HALO All night long at Shelter Amsterdam | June 2, 2023

This is a one hour recording of the HALO all nighter last December at Shelter Amsterdam. Where you would normally see a set climb upwards all night, we went the opposite way of ‘climbing downwards’. This seems counterintuitive at first, but I often find this subtle, introverted euphoria more interesting and rewarding than chasing climax after climax. All night long sets make these deviations from the norm possible. Happy listening!

This is a large portion of my 12 hour set at Stereo Montreal on September 28, 2024, my longest solo set ever. Missing are the first 2 hours, which I cut for better overall flow, as well as the last hour, which was not recorded as my recorder ran out of battery power.

To me, Stereo represents the absolute top of electronic music clubs worldwide. It is one of the few places that gives DJs the canvas to play long sets under near optimal conditions - an amazing sound system, great monitors, beautiful and subtle lighting and - last but not least - a knowledgeable, demanding and unified crowd.

“This mix is inspired by a touch more Afro than I usually include in my sets, but it still has a distinct “Meyer” feel, as many of the tracks feature the typical clave pattern that’s present in most of my work. I’ve been incorporating Afro elements into my sets for over 10 years, though it’s never the only style I play. I enjoy blending different genres because it’s more creatively challenging.

A friend once told me, “You play so many different genres in one set, but it always sounds like you.” I think that’s a great compliment. For this set, I leaned more on the classic Meyer sound to maintain the flow. Hope you enjoy it!”

Harmonic waves bloom from deep within, unfolding like light through the cracks of time. Chords rise and fall in calibrated waves, responding to one another on mirrored planes. Each reflection, each shift in tone, feels like a silent signal from something greater, something both higher and within. The rhythm breathes slowly, anchoring floating thoughts to roots and constellations hidden beneath the skin. A graceful movement between dusk and return, silence and vibration.
