Julius Jay - "Welcome To Delirium" (Prod. Madlib)

I really like the idea that insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I explored these feelings both on a personal level and societal level with this track. I improvised tons of vocals on an old bassline and mangled them as best I could using less than 5% of what I recorded in the final edit. I also used a really cool guitar sample that my best friend (http://www.blindmonkproductions.com/) recorded on an old dictation tape deck on a rainy afternoon. I really loved the "lo-fi" sound quality so I built a melody around that sample. Apart from the “no more reception” lyrics, that melody from the guitar sample is my favorite part of the track. The edgy & snappy synth sound before the breakdown happened by accident. I dropped the sample rate on the bassline by going crazy with the knobs and that just came out. I was entranced by that sound so I ran with it. 8S
