Old Wave: a Boston quintet of familiar friends noted for their many layered collaborations. Whether improvising over an Art for Friends Sake film project, participating in a Music as a Second Language workshop or a Gazz Jenre performance, or playing at a speakeasy undercover as the Dewdroppers, members of Old Wave have been cross-pollinating for years. 

Despite all that experience, the band’s sophomore album “BOAT” feels more like a seasoned debut. Several seasons have passed since their first EP, “Just Like Catching Light in a Jar.” Along with the passage of time, the addition of Regina Peterson on flute definitively changed the band’s dynamic and sound. 

After ages of playing shows in basements and parks, at festivals and bars, art galleries and thrift shops, farmers markets, fundraisers, porches, and just about anywhere that you could hear live music, the band finally has a recording to share that captures their live sound. 

Old Wave is ecstatic to share this most recent collection of songs.

This record of songs is yours. Singers sing songs so others can hear them. Before that can happen again, here’s a document of the time between when we used to go to shows and when we will go to shows again.
