The second release in our Anniversary Remixes campaign sees one of our most iconic tracks, ‘Downpipe’, reinterpreted by the world’s No.1 DJ Armin van Buuren, Techno veteran Adrian Hour and new kid on the block Bontan.

‘Downpipe’, the collaboration between our label leader, Mark Knight, master of production, D.Ramirez, and legends of dance music, Underworld, is a landmark track in the history of Toolroom Records. Crowned Essential New Tune on Radio 1 by Pete Tong and forming an integral part of the soundtrack to the opening ceremony of the London Olympics last year, it is still receiving overwhelming support today.

Heading up The Anniversary Remixes of ‘Downpipe’, superstar DJ Armin van Buuren delivers up a euphoric, unstoppable, big room remix that is set to take to the throne & join the original. 
Adrian Hour presents a techno workout that is completely relentless, energetic from the off the intensity doesn’t let up resulting in a peak time gem for the underground. Finishing up the package is UK wonder kid Bontan, following his recent Top Ten he continues his reign delivering a stripped back bass line workout with Karl Hyde’s vocals cleverly chopped into the groove.

Steve Lawler - Do Ya (Hot Since 82 Remix)

Sometime in early 2000 or so, me and Mike P were chilling at his London temporary studio at the time, and anyway, we were smoking a spliff and talking about how awesome my demo was.  I was recording to cassette tape at the time and wanted to show off this cassette player mod I did to record in high-res but keep lush cassette tape overdrive compression (basically a potentiometer and cap mod to up tape speed 10x), and I didn't have any empty tapes on me.  So he hands me an old tape labelled "Old shit", which he states has nothing on it.  So we record some jams to this tape, nothing is thought of it.  But then I get back home to Tokyo and flip the tape a few months later, and on it, are some tracks from 1982 apparently, because he states so in his blabbering about Doctor Who and some new wave bands.  But this is one track that I thought stood out, and since Mike P has been releasing his old tracks from this time, I thought he wouldn't mind if I uploaded this gem from 1982.  Hasty Boom Alert, the origins.  Enjoy!

The two brothers of GEBRÜDER TEICHMANN have been regular guests at the early KILLEKILL events. That’s because they have a very similar approach to electronic music as we do. First of all they are deeply in love with the music itself and not the fame, the money or whatever one might expect to get when making music, and second they have a wide musical horizon and interesting perspectives on it, because they are active on several levels, as djs, musicians, promoters etc. First of all though they got class and taste, and so we are happy to present their cooperation with one of our personla heroes and one of the very big names in early house music: JOHNNY DAN- GEROUS aka FOREMOST POETS.
With many Chicago greats, Johnny is One of the inventors of The Deep House Sound through
his own blend of future funk & spoken word. In 1990, he released his first underground hit single “Reasons To Be Dismal?” on Nu Groove/SBK Records. A few years later, Johnny dropped the atomic bomb “Problem 13 (I Beat That *itch With A Bat)” in 1993 and orbited into the Dance Music Hall of Fame. Since then, the name carries great respect in the underground throughout the entire world. When Johnny’s striking voice appeared on his release “Moonraker”, he set a new standard for DJs around the world.
Together with Johnny the TEICHMANNs have produced “TIME’S ALMOST UP!”, an acid house anthem that transports well the energy of Johnnys early works: funky, trippy and positive, a dance- floor with a consciousness that’s rare nowadays.
LOSOUL, one of Germany’s finest house producers, delivers a reduced and even more tripped out version of the original.
