Solid 25 Steel (Special 25th Anniversary Mixtape) '2013

Future Shock was a 2hr mix that DJ Food cooked up for an online 'pirate' radio station a couple of friends set up earlier this year called Altar Ego Radio. Billed as 'Music from the Future you remember from your Past', he mixed sci-fi electronica with a retro feel from Jokers of the Scene, Falty DL. The Books, Sculpture, Nico Motte and Jeremy Schmidt. Here's the first hour, exclusively sans the chat of the original broadcast which was hosted like a regular radio show. Much like his recent Magpie Music mix of a few weeks ago he intends to expand on these themes in forthcoming Future Shock mixes focussing on the more electronic side of his current tastes. 'Verschwurbelt' is a German phrase I use to describe this style of Jazz. It's a slang word that means: complex, muddled or wooly. It's a word I think most accurately describes the sound.

Remember The Future

It all started with the song "Storm" featuring Edan and Mr Lif on my debut Warner Bros LP The Audiences Listening. The song I sampled was by a french group called Vox Populi. I contacted them and their associates Pacific 231 to hear more material from the same time period. Heres what they gave me. Here is a sneak peak. It will be released officially this winter.
