About the album... 
In 2020, after the release of Trans Love Vibration (NAIVE, 2018) and Transcendental Access Point (Interdimensional Transmissions, 2020), Eris moved from her hometown of Chicago to rural New Hampshire and recorded the nine beautiful songs featured here. Her first album feels something like her DJ sets, with stacked layers of vinyl samples and turntable manipulations serving as a fast-moving foundation for hand-played keyboard riffs, walls of percussion and sampled, scratched and strummed guitar tones. On each song for the album Eris expresses the anxiety and hope of her present. She wrote, recorded, and mixed the album as she stared into the forest through her studio window, collapsing present and past into future, her memories and body literally quivering in time.

The songs are cast with Eris’s experiences and intentions. The plucky progressive Loving Clav is in the form of an evocation (“good times come to me now....”), while the tracks Time to Move Close and Show U LUV express Eris’s longing for togetherness. The hardcore Pick ‘Em Up (“...and it might be a different story”) and organ-heavy Ride Free are funky odes to psychedelics, hard dancing and the subjectivity of real lived experience. The twinkling house of Howling Wind and the tempo-shifting bop of Sensation capture the mystery of the forest cabin where Eris spent most of the last 15 months. Two booming hip house dubs round out the album, Baby and Quivering in Time, each an itchy track about hope and personal resilience. As with her prior work, Eris’s approach to music making is unique and genre-dissolving. Ultimately, her special sound is a metaphor for her main message, which is that every person deserves to be themself.

This particular melody is a jumble of spicy vocal samples, cheesy horns, crunchy drums, and full-bodied orchestral sounds. It tells the story — well, it MAY tell the story — of a peppy adventurer, bouncing forth into realms of colour and oomph, returning changed, and fondly remembering the whole thing years later as a biodegradable plastic bag whose time has come at long, long last.

Landscapes

A screaming, jumping, upbeat dance track, punctuated by bouncing vowels and cartoon sound effects. Full of fun, grunts and weirdness, like the Prodigy from a sillier universe.

Fire Extinguisher

Fire Extinguisher (Pistachio)

This track is based on an old herding tune. They were usually played by women – on horn – for calling the cows home. This one was played by Anders Frisell in Mockfjärd, Dalarna, who probably had learned it from his mother or grandmother. The tune was documented for the archives in 1908 but is most likely much older.

Since herding tunes are generally rather short, I have composed an additional section to the melody. I play the melody on my EVI. All sounds except drums are from the Nord Modular G2, using patches I have programmed myself. All parts except a part of the lead melody (see above)are composed by me.

We Just Want to Help (Cashew)

A robot sings alone, squeaking a simple waltz to the starlit city as it trundles along the footpath. The vibrations of its metal heart attract more voices, shy, kind, and warm, and before long they arrive at the ball!

Debutantes! Chandeliers! The ballroom turns out to be a glittering space capsule! The walls are glass. Doors in the mothership slide open, the capsule glides through a passage, and in an invisible moment, everyone is dancing among the stars.

We are saying goodbye to the builder because, brick by brick, he is building a staircase, and, step by step, ascending it as he builds. He draws each brick from a bottomless sack, building forever, climbing infinitely into the wide and wondrous cosmos. 110 BPM

This is a cover of Mike Oldfield's arrangement of the traditional Christmas song. Why this version? Because the original is as boring as a dog's ass. Plus I wanted an excuse to learn the guitar solo :)
