Producer, DJ, promoter, and @soundsofvala label head, @soundsofkaspiann's work straddles a range of paces and moods, always with an eye toward the innovative. With a lower-tempo release due early next year on an undisclosed label, Kaspiann's more recent sonic explorations wade into swampy techno with psychedelic inflections.

In Patterns of Perception 117, Kaspiann pulls you into the flow through these murky sounds that dips and stomps along, with a selection of unreleased tracks from both his and his friends' studios, along with a handful of carefully unearthed gems.

Patterns of Perception 117 - Kaspiann

Known for her hypnotic dives to the psychedelic reaches of deep techno, London-based @freyacaldwell signature style emphasises meticulous sound design and the incorporation of lush and evocative textures. 

Having graced the stages of renowned venues and festivals throughout Europe, she has appeared at prestigious locations such as Amsterdam's De School, the Positive Education Festival, and London's own Village Underground.

Faery's Patterns of Perception 118 circles around echoes, resonances and hauntings, shifting between shadowy low-ends and moments of ecstatic crescendo. Encapsulating the tension and drama held in dnb's darker edges, the mix also weaves in touches of eerie contemporary classical-esque ambient.

Hailing from Amsterdam and with De School as his homebase, @nawazworldwide’s sound is always evolving, sliding deftly from wormhole techno to fast rhythms and glitchy electronics.

His selections on this Patterns of Perception 119 melt together while also reinforcing each other, each transition subtler than the last, sometimes even employing his own tailor-made tools and tracks for the purpose.

Beginning from a visual image, this mix blends diverse rhythms and atmospheres, offering a story line from which the listener can create their own narrative, their own image, free of imposition.

Marking the culmination of 2023, our final mix features the debut release from one of our own, @zilkamarie. As the driving force behind comms within our collective, Zilka's music inspiration is drawn from the diverse array of artists she collaborates with.

Recorded live at Jacopo (@severja) and Fred’s (@fred-czital) Hitze party back in July, the set follows on from a daytime open air while also opening the after party. Progressing from wet, spacious ambient sounds to dubby, irresistible beats, Patterns of Perception 120 captures and plays with quintessential afterhours vibes.

Hailing from Germany and now based in Portugal, @vril_01 has in recent years been quietly producing and performing some truly extraordinary electronic music. Going from strength to strength, he takes dancefloors on vivid, compelling journeys across Europe and beyond.

Patterns of Perception 121 takes us back to a very special live ambient set .VRIL performed at @nachtdigital MINT 2019, an immersive hour of lucid textures and swelling intensity.

For the 12th installment of Archives, we're delighted bring you Ario's absolutely transcendent set from the second night of Moment this year.
As the head of Astral Industries, Ario is perhaps best known for his impeccable curation of category-defying music that straddles cosmic ambient, deep techno, sounds from future civilizations, and songs pulled straight from the void. For this year's Moment, we asked Ario draw from the more dancey and deep regions of his musical interests - and the set he delivered took the audience on an unforgettable trip!
Starting from the late afternoon, Ario's mix gets right down to business, building up layer upon layer of minimal, hypnotic cuts that propelled us into the night. As the sun set and the lazer displays began to materialize in the forest, Ario started to unfold the upper-dimensional structure he had been patiently sculpting behind the decks: a monument of deep psychedelic grooves and acid-drenched bangers towering above the dancefloor like a message from beyond. Astral Industries has been quietly shaping a corner of music that feels uniquely its own for over ten years. Based in London, the label has become a refuge for sounds that don't play by the rules—drone, ambient, dub, deep techno—all delivered with a sense of purpose and personality that's hard to find elsewhere. At the center of it all is Ario, the visionary behind the label’s distinct identity. To start 2025 in style, we're excited to share his mix as part of our "Delayed with…" series.

Ario's approach to music isn't about the obvious or the easy. His selections often veer into the experimental, finding connections in places others might overlook. Whether it's a drone, techno, or something that sits in the cracks between genres, he has a way of uncovering sounds that feel fresh and unpredictable. That instinct has made him a fixture at festivals like Paral.lel, Mostra, Moment, and La Nature just to name a few, where his sets are as much about exploration as they are about enjoyment.

This mix is a live recording of Ario’s set at La Nature Festival, nestled deep in a Belgian forest. Over two hours in the Hypnose Room, he built something that felt both strange and welcoming—layers of murk and mystery balanced by flashes of warmth and light. Tracks rise and fall like moments in a story, some tense and introspective, others breaking through with fractured grooves or shimmering synths that catch you off guard. What makes this mix so compelling is its sense of space—it feels expansive and intimate at the same time. There's a timeless quality to it as if it could belong as much to the future as the past. But it's never pretentious or overthought. Ario lets the music breathe, letting you take from it what you will.

