Things just keep piling on and on and on.  Sometimes you gotta cut loose or feel the crushing weight of it all

Studio was occupied most of the night, so I wrote this one in an easy chair. Kept it very simple, but it's missing vocals, which I have a topline in mind that I tossed on a voice memo but not here.

Jamuary 29th 2025 The Sky is Full of Water

This was 3 different takes I tried to sync up and almost succeeded.  Just feels like a lazy drunk jam, which is a mood.

Barely any time with an instrument on Day 29, so straight to the phone (with some edits later). Had I been able to run with it, I'm sure I'd have got a quick song draft out of it. Still, maybe something here to work with in the future. 

Jamuary2025 Day 29 - scrunchy alt rock sketch

This is the last #jamuary2025 track. The track can be seen as both ambient and non ambient, at the same time, depending on how you approach it. It is a short edit, about half the length of the piece I composed. Due to some unexpected circumstances, my time to work on this was cut short. I'm publishing this as a teaser for the finished track which I plan to work on next month. #jamuary might be coming to an end, but I wanted to leave a door opened.

This track features an ARP 2600, a Jupiter 8, an Oberheim poly, some nice retro drums and percussions with some modular effects, some live processing done through a DAW.

Day 31! Another year of Jamuaries! Thank you to everyone who has listened or commented, and thank you to all my fellow Jamuarians for all the inspiration. This is one of my favourite times of the year, and the main aspect which I love is the community that we foster. 

This song is about endings, but the message is a positive one: our journey will end, but tomorrow is always another day, and in the grand scheme, it is just as meaningful as any other day. 

I wander home,
I will wonder where you go, 
I want for home,

There's so much to be done,

Remember when we watched the sun,
And it glows, oh it still glows,

So much I'd like to show you,

Jamuary 31st 2025 The Sun Sets to Rise on Another Day

This was meant to be a bouncy little celebratory thing--you can hear hints of that in the cheesy melody--and I'd thought I'd end the JAMuary challenge with a complete song. It had other ideas, I guess.
In any case, I made it--31 days of showing up to crack the surface, trust the process, run with whims (if not scissors), and make something. Thanks to all the remarkably supportive Jamuarians (how do you find time to listen and comment so much while making your own incredible stuff?--superhumans!) and to Brian Funk's inspiring podcast that first introduced me to this challenge several years ago. It's a life changing deal, and new every year. I hope we won't wait until next year to share more music, maybe even the more polished sort. 
I look forward to catching up on my Jamuary listening over the coming week.
