Syntop Audio 41 – Sybil

A seasoned selector in her homebase of Naarm/Melbourne, Jazz (@spaceswithinspace) is a rising presence in the electronic music scene at large. A regular fixture on the radio (as PBS 106.7FM ‘Spaces Within Space’ host and resident on both Skylab and Hope Street) as well as in the booth at countless parties and events, her creative mixing style and quirky, always on-point selections have seen her become a much-loved contributor to the bustling Naarm/Melbourne scene.

Expertly blending bleepy synthesisers, broken percussion and playful psychedelia, Jazz’s Patterns of Perception 84 is a perfect snapshot of her idiosyncratic style and taste. Recorded on a dark and rainy morning during Melbourne’s recent fifth lockdown, this set steers Jazz's musical narrative into a dark, dystopian direction, offering an energetic interpretation of the unpredictable reality that we find ourselves in.

Its programming reflects the new alternative electro scene, cutting-edge and innovative, straying away from its dance music heritage.

Here is the ninth chapter of our podcast series, a new story told by @dj-heartbreak-berlin, committed record digger and music journalist based in Berlin.

For this episode, he wanted to refer to the classic tape format, therefore he imagined a two-sided mix. This meticulous blend of selected findings and oddities, features both the gloomy vibes and the hypnotic grooves that define Futurepast for him.

The first part takes you from the chilly shores of white noise and dramatic strings to the more electric and rhythmic lands of IDM and electronica. The second part is a progressive buildup of dub atmospheres and experimental beats, all finely sewed together to transport you in an alternative time.

New Palm's seasonal mix series is back after a year hiatus with our very own Penumbra, aka Alex Bautista. Alex has been part of New Palm since our start in 2018 when he lugged speakers up the Angeles Crest for our first mountaintop gathering (the speakers never made it, but Alex did).

Aderacid is a producer and DJ from France, Crest. Active on the local scene, Adrien is not just a DJ but a true performer, known for his captivating energy and his ability to connect with his audience. An expert in genres such as Techno, Ambient, IDM/Glitch, Experimental Electronic, Acid House, and Acid Techno, Aderacid is a musical chameleon who has made a mark on the electronic music scene with his distinctive style. He has performed under various renowned labels such as Electric Music Foundation and Moatun7, and is currently collaborating with EC Underground, continuing to expand his influence and push the boundaries of electronic music.
