Next up in our mix series, is the UK-based DJ Sybil. A great DJ who really knows how do flood your mind in psychedelic rhytms, ambients states and emotional cuts. With a unique skill of crafting a diverse and dynamic auditory experience, her thoughtful yet instinctual picks effortlessly glide between varying moods and genres, striking a harmonious balance between lightheartedness and fervor, exuberance and pulsating power.

This mix is a 2 hour long set of cerebral trippers, trance floaters and rhythmic ear ticklers made for a meandering imaginary after-hours. An undulating mix which is both ambient and rhythmic, slipping between BPMs, genres and energy levels in a winding journey.

As one of the forces behind @ute-rec and one half of Accelerationism, Oslo based DJ, promoter and label head @mariusbo’s singular, trance-infused sound feels both fresh and profoundly nostalgic. 

Starting in 2017 with highly curated open air raves in his native Norway as part of the Uteklubb collective, both Marius and the group have continued to evolve, with the inception of their Ute Rec imprint in 2019 representing the fruition of the group's distinctive sound aesthetic. A string of influential releases from @oprofessionell, The Dosadi Experiments and @mikkel-rev, alongside the high-profile Accelerationism CDs that have seen them collaborate with the likes of @alpha-tracks-official, @s-o-n-s and @sunjuhargun, plus a VA fundraiser alongside @amniote-editions have helped Marius and Ute Rec to quickly garner a global audience, giving them a platform to share their unique vision of psychedelic contemporary trance.

Hitting like a deep, rejuvenating breath in the open air, Marius' Patterns of Perception 92 is a pulsating, private moment for emotions and reflections to cascade and flow. 
Evoking the serene, iridescent embrace of the chill-out room, this mix floats weightlessly in the aether between psychedelic downtempo and ambient trance -  a shimmering assembly of textures and inspirations, both new and old. It is a space for closed eyes, kaleidoscopic perception and slow heart rates - a tonic for the mind, body and soul.

Patterns of Perception 92 - Marius Bø

Amsterdam-based @jasminhoek is a DJ and radio host renowned for her eclectic, percussion-rich sound. Immersed in a vivid spectrum of bass, breaks, dubstep, acid and techno, she also readily embraces the weird, with a knack for uncovering the most compelling of unexpected oddities.

As both a hard-working and in-demand selector, Jasmín has taken the stage at an array of much loved venues and events across the world, including the likes of the Dekmantel, Dekmantel Selectors and Rewire Festivals, De School, Garage Noord, Tresor, Griessmuehle, and New York’s Bossa Nova Civic Club. In recent times, she’s spent time honing her skills in the studio, with her first two track releases being featured on VAs from Dekmantel and Martyn’s 3024 imprint.

Jasmín's Patterns of Perception 93 feels simultaneously free-spirited and precise, with its energy and emotion combining to perfectly capture her distinctive sound. Buoyant, expressive rhythms find cathartic release amongst flashes of luminescent energy. Warm, playful atmospheres are actually intensified by pensive, reflective interludes. Past inspirations find reinvigoration alongside feelings and reflections from today.

Patterns of Perception 93 - Jasmín

DYL (@dyl170) is a Romanian DJ and producer whose interpretation of contemporary dnb is both sophisticated and highly effective. Touching a range of tempos and energies, his music finds form amongst smooth, delicate and powerful shades - often all at once. 

The past years have seen DYL maintain a steady production schedule, with highly regarded releases on imprints such as @translationrecordings, @diffusereality, @alphacut and @relationreset; along with key collaborations with DB1 (@dee-bee-one), @synkro and @tammohesselink. 

For DYL, Patterns of Perception 94 represents a moment for reflection; a chance to embrace the presence and momentum of his own recent works - both solo and collaborative. And as these propulsive rhythms simmer and blur, moments of true emotion take flight. Introspection glows in the depths, urging us on toward lucidity.

Patterns of Perception 94 - DYL

@roza-terenzi has traversed continents, yet her sound as a producer is never quite of this world. Hailing from Australia and now based in Berlin, extensive touring and appearances at a host of electronic music’s most esteemed festivals and venues have only served to strengthen her skills as a producer, with releases on the likes of @dkmntl, @planeteuphorique, @kalaharioystercult, @buttersessions and her own @stepballchain somehow evoking both nostalgia and visions of the future through cosmic atmospherics and warm, alien grooves.

Likewise, her Patterns of Perception 95 is luminous, lush and vibrantly nostalgic: like a hazy, sun-bleached postcard from decades past, viewed very much in the here and now. Covering a lot of ground in terms of both tempo and energy - this mix floats effortlessly from downtempo to liquid DNB, from breaks to house and back again, showcasing her effervescent skill and versatility behind the decks. 
Featuring an array of forthcoming and unreleased material from friends, collaborators and Terenzi herself, the warmth in this uplifting selection stirs hope for the times ahead.

