I actually wrote some lyrics for this tune. Unfortunately my voice didn't suit the track. I've had a couple of offers from singers to give it a go - I may give vocal recording a go at a later date.

In the meantime, I let the lead guitar do the talking..

"Walk Away!" .. those two words can be interpreted in many different ways.. "(Can't) Walk Away" was one of them..

Returning back to my roots a little here.. After "Walk Away" I wanted to experiment more with synth sounds, arpeggios and the likes. My goal was to create something smooth and relaxing that I'd almost classify as "bath tub music". At the end of the day, it's still "Paul music".

For me, this is an upbeat guitar track. I composed this tune around August 2019, recorded bass guitar on Boxing Day 2020 and finally recorded rhythm and lead guitar in May 2020 adminst COVID-19 lockdown. The track is not as progressive as my other pieces and a little more 'mainstream'.

Unlike most of my tunes, this one wasn't really planned - I did this "on the side" while recording guitar for "Lost In Time" which I still haven't published yet. "A Perfect Day" has definitely been the fastest tune I have published - written in under 3 weeks with only a few hours spent here and there.

It was rather spontaneous and happened at the crossroads of emotion.. joy..  and hope..

Deus Ex Machina is an arresting sonic and theatrical experience of man’s perennial struggle between fate and free will. Charged with both pathos and ethos, the song is a musical revisitation of classical literature’s greatest tragedy – the story of Oedipus Rex.

"Deus Ex Machina" tells the story of King Oedipus of Thebes, who despite all his efforts, ends up fulfilling the prophecy he was trying so hard to avoid: that he would kill his father and marry his mother.

Inspired by the sonnets of Shakespeare and the lyrical poetry of Ancient Greece, the lyrics tells the story of Oedipus Rex – a play by Sophocles written over two thousand years ago. The song is chanted and recited over the music much like in the chorus in Greek tragedy.

Released worldwide on September 18, 2020, "DEUS EX MACHINA" is the third single of The Chronicles of Manimal and Samara. The track forms part of the independently produced album ‘Full Spectrum'.