Whether you're in the thick of the Hypnose Room or just sitting at home with a pair of good headphones, this set has a way of pulling you in if you let it. Hats off to Ario and La Nature Festival for creating something that feels real and alive, a reminder that originality still matters.

Delayed with... Ario (at La Nature Festival 2024)

For this special edition of the Bloom Loops podcast, we're honoured to welcome Ario — founder and curator of the acclaimed Astral Industries label. Widely respected for its impeccable curation and timeless releases, Astral Industries has carved out a unique space in the world of ambient and experimental electronic music, with each release offering a meticulously crafted sonic journey.

In this recording, Ario brings that same curatorial sensibility to the decks, guiding us on a deep and expansive journey. It begins with a psychedelic abduction to another world, and as the mix gradually unfolds you emerge into an expansive world of progressive and vintage tech house before dissolving into deep, swirling tribal techno. @hydrangeamusic ’s life as a producer and DJ began relatively recently, when in 2014 she began expressing the quietness, wonder and intensity of nature in techno. For this prodigious French talent, creating and selecting music is an act of entering a deeper dimension, both transcendent and grounded in the hypnotic beauty of the natural world.

As a producer, she has released her own productions – which are lucid, mesmerising, arresting – on @annulled_music, @two-two-records, and @silent-season.

As a DJ, she is equally inspired by the dancefloors she plays to across Europe as by the nature around her home. She describes this mix for Patterns of Perception as a musical trip for one of her walks in the forest, creating an inner journey while being connected with the surroundings.

To immerse yourself in Yu Su’s music is to give way to sensation, like closing your eyes to better feel the warmth of the sun. There’s a purity and lightness that emits from her melodies in which keys, woodwinds and drums melt into effortless rhythms. Organically groovy and powerfully transportive, Yu Su’s productions float between coasts, inspiring moments of reflection with their meditative quality. The Vancouver-based Chinese artist holds a unique perspective and highly personal voice, and has quickly gained recognition within the electronic music scene with releases on labels such as Arcane, Genero, PPU and Wichelrode. In addition to her solo work, Yu Su also produces under the moniker You’re Me alongside partner Scott Gailey, creating more experimental and downtempo takes on house music. As a DJ, Yu Su crafts evocative musical narratives which touch on memories and introspections, providing a small window into her world with every mix.

Recorded with the idea of representing the person she’s become over the past year, Truancy Volume 201 is a powerful reflection on Yu Su’s direct experience with loss and love. Opening with a Liszt piece which stands for her childhood, then moving on to an improvised midi-keyboard duet with her partner, through one of her very first records purchased after seriously getting into music, and ending with a track from a favorite director’s film A Brighter Summer Day, the mix, in Yu Su’s words, “wasn’t really curated by me, but for me.” It’s an honor to share this serene mix and a pleasure to have had some words with the brilliant artist.

Laffey - Forever Changing

Marie Wilhelmine Anders is a wanderer in music.

Since she was 5 years old, she has had violin and music theory lessons. But it was the piano that had to come into the house. For three years she taught herself and invented music whenever she came along. Her wish to study composition was fulfilled at the University Of The Arts Berlin, but only after a excursion into sound engineering, the East Berlin underground music scene (as a keyboarder) and drum playing. Her versatility was probably as much a part of her cradle as her enormous musical talent. She made excursions into sound art (sound installations in Berlin and Nuertingen) and could not be satisfied with writing a score. She therefore completed her music studies in Stuttgart, where she was able to realise her great talent for musical improvisation, her joy of movement and the desire to become a music teacher.

During this time, in addition to her solo activities as an improvisor (piano and electronics), she founded two ensembles - Unterton and Hammerhaus - which brought together groove and free-flowing improvised forms from different perspectives. She initiated and directed "momentmusik" - a "concert series for experimental and improvised music, visual arts, performance and language" at the "Theater Rampe Stuttgart", which established the connection between her ensembles and the national and international scene.

In 2005 she ended her concert activity and moved back to Berlin. She learned to play the electric bass, began producing her music with Cubase and publishing it under the pseudonym Marie Wilhelmine Anders.

She discovered the poems of Robert Louis Stevenson and began to develop her new electronic musical language along his verses. Marie's conceptual thinking and her craft as a modern classical composer allow her to congenially translate his lyrics into a modern electronic language, which is influenced by techno and electronica. She has released three albums since then. Particularly noteworthy among them are the 2020 releases on the Munich record label Broque: "Andersworld" and the recently released "Andersworld Remixes".



