We all witnessed the horrific fires that tore through the L.A. area a couple of months ago. The fire savagely burned family homes, property, and irreplaceable memories. Soul Deep and Smooth N Groove have teamed up to curate an album with the objective of providing relief for those in need. The album features an all-star lineup, including such artists as Seba, Madcap, Nookie, Dramatic, Blade, FX909, Decon, SoulStructure, Tim Cant, Dash, Furney, Scott Allen, Stunna, Anthony Kasper, Carter, and many more.

The album's musical compositions capture the essence of the vibrant city, and will help restore hope in the local population. We appreciate the artists who selflessly donated their musical talents for such an important and urgent cause. Areas surrounding Los Angeles were destroyed by the fires, but with your help, we can assist people in getting back on their feet. We appreciate the support you’ve shown our labels over the years, and now we’re asking for your help! ALL proceeds from the album sales will be donated to Project Hope, which will provide direct assistance to those in need. As always, we appreciate your support!

Named after his young child, ‘As Gabriel Sleeps’ is one of the standout tracks from Corserine’s ‘Better Than Paradise’ album. Channeling the spirit of yacht rock, 80s synth pop and the airy vibe of French touch, this single is as emotive and cinematic as they come.
 
Corserine’s unique sonic tapestry is woven from a rich background: growing up in Scotland in the 1980s, surrounded by a vibrant blend of musical genres and pop culture. While his mother and sister were classically trained pianists, he first honed his skills as a guitarist in various rock and punk bands, before expanding his musical arsenal to include an encyclopaedic knowledge of rare groove and Japanese city pop, all of which inform Corserine's distinctive sound. 

‘As Gabriel Sleeps’ veers from tender love paean to widescreen progressive emo-pop: “You hold me close and tell me that you can read my mind / How do you get to know how I feel inside?” The female vocal cuts through powerfully, while the synth work is complemented by Corserine main man Colin wigging out on his guitar to take it to closure. This track functions as anything from late-night radio missive to mildly melancholic daytime soul searcher. 

Pattern Perception dons his ravey-davey hat for the remix, kicking off with synth washes and tuff breaks before introducing bits of the original lyric. As it unfolds after the first drop it turns into a certifiable jungle tekno beast — apparently inspired by a weekend spent at Boomtown Festival. There’s another epic drop before the junglistic breaks and thumping kick-drum wham back in amongst bubbling acid and more emotive synth washes. The boy from the Black Country has really knocked this one out of the park.

Just some of the quotes that have followed this ground breaking interview between Carl Loben and Klaus Blatter, who claims to be in the inventor of acid house AND techno, and a lot more besides. 
After some pestering, Carl agreed to let Klaus Blatter on to his 1BTN show — along with his producer Novak Spormento — to put his outlandish claims to the test. The result is one of the most bizarre interviews ever recorded on radio. Their tunes are actually pretty amazing though! Could they be the real deal??
