 

Pat Tassone is an electronic music artist from Melbourne, Australia, co-founder of community events company Wildwood, and founder and co-curator of the Wildwood Podcast Series. Over his fifteen-year career he has supported many of the world’s leading acts and played at most of Melbourne’s prestigious festivals, clubs and parties.

Some of his more notable performances were on the Market Stage at Rainbow Serpent Festival, main stages at Babylon Festival, Burning Seed Festival and closing sets at the legendary Wildwood gatherings. Also included are warm up sets for Sasha (UK), Khen (ISL), Marc Romboy (GER) Thylacine (FRA) and Agents of Time (ITA), and warm down sets for Sebastien Leger (FRA), Roger Martinez (NED), Jeremy Olander (SWE), and Stephan Bodzin (GER).

With a style, hard to lock into one particular genre his music can be described as a unique blend of Progressive house, Deep House and Techno. Each set is a carefully crafted journey that differs from the last, patience and timing are key with each track playing its role in creating the atmosphere and flow.   

His passion for music has played a huge role in the success of the Wildwood Podcast Series. It is now one of the premier electronic music podcasts in Australia and is one of the most respected podcasts worldwide.
