ONE ARMED LULLABY

2015 saw Stephan Bodzin release his second full length, “Powers of Ten”, as well as a new single on DJ Tennis’ and Tale of Us’ taste making label Life and Death. The album is another magical piece of work that focuses on melody and rhythm, on fat bass and vivid sound design and is a truly captivating journey through the mind, music, body and soul of one of dance music’s truly modern greats. After its release, a great team of modern music makers was enlisted to remix tracks from it: Maceo Plex & Shall Ochin, Fur Coat, Extrawelt, long time musical sparring partner Marc Romboy, Pan-Pot, Max Cooper, Agents of Time, Dominik Eulberg and many more all contributed to what is an essential collection. With a remix of ‘Sleepless’, a Pan-Pot track from their latest album, Stephan Bodzin closed the latest chapter of 2015 in what has been an exhilarating musical journey in his capable and creative hands.

Just last July Reboot dropped his delicious album ‘Alive’ on Get Physical Music featuring ‘Just Hang On’. The deep groove and satisfyingly dark ambience of the original caught the ear of Cologne based producer and DJ, Kölsch. He turns the original into a heavy late night affair, reminiscent of some of the classic techno of the past. Pure groove wrapped in a velvety pumping loop. The dub sticks a bit tighter to the dancefloor, with more emphasis on the rhythm and overall groove. Of course you’ll be able to pick up the original masterpiece while you’re at it, and if you haven’t heard it yet we can only RECOMMEND YOU GET ON IT :)

Just Hang On (Kölsch Remix)

Spanish label Sincopat calls on Avantroots and Seven Villas founder Pablo Boliver to remix on the latest release on the imprint, reworking a track from the recent Piek LP. Barcelona-based producer Boliver puts his magic touch to 'That's Me', which features the vocal tones of Jim Hast.

Speaking with When We Dip, Pablo explained "Nacho (Piek) sent me his upcoming album around a year ago, I was really impressed, listening it on heavy rotation: the production, the voices...impeccable. Some months ago he asked me to do a remix of one of the tracks, "no doubt bro, it's a pleasure". I love to remix tracks that have an important vocal work, and Jim Hast does so on "THAT’S ME’, I enjoyed every second working on this remix!"

Respected label Diynamic has announced the eighth edition of its popular ‘Four to the Floor’ series. 

The series aims to champion four productions that have been handpicked, road-tested and approved by label-boss Solomun. The ‘Four to the Floor’ EP series is comprised of four different dancefloor-orientated tracks from different producers, from upcoming talents to long-established electronic music artists. 

First up is ‘Zulu’ from Buenos Aires duo Brigado Crew and Argentinian producer Crisstiano. Drawing from their South American roots, ‘Zulu’ is a percussive track with a laidback yet exotic feel thanks to its echoing vocal samples.

Picking up the pace, German duo Adana Twins’ ‘Uncompromising’ features a driving bassline and clattering synths, building up in waves for a series of dramatic drops. 

Next up is Ukrainian duo ARTBAT & French producer Rafael Cerato with ‘Uplift’, a track that slowly builds ambience with flittering synths before plundering into a hefty low end. 

Rounding off the latest edition of ‘Four to the Floor’ is the atmospheric ‘Pretend To Fly’ from Definition. The 7-minute journey features wistful male vocals and distinctive arpeggios leading into the rich basslines characteristic of the Diynamic sound. With a relatively short career span, Definition has already had a slew of releases on Materialism and Underground Audio allowing his support to grow.
