Joyce Makwenda, from the Harare township of Mbare, is a writer, filmmaker and women's rights activist. This is a brief interview with an artist who has much to say and many stories to tell. She's widely known for her book, film and TV series "Zimbabwe Township Music".

The inspiring enthusiasm that can be heard here in the voice of Joyce Makwenda in this short piece of audio is definitely part of what made me choose it to mix with my instrumental piece, 'Lost Horizon'. 
I felt this composition would lend an apt and atmospheric  backdrop to her important words because Joyce is talking about the Townships and their stories and by doing so is bringing them to a new audience.

Patricia Walsh is a multi-media artist creating reflective and atmospheric sound works, video works and photography.   Selected video works by Patricia Walsh have been screened nationwide on the BBC's Big Screens network throughout the UK.   

She has curated a number of Audio Art events, including Circuit Bridges sound event at EDAU and at the Media Factory, Uclan, Preston.  Artists from the USA, Britain and Europe were brought together in a collaborative sound presentation which toured to New York, 2015.

Her sound piece Einen Augenblick was presented as part of the Harris Flights Project.  A forthcoming book, by Elaine Speight and Charles Quick, will detail all of the artists who have taken part in the, In Certain Places project over the last ten years. 

She is a member of Robert Voisey's Vox Novus 60x60 and also a member of  Soundnetwork.  

FlashBack, sound work, was selected as part of the 60x60 International Mix 2011 and was recently heard at The Sheldon, St Louis, Missouri.

DUST was selected as part of Sonic Vigil V Festival, St. Fin Barre Cathedral, Ireland in 2010 and it was also aired at Bureau Gallery, Manchester, 2011.

ShadowPlay appears on the Audio CD Soundtrack For A Mersey Tunnel by Alan Dunn in an edition of 433, February 2008. A limited edition compilation inspired by the 2'33" minutes spent under the River Mersey on the 433 bus, featuring new soundworks recorded in the Mersey Tunnels and their surrounds, Liverpool, UK. 

UNDERCOVER was seen and heard at the Galapagos Club, Brooklyn, New York 2008. Choreography by Pascal Rekoert.

The sound work Vanishing Act is included in Soundnetwork's 'Sound Report II MADEUP' CD, 2008, which was specially selected and curated by Daniel Barratt.

A recent photographic exhibition Faith, Hope and Charity Shops was shown on an extended run at the Adelphi Gallery, University of Central Lancashire, Preston.
