Where to even begin with @garcon, an artist who I believe is pushing a truely unique, innovative and interesting sound. Based in Basel, Switzerland, Denis runs the consistently impressive @amenthia-recordings alongside another Swiss talent, @agonis-amenthia. He also hosts the show @homebasel on Radio Ghost Town, which has showcased an extensive plethora of inspiring artists. The Basel mainstay is also a resident at Elysia club.

Garçon has built a name for himself with a deep-diving record collection that showcases a beautiful diversity of sounds and styles. What is so special about his DJ'ing is the way he pieces all of this music together in charming, avant-garde and unexpected ways.

VISION SIX - ÂSAN

We are so thrilled to finally share this delicious mix recorded by the French/Polish DJ and producer ~ ina kacz. We met Ina last year in London during her visit and have immediately bonded over a few shared musical experiences, keeping in touch since. It feels so right to finally welcome her to the Introspective Electronics family. She recorded just over an hour of seamlessly flowing ambient textures weaved together with various shades of rhythm-driven experimental dance sounds for us  🤍

Ina’s music taste is refreshingly eclectic, yet she manages to keep her signature sound ~ combining deep atmospheres, breaks, tribalism and groove ~ well defined. A household name on her local Berlin scene, with DJ sets at Berghain and Tresor under her belt, Ina also tours around the globe, notably in Georgia, France, Portugal, or Colombia among other places. In 2022, she has released her first track ‘Sequoia’ as part of a compilation on the Colombian imprint ‘From A Lost Place’ 💫

This mix is the perfect example of challenging the frontiers between music for listening and dancing. Starting off patiently with droney ambient and glitchy downtempo, the mix picks up pace around its middle section to dive into heady, futuristic drum’n’bass weightlessness wrapped in soft, warm & fuzzy blankets of lush atmospherics. This one will take you places, we promise. Travel safe, friends!

It is a big honour to feature the very talented @syberkid for our ninth Herbarium Episode. With her organic and trippy sound, she makes the perfect match for our series.
The artist chose one of the oldest ferns for her mix, Pteridium Aquilinum. There are fossil records for this plant which are over 55 million years old.
It’s native in the U.K., the place where Sybil is based. She says '[it] looks so prehistoric & Jurassic, I love it.'

It is wonderful how Sybil integrates the mystic yet ancient vibe of this plant into her mix. It describes the complex form and the magic which comes with the age of its existence on earth very well. There are moments in which one can imagine to really communicate with this inspiring plant and feel the atmosphere around it in our forests.

Chris SSG needs little introduction. As co-founder of the hugely influential (former) MNML SSGS blog and now organiser of MNML SSGS events, he has for years been at the cutting edge of electronic music in his hometown of Tokyo and abroad. Eschewing conventional dancefloor sensibilities, his music moves effortlessly between ambient, experimental, komische and abstract techno.

His Patterns of Perception 39 is a journey through a range of his current musical foci, and was recorded live at @dredrecordsberlin 's Space Cakes event on 12 August 2018, drawing from an emotional palate inspired by the summer in which it was recorded.

Sidney & Suleiman’s musical explorations – both as DJs and as founders of Paris-based Latency Recordings – traverse a rich tapestry of genres, moods, and sounds. Patterns of Perception 40 reflects the keen and subtle musical sensibilities of the duo, drifting between and around ambient, experimental and techno, always remaining true to its creators’ unique musical vision.

Since first playing at the second Patterns of Perception back in 2016, techno veteran @yuka, has bestowed a special beat upon Patterns of Perception’s heart.

With interests that span painting, sculpture, design and music, Yuka’s unique groove – which is as deep and psychedelic as it is lucent and energetic – has captivated dancers across the globe. Meanwhile, her productions, out on @fullpanda-records, @semantica-records, @silent-season and soon on @kalawila's Mountain Explosion Device are ornate, magical, and profound.

Her Patterns of Perception 41 perfectly captures the rich threads in her musical tapestry.

As a co-curator and resident DJ of Patterns of Perception, Steve Duncan aims to always infuse a sense of vibrancy and diversity into the sonic palette of his sets and musical offerings. A focus on rhythm and narrative allows him to traverse a range of sounds and moods, and challenges him to continually dig and refine his musical vision.

With Patterns of Perception 42 - his second outing since the very first edition some two and half years ago - Steve has created a soundscape filled with slow grooves, rough textures and vibrant interjections. It seeks to bridge home listening and dancefloor sensibilities, with driving moments countered with contemplative experimental pieces.

Patterns of Perception 42 - Steve Duncan

@eluize is many things: a producer, DJ, and label head, whose passions over the years have ranged from maths to (more recently) motherhood - both of which and more she discusses in an upcoming interview with us. Her label, Night Tide (@nighttideaudio), whose mission is deep melodic underground electronic music, has released music from @albrecht-labrooy, @djenacosovic, and @hans-berg.

Based in Berlin but with a foot still firmly grounded in her hometown of Adelaide, Eluize’s productions and mixes span techno, house, acid and more, fuse acoustic instrumentation with synths and machines, creating textures that are spacious, euphoric and rhythmically alluring.

Her Patterns of Perception 43 is at once precise, vivid and lush, a perfect antidote to the gathering darkness of Berlin’s coming winter.

Patterns of Perception 43 - Eluize

Konduku (a.k.a. Ruben Üvez) burst onto the scene in 2018 with his debut album Kıran, named after the picturesque hill in Turkey's Cappadocia under which his father is buried. That man and that place are in many ways the inspiration behind this unique artist's arresting blending of atmospheric melodica and polyrhythmic drive, grounded in equal measure upon the mystifying beauty of his ancestral home and the thrilling electronic music scene of the Netherlands in which he was raised.

His Patterns of Perception 46 perfectly reflects these dual complementary forces, at once arcane and palpable. And perhaps the third vital foundation upon which this mix's incandescent energy stands is the process by which it was created: two turntables, one take.
