About this journey :
It's a real pleasure to be invited by Comsovision Records. Thanks a lot.
How does one interpret "Tradiciones", the theme of the series ? In its first sense, tradition is the (collective) memory of what has been and must be transmitted and enriched. History, culture, music. Sharing allows for rememberance. Tradition and transmission become one. My particular history with Senegal naturally turns me towards this country. And my love for Cape Verde makes me want to take you there too. Geographical proximity, bilateral diaspora, common history. And, on both sides, a music to stir your guts. So I dug in the bottom of my (cooking) pot to extract some records from the 70s and 80s. 
Hoping to make you discover some of them... and want to taste more.
To the sound of percussions, the journey begins in the forest of Casamance. It continues in the River Valley, around baobabs of the Serer country, in the streets of Thies, up to the port of Dakar. Latin rhythms mingle with those of the sabar, the energy of the tama collides with the praise of the griots. The voices of Laba Sosseh and Pape Seck flirt with those of Youssou Ndour and Omar Pene. Salsa and mbalax become one.
Fonseca (of Senegalese mother and Cape Verdean father) then invites us to raise the anchor. We leave the land, we take the sea. Islands under the wind meet Islands in the wind. From the volcano of Fogo to the bay of Mindelo, calm follows the storm, joy unites with sadness. Guided by the cadences of coladeira, tabanka, funana, cumbia. Lulled by the songs of Bana and Cesaria. Fatteliku (memory) and sodade (nostalgia) become one.

My musical culture swings somewhere between Brussels and Dakar. I spent 10 years in Senegal. There I run a music shop, co-organised the monthly "Koulgraoul" parties and co-hosted radio shows. Step by step, African music has become a real passion. Back in Belgium, I specialized in records sale, being dj regularly for African and Tropical parties. And I really enjoy mixing at Kiosk Radio every month! By the way, "XOGN" comes from Wolof (Senegalese language). That's what we call grilled rice. So, it means "cooking-pot bottom" ("Fond de marmite")...where my spicy records come from!

Wildlight’s The Tide acoustic redux invokes a sound and era that can be overlooked within our technologically-fueled society. The delicate performances harken back to a period and lifestyle rooted in the past; yet at once paving a path back toward lost innocence and social responsibility. This album serves as reminder that we can exist in that paradigm today. Reimagining the tunes from their stimulating sophomore opus as a stirring blend of global instrumentation, folk sensibilities, and indigenous influence, Ayla Nereo and David Sugalski (The Polish Ambassador) have crafted a statement bathing in sonic serenity.

In tandem with the artists’ reverence, The Tide places a glistening spotlight on the earth, community, gratitude, healing and romance. Sugalski enlists a vibrant team of collaborators to facilitate an energetic transformation; The Tide’s formerly meditative dance music evolves elegantly into a softer, medicinal archetype. The creative ingenuity of lead producer Ryan Herr is a revelation. Sugalski’s compadre courts a courageous cavalcade, among them Tyson Leonard and Jesse Hendrix. The dexterous multi-instrumentalists employ a myriad of organic sounds to soothe and serenade with savoir-faire: banjo, violin, accordion, saxophone, flute, toy piano, melodica, duduk, mandolin, djembe, didgeridoo, kalimba, acoustic guitar and upright bass. These assembled artisans in antiquity deliver the listener to an intersection of love, hope, and awareness. Ayla Nereo’s multi-faceted melodies give rise to Wildlight’s impassioned vision and focused mission, the promise of our better tomorrow. From start to finish, Nereo’s femininity is found summoning the intrinsic power of her expressive voice. “Rain” and “From the Ground Up” feature poignant pleas in siren song: her angelic vocal tones calling to the spirits, these are soundtracks to the garden we have dreamt. On “The Crucible,” Nereo unveils a resolute rap and hauntingly gorgeous refrain, at once emotive and inspiring.”Ours to Give” is a soothing, warm lament on the benevolence within us all. “Holy Dust” features her aching, arching soprano, while “Grace, Fully” finds Nereo’s layered vocals basking in a bed of blissful banjo and lulling violin.

was born in a small town in the Northern Italy. Having grasped the underground traditions of DJing and producing from a young age, music has come naturally to him.Through the years he has been spoiling us with a bunch of techno/melodic house tracks on various labels. DJ PUK´s MONOHY EP is his first slow release and we have fallen in love with the sound he has created. Underplayed TR 303 acid patterns, playful Indian instrumentation and dynamic, organic storytelling throws us into an exploratory journey through his soundscapes which are sure to keep every slow dance floor grooving.

Label bosses of Ohxalá Records, the duo from Portugal is eager to explore a thematic cut with a focus on Portuguese, Brazilian and African cultures, inspired by the strong rhythmic foundation of popular and ancient music.
