Critically Massive Set 2/9/2022

Performing for over 20 years, BillyO created a following in his early days by distributing his mixes, and performing at underground events.  In the early 00’s he joined True Family Unit Recordings, performing at and hosting raves, undergrounds and Club nights throughout Chicagoland.  House music has always been his main focal point.  His sets are a mix of slapping hard knocks, disco edits, acid basslines, and deep introspective vocals.  Some of his favorite mixes can be found on his Soundcloud account.  BillyO has been busy over the past few years.  His mix Perseverance was featured on a new Housepit Chi mix tape series.  He’s been organizing and hosting events for True Family Unit recordings, with a focus of increasing the number of releases on the record label.  He joined the Northern Lights Crew as a trusted advisor and is an active artist on the roster.

I started out in '97 when I got my first decks and a couple records. All these years later its still my passion. After having upgraded the setup many times, I am happy with where I am currently. With a heavy heart I've had to trim down my collection of 800 or so records to just the best of the best. With the introduction of digital, I have been one of the last DJ's to make the change. Now I am intermingling old tracks and new tracks to share a bit of my soul with the listener. Ive played at most of the bars in Durango and had a few appearances at scattered festivals around town, but its not the limelight that I seek; its that unpredictable moment when the crowd and the DJ connect. And the way we felt the first time we heard the music........

Born and raised in Chicagoland, started djing at the age of 16. Progressed to Event Production and Management, with partner and sister, Melode, by age 17, under Flashback and Smooth Movement Productions, LLC., well-known for several of the finest, and largest, productions of their time (99-2000). Events Flashback 1 & 2, Spin Cycle, and Family Life, are just a few. Today, djing is still a passion as much as ever and spice to life, in addition to other professional associations, including scientific beekeeping, from the Dr. DJ, who has a PhD Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics, and involved in ongoing habitat restoration with family and friends..