Patterns of Perception 95 - Roza Terenzi

For @syberkid, embracing diversity and unpredictability comes naturally. With a sound as wide-ranging as it is sleek and vibrant, her careful yet intuitive selections slip smoothly between playfulness and intensity; euphoria and driving energy, covering an array of genres and tempos in the process.

A busy DJing schedule has taken Sybil both across the UK (with appearances at Village Underground, Fabric, Glastonbury, and Timedance to name a few), and to respected events and venues around the world, including Berlin Atonal, Berghain’s Säule, the WHOLE Festival, De School (Amsterdam), Brutaż (Warsaw), ZVUK (Almaty) and Honey Soundsystem (San Francisco). Post-pandemic, Sybil has kept busy, playing at local parties across London (including the inaugural Risen festival), as well as hosting off-grid trance raves deep in the British countryside.

Her Patterns of Perception 96 is a spirited expedition to the outer edges of consciousness. Simultaneously pulsating and soulful, her selections trace a path through the void, carefully mapping the vast, incomprehensible expanses within. 
While this mix embraces a darker sonic palette, it carefully shies away from the brutal intensity often associated with darkness. Instead, Sybil’s interpretation is psychedelic and sensuous, guiding us on a journey which is strange, thrilling and ultimately revitalising.

Remember Chinese Whispers, Stille Post or Rikkinäinen Puhelin? That children’s game, known all over the world, that illustrates the difficulties of transmitting information, but which also reveals the creativity of discontinuous conversation? It feels like the Patterns of Perception and @awalkingcontradiction collectives have been in such a conversation for the past years across a multitude of label nights, private hangouts, and shared festival experiences.

Based in Basel, Switzerland but unhinged from national contexts, A Walking Contradiction is a label for music and research. Curated by @varuna4053, @lemont-eana and Dead Electronic Space Limited (@ltd_dead), the collective share a penchant for beats - broken and straight - yet can't help but churn out music for the quiet hours. A deeply reflective group, you’ll find snippets of their conversations on social, political, economic, and environmental issues hidden in sounds or in plain sight on the sleeves of their records.

Compiled entirely from new and unreleased material, their Patterns of Perception 102 is but the latest product of interlocutions and whispers between Basel, Berlin, Helsinki and the world in general, paying tribute to the significance of community where the legitimacy of commons is increasingly impugned. 
Levitating within a field of sophisticated textures and percussion, this set burns slowly, but with a luminescent intensity. Angular experimental ambience builds into winding, complex rhythms. Inspired minds elevate delicate melancholia into a true sense of hope.

Timnah is one of our favourite artists, and a true master of her craft. Not a week goes by without listening to one of her immersive sonic creations. They hold a special place in our heart <3

Over the years, she has crafted a very unique sonic language that transcends the dance floor, into subliminal rhythmic, ambient, and experimental territories. She has a gift for conjuring dynamic narratives that evoke powerful emotions and otherworldly visualisations.

Timnah has a unique way of drawing the listener into her world, rather than guiding them through their own….. and it’s a beautiful place to be.

"For Cenote I composed a live environment that is a synthesis of sound spaces I've travelled through and recorded over the last few years. Born of rhythm, my music is also made up of ethereal, sometimes generative, sound spaces. This recording, made up of three main chapters, flows finely, like the water we try to hold in our hands into a crystalline dialogue between the sounds of life and the melodies that flow from them. A delicate journey that I'm delighted to share with you.”

Back in 2023 we were lucky enough to release an exceptional podcast from Timnah - our ears were hooked! We immediately felt the potential and knew that she would be the DJ to provide the perfect festival afternoon soundtrack to our beloved forest.

Fast forward to Sunday afternoon at Monument Festival 2024, and Timnah’s set completely surpassed our already high expectations. From the moment she started, it was clear this was going to be something special.

Starting slow and deep, setting the stage like the opening of an epic tale, Timnah’s set unfolded layer by layer, note by note like a cinematic sonic story told deep in the forest by a master storyteller, one that could have only been by Timnah herself.

Monument Festival 2024 : Timnah

The whales are my people's ancestors; the humpback whale in particular holds the most knowledge of the Earth, as it can dive the deepest. While also being able to come to the surface and jump (fly) in the sky. 

When whales were hunted in a sacred way, they were prayed for. Every part was used. In this relationship we honored their sacrifice and our reciprocal balance as land becomes sea and sea becomes sky. How you treat the meekest of us is how you treat yourself and the illusions of others.
 We are nature, and there is no separation, only the us.
Protect the sacred.
