Consumer Refund

Producer, DJ, promoter, and @soundsofvala label head, @soundsofkaspiann's work straddles a range of paces and moods, always with an eye toward the innovative. With a lower-tempo release due early next year on an undisclosed label, Kaspiann's more recent sonic explorations wade into swampy techno with psychedelic inflections.

In Patterns of Perception 117, Kaspiann pulls you into the flow through these murky sounds that dips and stomps along, with a selection of unreleased tracks from both his and his friends' studios, along with a handful of carefully unearthed gems.

Patterns of Perception 117 - Kaspiann

Known for her hypnotic dives to the psychedelic reaches of deep techno, London-based @freyacaldwell signature style emphasises meticulous sound design and the incorporation of lush and evocative textures. 

Having graced the stages of renowned venues and festivals throughout Europe, she has appeared at prestigious locations such as Amsterdam's De School, the Positive Education Festival, and London's own Village Underground.

Faery's Patterns of Perception 118 circles around echoes, resonances and hauntings, shifting between shadowy low-ends and moments of ecstatic crescendo. Encapsulating the tension and drama held in dnb's darker edges, the mix also weaves in touches of eerie contemporary classical-esque ambient.

Patterns of Perception 118 - Faery

Hailing from Amsterdam and with De School as his homebase, @nawazworldwide’s sound is always evolving, sliding deftly from wormhole techno to fast rhythms and glitchy electronics.

His selections on this Patterns of Perception 119 melt together while also reinforcing each other, each transition subtler than the last, sometimes even employing his own tailor-made tools and tracks for the purpose.

Beginning from a visual image, this mix blends diverse rhythms and atmospheres, offering a story line from which the listener can create their own narrative, their own image, free of imposition.

Marking the culmination of 2023, our final mix features the debut release from one of our own, @zilkamarie. As the driving force behind comms within our collective, Zilka's music inspiration is drawn from the diverse array of artists she collaborates with.

Recorded live at Jacopo (@severja) and Fred’s (@fred-czital) Hitze party back in July, the set follows on from a daytime open air while also opening the after party. Progressing from wet, spacious ambient sounds to dubby, irresistible beats, Patterns of Perception 120 captures and plays with quintessential afterhours vibes.

Für die Ewigwachgebliebenen zum Feierabendbier, für die Frühaufsteher als Seelenfutter zum Wochenbeginn: Montagssorbet mit Laut & Luise. Alles erlaubt, was gut tut und Gedanken kreisen lässt, nur der Name ist Programm: cremig, fluffig und ganz schön weich.

Ein Hauch von Istanbul schwirrt durch den Raum: Oceanvs Orientalis (@safakozkutle) führt uns durch seine Heimat, in der Tradition und Neuzeit so nahtlos verwoben sind, dass uns Eindruck und Erinnerung trügerisch verschwimmen.

It's hard to believe that it will be exactly two years ago since we launched our beloved label. It really has flown by in the blink of an eye. And so, to mark the occasion of 24 successful months in business, we bring you release number 24. You could call it OCD behaviour but we like to think of it as symmetry ;-)

Step forward Mr Jaap Ligthart, a Dutchman who has been on our radar for some time now with a number of fantastic edits and reworkings but is now making the natural transition into original productions. Together with Ms. Alice Rose, a vocalist who's pass credits include guesting on tracks for the likes of Gabriel Ananda and Eagles & Butterflies, they've created something rather special. 

‘I Know Change’ is a sensuous piece of work. Deep House in the very real sense of the phrase. 
And that is something that our remixers on this project have truly understood. Both Him Self Her and Show-B have delivered exquisite interpretations that give the whole package an overriding sense of class and quality. 

Him Self Her keep things deep and moody with a restrained, atmospheric, sophisticated piece of work, whilst Show-B heads into slightly tougher territory encapsulated by some distinctive rollercoaster percussion effects that have already seen Ame, Dixon, Sasha, Mano Le Tough & Adratique showing their support. And if all that wasn’t enough, they both deliver vocal free dubs too! 

So then, just to recap, it’s hotter than Megan Fox in Agent Provocateur and cooler than a Polar Bear’s toenails. What’s not to like?

Deep Electronics Podcast # 105 - Merope

Bunker Music head honcho Adrian Bell delivers a phenomenal mix for The Poeticast this week for Episode 116.


As one of the most respected names in Melbourne's techno scene, Adrian Bell has spent every spare moment over the past two years, building up a techno empire that is Bunker, rallying up a strong following of supporters and tastemakers along the way.

He has gained a reputation for his genuine fervour in fostering the dissemination of quality techno to the wider Melbourne club scene. At Bunker, they don’t call him the boss for any old reason; in the past few years he has been tirelessly dedicated to the cause alongside partners Jake McDonald and Andy Muscat. Over the years they have been responsible for their annual Summer Open Air series; a range of free outdoor techno day parties which has just finished up its second year, ad-hoc local parties showcasing the finest Melbourne techno, Soft-Pedal; events which focus on ambient, down-tempo, dub & electronica music as well as the tours of two of his personal favourites and influencers, Xhin and Mary Velo.

Bell has remained at the forefront of the local techno scene since the inception of Bunker, even bringing his brand overseas playing in Berlin & Tokyo in 2014 as well as the Techno behemoth Tresor in 2015.
Renowned for pounding out brooding techno, he sites Answer Code Request as an influence on his music choices. An Adrian Bell set is comprised of wall-to-wall techno: the darker, the harder, the better. By no means does it make for a boring set, as he manages to embody all there is to love about techno to command any dance-floor. His musical influences have changed slightly over time, but says that bands like Pink Floyd and Queen will always play a pivotal role, displaying his diverse knowledge and fondness for music.

If that’s not enough to convince you of Bell’s proficiency, he has also had the privilege of being on warming up duties for big batters in the game like Jeff Mills, Marcel Dettmann, Robert Hood, Ben Sims, Peter Van Hoesen and Rebekah, which he highlights as a stand out gig. He also played at Earthcore in 2014 and Let Them Eat Cake earlier this year.

Not many can boast the achievements that Bell has obtained in such a short period of time – a credit to his hard work to say the least.

One of the most captivating new voices in Berlin’s electronic music scene is @consumer-refund. A multi-talented channel of diverse arts and performance, her music - dark, ambient and shimmering - is as difficult to categorise as her artistic practice.

Sarah is actively involved in international networks of female and non-binary artists in the fields of electronic music and digital arts.

Her mix for Patterns of Perception features a myriad of her own productions, embedded within a selection from some of her musical influences that she felt resonated with the Patterns of Perception driving force.