Her best friend writes:

"Marie works her way out of all restrictions and experiments with styles and musical directions. Whereby she adapts formal means and creates something very own. As always, I am impressed by her accuracy in everything she does. Marie is the secret phoenix among my friends, who puts on a new and even more splendid plumage after each ashes. I have great admiration for their consistency, uncompromisingness, unconditional honesty, absolute fidelity and loyalty. One speaks of the phoenix as an eternally youthful bird. And he can fly anyway. Only that it cannot be seen by everyone. But times are changing."

Sleeping Forest, is a newly welcomed ambient artist on Hadra Records. Her music combines influences from psychedelic rock and world music within the precision of electronic music. Her debut album « Rise of Nature » is about to be released on Hadra Records (15th february). The atmosphere developed is both haunting, melancholic and epic and her compositions are full of emotional melodies and evolving layers of synthesizers. It contains heady rhythms which puts in relief traditional drums and melodic arrangements that remind many musical styles such as classical, progressive rock, trip-hop or soundtracks. She also uses many samples of nature that bring total immersion into her very own universe. This album has been created to touch and rock its listeners into a world of fullness whose only Sleeping Forest has the secret.

Kalim & Marim is an EP about music, no big story behind it except passion for sound textures and audio travelling...
Recorded in 2019 and 2020, it includes many instruments, from many loops of Kalimba & Marimba (That gave the name to the EP), to guitars, bass guitars, percussions of all types, clarinet by Walass, random samples and synthesizers.

Da Iguana: 
"Glassy and woody textures are emphasized, recalling waters and forests, my favorite environments. For the funny story Leu Grouve was recorded on Walass’s studio, in a houseboat on La Garonne river in Bordeaux, France, really close to the water surface, hearing droplets and seagulls while the sun was setting. A magical moment we spent jamming with anything we could use in the small studio!! It’s also one of my first works going up in BPM throughout the track (from 85-86 to 100BPM).
Ambiantik is obviously an ambient track, cosy and organically textured, mixing ancient instruments from different parts of the world (ambient + antique).
Moa Tren will take you on an intercontinental aerial train, with mouth blown percussions and cloudy atmospheres.
At last Kalim & Marim is a swingy tune, super innocent, with a happy mood I am not so used too."
The release incl two remixes from our beloved friends who added their recognizable sound — Ohxalá made Leu Grouve even more groove and dance, and MAUGLI give a deep slowly instrumental version of the Moa Tren.

Meelk is the sublimation of the mind through music: an expression of emotions through a cathartic work, a singularity taking its essence through a multitude of sound universes. 
Passionate about sound design, he has gradually developed and cultivated an atypical sound identity thanks to an analogical and hypnotic sound, powerful, sometimes dark, sometimes luminous. Between Bass Music aesthetics, Experimental and Cinematic influences, he defies conventions and tries to write his own tale of modern electronic music.
In December 2018, he releases his first album "The Birth" on Hadra Altervision Records and starts touring in various parties and festivals such as the Hadra Trance Festival, a promotion night for the Outlook festival and the Citrik Birthday alongside artists such as Ed Rush or Monty, just to name a few.
In 2020, he offers us several releases and an emotionally charged EP called "Catharsis PT.1".
A second album is currently being composed. Meelk continues to deepen his narrative path: "On this album, I aim to put more emphasis on the cinematic and storytelling side. Currently in the sound research phase, I wish to explore other musical horizons while keeping my identity. I would also like to collaborate with instrumentalists in order to expand the sound palette of the concept".
When he is not busy composing music for the stage Meelk also work into composing music for video projects.

Netsh is back on Comic Sans Records and reveals another aspect of his musical personality. The powerful and cinematic sci-fi club music from "Cyberbass Transmission" EP makes way for "To My Creators", an ambient album dedicated to his parents in which he explores the tonal aspects of childhood memories and social distancing. To My Creators is an emotional ambient letter in which the sentences have been converted into melodies. As the words would not be accurate enough to express his feelings, Thomas W. Jagger chose the music to transcribe the complexity of his emotions.

Followers of ambient music will no doubt know Ario as the man behind @astralindustries, the revered label that fuses reissued work with new releases from some of the most exciting artists in the genre. Despite the challenges thrown up by 2020, this year alone has seen AI releases from @multicastdynamics, The Chi Factory and Waveform Transmission, among others, and 2021 already promises to be even more prolific for both the label and its boss. 

Yet London-based Ario is just as much a DJ in his own right, with a sound that evades neat categorisation: drawn to the “deeply ritualistic and primal” side of drone, yet partial to the occasional dance floor set, he is reluctant to get too concrete when discussing his own music. His Patterns of Perception 77 is designed to challenge the listener – built on the belief that, contrary to what many may think, an ambient set is not necessarily designed to soothe and subdue.
