“Vivid” and “otherworldly” are words sometimes used to try and describe @erikadotnet’s singular sound. Combining a fresh, forward-thinking approach with a strong connection to her roots and the wider scene, Erika has become an influential presence in the years since she was first gifted a TR-606 by BMG and invited to join Ectomorph. 

As a producer, her work is grounded in techno and electro, but often goes much further afield, incorporating rough textures and abstract kaleidoscopic experimentation to great effect.
Alongside long-time collaborators BMG and Amber, she runs the highly-regarded label Interdimensional Transmissions (@ithqdetroit). This platform has allowed her to delve deep on a sonic level through a string of impactful solo and collaborative releases, while also overseeing and contributing to legendary Detroit events Samhain, No Way Back and Return to the Source.

The majesty in Erika’s Patterns of Perception 111 comes as much from its restraint as it does from its vibrancy. Layers of rhythm and percussion swirl and elevate, revealing intricate new patterns at every juncture. And while Erika’s expert pacing and evocative atmospheres offer a sense of low-slung sophistication, a subtle, raw energy builds, bristling just under the surface.

The path Karim charts through this set mirrors that of his label’s truly inspirational and decade-spanning journey, one of prophetic timelessness and stalwart vision revealing a curatorial prowess like no other. A London DJing and promotion mainstay since 2006, Casper Clark started using the name Volte-Face in 2014 when his first productions started to land, initially on his own label BleeD, with subsequent appearances on the likes of Semantica, Non-Series and Phorma. The period up until 2019 was marked by appearances at important beacons of the European techno scene such as Berghain, Tresor, Khidi, Trouw, Shelter, Rex, Razzmatazz, Lux and Gare as well as tours of the US and Asia. 

On a somewhat enforced hiatus since 2019, he’s recently found his way back to DJing with a renewed sense of focus and purpose, with a desire to explore and share a wider range of interests than he felt able or permitted to do in the past. His regular ambient series ‘Through The Wreckage’, and usually quite experimental radio shows can be found via his Soundcloud and this mix, his first on a podcast since an ambient set for Monument in 2018, hones in on a deep and heady broken-beat rhythm.

Jo Johnson’s explorations in sound have ranged from free-form punk with Huggy Bear in the 90s, to underground techno in the 00s, and, for the last decade, deeply expressive electronic minimalism that pays tribute to the many women who pioneered this genre. She has released with respected labels including Further Records and Mysteries of the Deep in the US and Frequency Domain and Castles in Space in the UK. Her latest project, Alterations, is a 'slow' album that she is recording and self-releasing track-by-track throughout 2025. 

For the fourth edition of Waves, Jo Johnson presents a mix of absolute celestial beauty, building delicately with deep and lush ambiance into a trip of interstellar melodies, this is the perfect way to start your week off right.
