Louis McCoy is a master craftsman in every sense of the word. A legend of a human behind much loved local underground institutions the likes of Inner Varnika and For Home Use Only, and an expert on the tools be it in the kitchen or on a building site, Louis first and foremost is a passionate music obsessor with a savant like ear for records that cut deep. 

Sometimes found under the cheekier guise of hndsm, Louis seriously knows whats up when it comes to 90s music from the UK, and focusses his attention here on the massively influential sound of trip hop that he grew up nodding his head to as a teen. Treating us to near-on three hours of raw and dusty underground classics from the roots of the 90s Bristol trip hop movement, we find ourselves deep beneath the murky waters of the reggae and the shoegaze infused, to moments of heavy, emotion packed atmospheric soul and a healthy dose of the all out experimental. One for the OG chillout heads, this really is a trip like no other!

Driving, intricately mixed techno from Australian export Dane Frey

To relaunch his seminal imprint, Infrastructure New York, David Sumner aka Function presents his new 12", Green EP. Celebrating 27 years of Function releases this year and the label’s 25th anniversary, the label will serve as an outlet for his new material, reissues of out of print classics from Synewave, Sandwell District and Ostgut Ton (and of course, Infrastructure), as well as developing new artists and launching a long awaited Bandcamp page - exploring the annals of nearly three decades of the Function sound.
 
As a member of the Sandwell District collective, Function, from 2007 onward was instrumental in cultivating and ushering in a new sound of dark, cerebral hypnotica - forcing the hand of change in global techno. Green EP serves as a testament to this, further exploring these depths. The EP pays homage to the day when David arrived in Berlin with his green suitcase where his record “Isolation” on Sandwell District was released, hitting the ground running and spring boarding into an incredibly successful career, becoming a stalwart DJ/producer, after years as a struggling artist.
 
Green EP encapsulates the same raw power and hypnotic energy of his genre defining Sandwell District releases Isolation, Anticipation and Variance, updated with a modern flair. Subject f (Function) has clearly transcended, as expressed through the opening track “Initiation” arriving at his “New Designation”. On the b-side Function communicates his divine alignment through the broken beat, etheric “Aeternum (Meridian)”. Finally, Function closes Green EP with a live extraction of “Desire and Memory”, a brooding club stormer in contrast to the more experimental leanings of the original version, which appeared on Rrose’s label Eaux.
 
Next to releasing a new EP and restarting the label, an attached Bandcamp page and label webshop will be launched. These portals will in time see the release of previously out of stock releases as well as re-issues and unreleased Function material, next to new releases by other artists. No doubt fans will be excited!
 
One thing is clear: Function is back on track and more on form than ever!

Paul Lynch is a Melbourne DJ, Music Programmer and Techno enthusiast. 
A perfectionist behind the turntables, Lynch has built his career based on inspired track selections, exceptional technical ability and a knack for creating an electric vibe and energy on the dancefloor. 
His ambition to create something different amongst Melbourne's nightlife has drawn the praise of those amongst the scene and has seen him grow from strength to strength. 
Whether it's warming up the floor or closing after for the likes of DVS1, DJ Bone,
Answer Code Request, Marcel Dettmann, Matrixxmann nd_baumecker, Ryan Elliot, Norman Nodge, I Hate Models, Psyk, Mr G, Carl Craig, DJ HMC, Bloody Mary and Dr. Rubinstein, or headlining some of Melbourne's best underground events, Lynch nails his chosen craft of techno.
