Our platform has a strong connection with the vibrant Dutch scene. The sheer number of talented producers, DJs, and people interested in electronic music, in general, is astonishing. Making your talent stand out in that 'environment' is quite challenging, but when your skill is noticed, it must be for a reason. Our guest today, Bas Dobbelaer, has many reasons to be noticed. He's an incredibly talented producer and razor-sharp DJ with broad music knowledge but, first and foremost, a charismatic person and fun to be around. 

From our party with the dear SoHaSo crew back in 2018, when Bas and his comrade Viktor aka Vand, played a fabulous ambient set, until today, numerous outstanding releases, remixes, podcasts, and parties are under Bas' belt, and he's become one of the prominent figures in the Amsterdam's underground music scene. 

In light of Bas' and Vand's upcoming remix package on SoHaSo, which features works by Ultrastation, Donato Dozzy, Shoal, Gal Tsadok-Hai, and Marco Shuttle, we are happy to welcome Bas back here at Delayed. This time with a crème de la crème mix that is hypnotic in the word's true meaning. 
Deep and atmospheric with immaculate programming and seamless mixing, this mix has been on repeat in the past few days here at Delayed, and we are sure that the same destiny awaits you. A pure class from Bas!

We are deeply excited to share Donato and Marco’s grand finale for the last edition of Terraforma at Villa Arconati. With great humbleness, these two masters and dear friends have carefully broadened and lulled, record after record, an intimate space of trust, exchange and deep-time connection. 
 
Also, we’d like to add a fond memory that was shared with us a few days after:

“Dozzy and Shuttle’s finale unfolded like twilight. A prolonged dusk caressed by an eerie drizzle. Shadows and whispers echoing with the surroundings. Synapses slowly reaching the ground, merging and becoming one with the underground rhizomatic networks. A memorable rendez-Nous within a fractal space. It felt like being at the core center of the matrix, enveloped by a warmth reminiscent of a maternal womb. I found myself in a weightless suspension, envisioning the past, the present and the future, all together in a blink of an eye.”

We are fueled by gratitude for all this beauty.

"The joy and thrill of having unrestricted creative space, setting and curating a festival stage, shaping its aesthetic, and amplifying the sound through our handcrafted soundsystem was an experience to cherish.

As we stepped up to play, Alfonso had already set the tone since sunrise, guiding the crowd with deep, dubby, and minimal sounds. By the time he passed us the decks, the audience was fully immersed in this hypnotic, mellow and groove-driven atmosphere, ready to carry on.

Playing on our soundsystem, on a stage we had envisioned and built from the ground up, was a truly special moment, both the fruition of a dream and the start of something more."

I had the joy of playing a sunny afternoon set 15:00-17:30 before Konduku, so I kept things bright & groovy 🌻🧚🌞

This set features some IDM, electro and minimal tracks I haven’t played out in years, alongside recent releases I’ve been enjoying.

The whole festival was beautifully programmed and curated, and I heard many inspiring sets throughout the weekend in the iconic grounds of the Castell De Montjuïc.

A live recording of Steve Good opening the final day at The Labyrinth 2019. This was the Typhoon Hagabis year, an event that began and ended with storms, with a sunny respite in between. This set represented a moment of calm before the storms returned on that special weekend which we will never forget.

A soundscape of tribal beats blending instruments from around the world into a journey trough time and space

Stillness Before Impact

Hailing from Seattle, Korean-American artist @fugal expresses both dynamism and nuance. As part of the @secondnatureseattle collective, he’s one of the driving forces behind a string of renowned events in Seattle and the US, as well as an impressive young label which has seen contributions from fellow secondnature residents @archivistseattle and @simictacoma, along with @smoreira and Svreca (@semantica-records).

Now based in Berlin, Fugal has continued to refine his rhythmic, emotive sound, with gigs across Berlin and abroad. On the production front, 2017/18 has proven to be a fruitful period, with a recent co-release with Archivist on @volte_face_bleed’s BleeD imprint, and his sophomore secondnature release coming up in mid-February.

With his contribution to the Patterns of Perception mix series, Fugal has taken a measured approach, veering away from more functional dancefloor sounds, and instead drawing inspiration from the warmth found amongst the grey Berlin winter. Toeing the line between experimental sounds and deep techno, Fugal’s mix delves into the intricate - focusing on musical phrases and creative transitions between widely varying tempos.

An unerringly astute selector and producer, DBR (@breezydbr) is among the most exciting of young acts within the buzzing Melbourne scene. With an affinity for texture and sound design owing to his background as a sound designer for games and film, his productions and DJ sets heave with dissonance and unpredictability, yet are charged with echoes of emotion and melodic complexity.

Patterns of Perception 28, recorded live on vinyl and digital in his home studio, encapsulates his unique musical leanings, and at the same time represents the cutting edge of ambient/experimental electronic music. Layers of electronics dance with organic acoustics to create a vivid, compelling whole.

Patterns of Perception resident @andreasmaan has been injecting a unique sense of drive and intensity into Patterns of Perception’s dance floors since the club night began almost two years ago.

Alongside his dance-floor oriented material, however, he has long cultivated a wide collection of arrhythmic recordings, ranging across a diverse spectrum of genres, from ambient, minimalist and musique concrete, to medieval chant.

In Patterns of Perception 29, Andreas Maan brings some of these aspects of his sound palate to the fore, weaving a path through the sparse textures and rich atmospherics that these disparate musical elements have to offer.

Patterns of Perception 29 - Andreas Maan

One of the most distinctive talents to emerge out of Melbourne’s techno scene, Mosam Howieson's (https://soundcloud.com/mos-how) singular brand of experimental live techno is texturally colourful, warm and immersive, drawing in listeners and dancers alike.

Patterns of Perception 30 sees Howieson set out to both challenge and captivate the listener, expertly weaving an array of textures, genres and atmospheres into a intriguing, powerful body of work. 

Having already released on @silent-season and @further-records, among others, his next EP is slated for release on Butter Records, and features remixes from Wata Igarashi (https://soundcloud.com/wata) and Sleep D (https://soundcloud.com/sleepd). His European debut at Belgium's Meakusma festival has also been scheduled for September, signalling what will no doubt be a breakout year for the Australian artist.

Patterns of Perception 30 - Mosam Howieson

@johnosborn moved to Berlin in the late 1990’s, in the aftermath of the fall of the wall, when the city was heaving with electronic music and full of empty spaces in which creativity could thrive. From his first gig at WMF, on the bill alongside @dixon and @mitja-prinz, to his residency at Panorama Bar for @scubaofficial’s famed SUB:STANCE parties, he quickly became a regular fixture in the local electronic music scene – and has remained there since. 
As the head of DRED (and formerly of TANSTAAFL RECORDS), John has found space to express his creativity away from the dancefloor, both as a producer/remixer and as a selector and champion of emerging and established artists.

This adroit, blistering mix is a live recording of his sunrise set from Patterns of Perception’s Two Years party at @about-blank-berlin on 5-6 May, 2018.

Patterns of Perception 31 - John Osborn

In his hometown of Basel where he is a resident at techno institution Elysia, @garcon’s name is synonymous with extended, expertly structured DJ sets rich in nuance and intensity. Co-owner of @amenthia-recordings with long-time collaborator @agonis-amenthia, the two have shared the unique artistic vision embodied by their label.

Combining elements that span a diverse musical landscape, Garçon’s mixes tend to be rhythmically, texturally and stylistically diverse, grounded in techno but always delving deeper and further afield. His Patterns of Perception 38 is no exception.
