Paul T & Edward Oberon are a production outfit who have been making some serious noise over the past 12 months. Following on from the debut Liquid V EP 'Colours Of The Sun' which was supported by Friction, Fabio, Bailey, Random Movement and more, and tracks on Chronic, the pair have now come of age with their first V Recordings single and they don't disappoint.

'Tempt' and 'I Still Love You' are atmospheric, bass heavy rollers packed full of dancefloor attitude and etherial vibes. Both tracks see one half of the production duo turn sublime vocalist, a trick which gives Paul T & Edward Oberon their own unique style, a style that fits seamlessly into the V catalogue like seasoned veterans on the label. A exciting sign on their first V single and a sure fire indication you'll be hearing a lot more from this duo in 2015.

Continuing on from the success of their double-sided release a little while back, and highlighting what a great fit they are with revered D&B label V Recordings, is production outfit Paul T & Edward Oberon. 

Exclusively signed with the platform, they deliver their latest collaborative EP on 8th July, which features three contrasting tracks.  The pair says of the short collection: “It’s almost a textbook of how we remain musically versatile, within the context of a consistently soulful sound. No matter what we do, we still want to maintain our identity. The idea is to allow listeners to absorb each song of the single as a cohesive experience within itself.” 

‘Stay Forever’ lands first, bursting with lightly flitting piano tones, soul-drenched vocals and a generous helping of feel-good soul. ‘Taking Over Me’ is more aggressive, with a stuttering bass line and almost hypnotic hooks of melody, whilst ‘Fire’ is an immersive, raw cut that combines a thunderous, drum-led intro with dark yet smoothly riding vocals. 

The EP moves with urgency, feeling, and melodic intensity; themes this duo explore with unique creativity and stellar production quality.

Marcin Czubala’s Your Mama’s Friend imprint goes from strength to strength with this, a new EP from Resketch, a producer who has risen through the ranks with fresh house and bubbly productions on labels like Well Rounded and Infinite Machine. 

Getting straight to it, the opening track ‘Yearner’ is a bright and polished, thoroughly new school bit of house that pairs some infectious garage hits with a catchy vocal hook. A swollen bassline carries the whole thing along as neon synths dart about in the spaces. ‘Werk’ again shows Resketch’s knack for designing great and unusual sounds. His synths are dazzling, the hits sound bubbly and distant and the results are purposeful as well as being full of mild euphoria. 

‘Linkway’ then goes deeper and more withdrawn, echoing voices creating an underwater feel as streamlined rubber kicks anchor you to a seabed. Pinging bass notes recall shades of the Bristol sound and the resultant effect is a sensuous and seductive groove. 

Closer ‘Livin‘’ is a big, swirling melange of deft synth details, gliding hits and liquid grooves. It swells then retreats throughout, allowing brief vocals to shine through the paddy rays of light before kicking once again. Resketch’s sound, like Your Mama’s Friend overall, is refreshingly modern and free from overtly familiar tropes... as such this EP might be the one that garners the man behind it the wider attention he deserves.

This EP is the outcome of a five month spanning transition between warm and bright summerdays to dark and dusky winterdays resulting in a change of moods that accompany this shift from lights, colours and sounds perceived everyday. It is a soundtrack made for commuting between different places in large urban spaces, filled by swarms of people shoaling and funneling across intersections, subway stations and central hubs like corpuscles pulsating in the cities veins, conducted by invisible algorithms in the symbiotic superorganism that is a metropole. 

<i>"I took a lot of inspiration from 3 main points of Tokyo City. There are traditional parks and shrines/temples that really take you away from the high rise buildings and make you feel like you could be in the countryside. Next, there are typical shops, neon lights, offices and general city life, and lastly, there is the red light area which is a great place to see all walks of life, from gangsters, working girls and strange things behind closed doors. I'm fascinated by this place, It seems like another world to me, I'm always drawn to it out of curiosity and the feeling I get while passing though is really inspiring."</i>
