Producer, DJ, promoter, and @soundsofvala label head, @soundsofkaspiann's work straddles a range of paces and moods, always with an eye toward the innovative. With a lower-tempo release due early next year on an undisclosed label, Kaspiann's more recent sonic explorations wade into swampy techno with psychedelic inflections.

Patterns of Perception 117 - Kaspiann

Known for her hypnotic dives to the psychedelic reaches of deep techno, London-based @freyacaldwell signature style emphasises meticulous sound design and the incorporation of lush and evocative textures. 

Having graced the stages of renowned venues and festivals throughout Europe, she has appeared at prestigious locations such as Amsterdam's De School, the Positive Education Festival, and London's own Village Underground.

Faery's Patterns of Perception 118 circles around echoes, resonances and hauntings, shifting between shadowy low-ends and moments of ecstatic crescendo. Encapsulating the tension and drama held in dnb's darker edges, the mix also weaves in touches of eerie contemporary classical-esque ambient.

Hailing from Amsterdam and with De School as his homebase, @nawazworldwide’s sound is always evolving, sliding deftly from wormhole techno to fast rhythms and glitchy electronics.

His selections on this Patterns of Perception 119 melt together while also reinforcing each other, each transition subtler than the last, sometimes even employing his own tailor-made tools and tracks for the purpose.

Beginning from a visual image, this mix blends diverse rhythms and atmospheres, offering a story line from which the listener can create their own narrative, their own image, free of imposition.

Patterns of Perception 119 - Nawaz

Marking the culmination of 2023, our final mix features the debut release from one of our own, @zilkamarie. As the driving force behind comms within our collective, Zilka's music inspiration is drawn from the diverse array of artists she collaborates with.

Recorded live at Jacopo (@severja) and Fred’s (@fred-czital) Hitze party back in July, the set follows on from a daytime open air while also opening the after party. Progressing from wet, spacious ambient sounds to dubby, irresistible beats, Patterns of Perception 120 captures and plays with quintessential afterhours vibes.

Hailing from Germany and now based in Portugal, @vril_01 has in recent years been quietly producing and performing some truly extraordinary electronic music. Going from strength to strength, he takes dancefloors on vivid, compelling journeys across Europe and beyond.

Patterns of Perception 121 takes us back to a very special live ambient set .VRIL performed at @nachtdigital MINT 2019, an immersive hour of lucid textures and swelling intensity.

Our next edition has been crafted by none other than über sleek selector Eric Cloutier, who you will all recognize as he is popping to the Big Smoke with us for our debut London showcase!

This mix shows a different side to our podcast series as we take things super deep. Taking you on a journey to the outer realms of the space-time continuum, Cloutier touches down with some of the most intelligent techno all interwoven into a seriously classy electronic tapestry. Hypnotic would be an understatement.

Konduku at Metropolis 29.10.23

Konduku (@kondukukonduku) is Dutch-born but with a proud Turkish heritage that colours the music he makes. It's impactful techno but with curious time signatures and minimalist percussive that draws on the rhythms of his ancestral homeland. As the son of a musician and Balkan folklore dancer, he was always set to spend his life in music and so far it's been a rich one that has included a standout debut album on Nous’klaer in 2018 and fresh EPs on the cult likes of Delsin, Bitta and Spazio Disponibile.

This week's mix showcases exactly what he is all about with 80 minutes of supple and subversive techno. Liquid tracks from Jeff Mills, Donato Dozzy, Shackleton and plenty of his own all feature in this timeless trip where slick transitions and carefully threaded grooves constantly build mood and atmosphere. From deep and cosmic to dark and dystopian, there is an always underlying tension that keeps both mind and body utterly locked in.

Dekmantel Podcast 472 - Konduku

2018’s chilled-out Kiran LP was a first step towards Konduku’s inevitable fate as electronic music producer par excellence. The Dutch performer’s right brain rhythms were perhaps aptly timed, touching a spot made tender by the period of introspection forced upon us by an unprecedented global pandemic. These were spartan experiments in sound that reverberated within the cavernous space isolation prised open but didn’t stay that way for long. With the return to normality came another side to Konduku’s work, productions and real-time sets that focused on a heavier, more techno-leaning sound; though they still took inspiration from bass, sometimes house, and the plangent loops of mid-2000s Italian hypnotica. These beats found a perfect home on Spazio Disponibile, Delsin’s Mantis as well as DJ Nobu’s Bitta label, and even claimed a sublabel all his own on Rotterdam’s Nous'klaer Audio, the music and photography outlet K Series. A highly satisfying alliance of liquid basslines and layered echoes put his name on the rise, and today his relentlessly chugging and nimble beats are very much a known quantity, a unique and welcome proponent for cerebral, subaqueous loops. Bassiani Podcast 223 is top-form Konduku recorded live at the club back in May, three hours of forward-thinking techno that’s thick with ideas and rattling rhythms, far-out frequencies for the temporal lobe that surprise at every turn.

