Das Jackpot Soundsystem aus Mainz am Rhein existiert offiziell seit Winter 2004, und besteht momentan mit Jah Son, Simma und Smiling-T, aus 3 jungen Reggaefanatikern, die einen Großteil ihrer Freizeit der jamaikanischen Musik widmen.

Erfolgreich wird, bis dato, die monatliche Partyreihe “Wake the Town and Tell the People”im Kulturcafe des Mainzer Uni Campus betrieben, wobei der Schwerpunkt, bei Bookings von Gästen, auf Qualität statt auf zwangsläufig großen Namen liegt.

Durch Reisen nach Jamaika oder New York, sowie durch Aufnahmemöglichkeiten auf Festivals und Tourneen, hat sich mittlerweile auch die Dubplate-Kiste der Crew ausgiebig gefüllt. Somit konnten bisher 2007 die Vorrunde sowie das Finale der Uptown Skanking Clash Reihe in Heidelberg, und 2009 + 2010 der Destination Kingston Clash in Hamburg, gewonnen werden.

Jackpot steht für Reggae- und Dancehall-Entertainment auf höchstem Niveau, bei dem von Ska und Rocksteady, über Rub-A-Dub und Early Dancehall bis zu den neuesten Produktionen und Pre-Releases kein Wunsch offen bleibt. „Jackpot“ gilt in diesem Sinne als musikalischer Gewinn für alle und vor allem langjährige Fans können ein Lied davon singen…
