Patterns of Perception 117 - Kaspiann

Known for her hypnotic dives to the psychedelic reaches of deep techno, London-based @freyacaldwell signature style emphasises meticulous sound design and the incorporation of lush and evocative textures. 

Having graced the stages of renowned venues and festivals throughout Europe, she has appeared at prestigious locations such as Amsterdam's De School, the Positive Education Festival, and London's own Village Underground.

Faery's Patterns of Perception 118 circles around echoes, resonances and hauntings, shifting between shadowy low-ends and moments of ecstatic crescendo. Encapsulating the tension and drama held in dnb's darker edges, the mix also weaves in touches of eerie contemporary classical-esque ambient.

Patterns of Perception 118 - Faery

Hailing from Amsterdam and with De School as his homebase, @nawazworldwide’s sound is always evolving, sliding deftly from wormhole techno to fast rhythms and glitchy electronics.

His selections on this Patterns of Perception 119 melt together while also reinforcing each other, each transition subtler than the last, sometimes even employing his own tailor-made tools and tracks for the purpose.

Beginning from a visual image, this mix blends diverse rhythms and atmospheres, offering a story line from which the listener can create their own narrative, their own image, free of imposition.

Marking the culmination of 2023, our final mix features the debut release from one of our own, @zilkamarie. As the driving force behind comms within our collective, Zilka's music inspiration is drawn from the diverse array of artists she collaborates with.

Recorded live at Jacopo (@severja) and Fred’s (@fred-czital) Hitze party back in July, the set follows on from a daytime open air while also opening the after party. Progressing from wet, spacious ambient sounds to dubby, irresistible beats, Patterns of Perception 120 captures and plays with quintessential afterhours vibes.

Growing up in the late 80s, under the influence of acid house & the impact of Belgian Techno, Milton started to shape his sound around electronic music that led him to create his own label  “Do Not Resist the Beat!” in 2008. Constantly searching and experimenting with new sounds he also created the 90s acid-inspired project “Alien Rain” and the ambience project, “The End Of All Existence”, which he premiered live at the Berlin Atonal festival in 2014. Claudio PRC is an italian deep techno specialist who takes cues from avant-garde and ambient music as well as the abyssal echoes of early hypnotic acid and dub. He’s been active as a DJ and producer since 2006 and released his records mainly on Prologue Music and Semantica Records. Co-founder of The Gods Planet label, from 2018 he’s resident DJ in one of Prague’s most valued clubs, Ankali, where he curates the Volumi Dinamici night.

The 107th of weekly Mix show of Suburban Avenue
This show with guest: FABRIZIO LAPIANA [@fabrizio-lapiana]

Fabrizio Lapiana is a well-known fixture on the contemporary Italian techno scene. His musical career started in his hometown Rome where he began collecting vinyl and DJ’ing in the early 90’s. 

After being mainly active on the local scene, Fabrizio in 2008 started producing and founded his own imprint, the well renowned Attic Music. The label quickly expanded from hosting just Fabrizio’s work into also releasing other artists fitting his personal definition of techno. To date Fabrizio has over two handfuls of releases, Attic Music serves as home to some of these, but also other respected labels such as ARTS, Figure Jams and M_Rec Ltd to mention a few. His productions are often dark and hypnotic, yet at times they have brighter melodious elements, with each of these components smoothly entering as the tracks unfold.

However playing records to a live audience is still his favourite element. Fabrizio has honed and perfected his deejaying skills for over two decades, therefore being famous for his immaculate mixing technique. To create the setting he prefers, his sets travel from deeper to harder techno, darker pieces are introduced to more melodic ones and acid or old school gems get updated with new unheard material – these are some of the key ingredients for Fabrizio while creating an intimate journey for the listener. 

Lapiana’s latest achievement as a composer is his debut album “Intraverso” released in February 2018. With this collection of nine songs the artist departs from his previously dancefloor-focused work into something new and far more personal than where he has ever been before. The album shows slower, down-tempo, ambient influenced and more thoughtful compositions, unraveling light, darkness, happiness and sadness. “Intraverso” reveals an artist shedding another layer of himself, showing a softer more vulnerable side to the world.

Today we’re all super hyped for for Lente Kabinet this weekend so to get us even more excited we’ve got Job Jobse making his entry to the series. He will play a closing set at the festival and as resident at De School is a master for serving up the perfect record at the perfect time. Initially a slow burner, he’s long been loved by Amsterdam locals for his richly melodic take on house, techno, Italo and disco, and himself is happy to call it trance. 

It’s certainly a spell being and emotional style that characterises his work here. With something of an old school slant, there are stiff vocal cuts and robotic grooves that slowly loosen up and turn to more hands in the air and zoned out fair before getting more sci-fi and occult later on. As ever with Jobse, it’s feel good and fun without being obvious.

New mix comes from C.P.I aka Marc Piñol & Capablanca. Marc Piñol is a true pillar of Barcelona scene, having released tracks or remixes on local imprints Struments, Black Money, Nitsa Traxx, Side Up Works or Hivern Discs, alongside head-honcho John Talabot under their project Quentin. Also dropped remixes on foreign labels such as Multi Culti, Les Disques De La Mort or Her Majesty's Ship. His first personal ep although was on Discos Capablanca, Hugo Capablanca's very own label. Based in Berlin and true figure of Berlin Underground scene, Hugo is praised as much for his dexterous eclectic sets than for the curation of his label or his productions.
The mix here is an extract of a set they dropped in january at "About Blank" in Berlin, dive in !

Diversos esfuerzos de colaboración han manifestado la habilidad de ATEQ para interponerse entre el house y el techno dentro de paisajes sonoros minimalistas. Además, un show en vivo reciente junto con el virtuosismo de percusión de Samuel Rohrer ha explorado los reinos del jazz y el ambiente de vanguardia.

No es de extrañar que ATEQ haya valorado mantener fuertes lazos y, mientras realiza una gira mundial con su actuación de DJ y Live, también ha desarrollado una residencia y una estrecha alianza con Bassiani de Tbilisi.

Jasmín - Post Pisces Season

Growing up in the countryside of the Netherlands, Matthijs Verschuure found himself surrounded by endless polder horizons, green fields and the sea. It didn’t take long however for @mattheis to find his residence in the industrial harbour town of Rotterdam, where he further developed his synthesizer explorations and crafted his propulsive, hypnotic sound.

The @nousklaeraudio mainstay signed his first release “Isms” with the label in early 2013, followed by a handful of EP’s, remixes and two studio-albums; “Kindred Phenomena” (2016) and “Thin Sections” (2018). His most recent works include collaborations with French label @ahrperecords founder Amandra (@amandraaa), plus a solo EP “A Falcon’s Eyrie” (2020).

Mattheis' Patterns of Perception 61 expands on his modus operandi in the studio, featuring rolling waves of insistent rhythms drenched in a deep ambience of atmospheric sounds, with a focus on subtle changes serving the greater whole of the recording.