A lesson in rhythm from a former De School resident.

When it comes to minimalist dance music, Ruben Üvez, AKA Konduku, is one of the best in the game right now. With a masterful and ever-shapeshifting understanding of rhythm, the Berlin-based artist crafts sublime dance music with a staunchly leftfield bent. Don't just take our word for it: how many DJs, after all, can claim to have moved De School to a puddle of tears?

Musically, Üvez is hard to pin down. He's often billed as a techno artist, but actually you'll find his sound sits outside of the genre's many conventions. With an outsider's curiosity, he leans into diverse moods, tempos and genres, though one throughline is always how he arranges his drums. Whether it be deep, Nobu-core techno such as 2023's Hayal EP or UK beat science á la Peverelist on 2019's  Gegek, he leads with rhythm across his DJing and production. The end product is a hypnotic, one-of-a-kind sound that hits the body before the brain has time to catch up. In short, it slaps.

As Üvez's RA Podcast demonstrates, he's got a serious knack for crafting and selecting tunes that can  deeply captivate a dance floor. Clocking in at just over 90 minutes, RA.967 is an excursion through a timeless sound, packed with long, layered blends, flick-of-the-wrist transitions, locked grooves and spine-tingling atmospherics. In 2020, we called Ruben Üvez one of techno's brightest new talents. This mix sees him ascending to a seat at the top table.

Having made a name for himself through a string of choice releases for the likes of Nous’klaer and Delsin, Dutch producer Konduku has been turning heads with his ever innovative take on the techno medium. Pushing for new directions, Konduku’s been laying down intriguing blends of dubbed-out, Afro-infused grooves and plural strains of abstract-leaning, breaks-friendly hybrids. The present mix showcases the breadth of his influences and essential components, extrapolating techno’s genre-transcending nature through a fine mix of heavily verbed-out electronics and shape-shifting buildup, never quite going where you’d expect it, rather seeking the excitement of suspenseful arcs and unsuspected developments. Bold as it should.

Solid Steel (16th February) Our guest in Hour 1 is Answer Code Request ahead of the release of his new album 'Gens' which is out next week on Ostgut Ton. For the Berghain resident, this is his follow up to his celebrated debut LP 'Code' from 2014 and you can catch him playing tonight at index, Dublin, 17th Feb at Fabric London and the album release party at Berghain on 24th Feb. He told us;
"With this mix I explore opposing musical poles that I gravitate towards as a DJ and producer – but even more so as a listener. Namely, abstract electronic pieces on the one hand and more obviously rhythm-based tracks on the other. I’ve included music classic and new, all of which however shares a certain state of mind, a feeling of distance, restlessness and isolation. The first 40 minutes wander through ambient and experimental music textures, eventually moving toward more club-friendly vistas, broken beats, dubstep, electro and techno, and including the occasional uplifting track. Having long had a soft spot for UK hardcore outgrowths and related club sounds, I also hoped to show with this selection what I see as a broader bass music continuum, one which includes producers outside of the UK. Finally, this mix was recorded at home after several sketches made on the road during my album live tour. It's been a pleasure to compile for a series as pioneering as this one."

Konduku (a.k.a. Ruben Üvez) burst onto the scene in 2018 with his debut album Kıran, named after the picturesque hill in Turkey's Cappadocia under which his father is buried. That man and that place are in many ways the inspiration behind this unique artist's arresting blending of atmospheric melodica and polyrhythmic drive, grounded in equal measure upon the mystifying beauty of his ancestral home and the thrilling electronic music scene of the Netherlands in which he was raised.

His Patterns of Perception 46 perfectly reflects these dual complementary forces, at once arcane and palpable. And perhaps the third vital foundation upon which this mix's incandescent energy stands is the process by which it was created: two turntables, one take.
