Peruvian producer Lukrø has been an ever-present name on the Basy Tropikalne radio show in the past few years with original tracks, remixes and the curatorial work of his label Matraca (@matraca-netlabel). Now this collection is about to be enriched with an EP entitled simply 'Riddims' that explores the dembow genre in a somewhat dreamy and unique dub vibe and will be released via Spain's Caballito Netlabel, a true mainstay of the European global bass scene for over a decade now.

Peruvian producer Tribilin Sound was one of the artists at the forefront of the booming digital cumbia and global bass scenes in his country and now the Eck Echo label is about to pay tribute to his influential work by taking a deep dive into his catalogue - and giving it an extra little twist. 'Jalea Mixta' gathers some of the finest Latin American producers around - including Dengue Dengue Dengue, Loris, Mente Orgánica, Chancha via Circuito and more - who were invited to rework one of Tribilin Sounds' tracks from the past. Among them is 'Bilongo Con Sandunga', a song originally released on 'Aquí Siempre Bailamos' album back in 2014, which has now been remixed by Argentinian artist Tayhana who changed the original cumbia tune into a frenetic feast.

Ripio has been quite a figure on the Chilean music scene - be it as a part of the Merci & Marco duo, a member of a successful indie pop group chicarica or a founder of Santiago de Chile's Niebla studio where he's been working as a recording engineer. This week, however, the artist will add a new release to his bill as a solo artist - 'No digas cosas que no son' EP comes out in few days via Peruvian label Matraca and will feature this wonderfully crafted song 'Toma Chocolate' in which Ripio smoothly switches between dancehall and reggaeton, a testament to his skills as a producer.

Peruvian producer Hanuna continues his amazing year of surprising collaborations with Nyege Nyege-affiliated artists on the upcoming Matraca release 'Balandean'. After the East African excursion earlier this year when he met up with Tanzania's Jay Mitta to explore the frenetic genre of singeli, this time Hanuna heads west on an equally intensive journey to Mali where the balani legend DJ Diaki comes from - together they created both intercontinental and intergenerational EP in which West Africa meets Peru.

Featuring 8 different artists from Mexico to Lithuania, Peru, Portugal, Florida, UK and Belgium, ‘Maloca Vol. 1’ outlines the worldly focus of Le Motel’s new label. 

Launching Maloca Records earlier this year, the label’s ethos is to build bridges interlinking disparate yet like-minded musicians dedicated to blending organic electronic and acoustic elements. The global network of makers highlighted on Maloca Vol.1, the label’s first compilation, confabs a terrestrial and borderless percussive sound that has been bubbling in clubs and Le Motel’s orbit. 

Opening the compilation is esteemed Peruvian duo Dengue Dengue Dengue followed by Lithuania's DJ JM who has previously released on the likes of Nervous Horizon and Goon Club Allstars, Miami artist and NAAFI affiliate Nick León and Lisbon’s DJ N.K. On the second half of the compilation, there are contributions from the label founder himself, Mexico’s Omaar, UK’s Coen and mysterious artist Tsongo. 

Maloca Records has put out three vinyl releases to date from Oakland’s Farsight, Beijing’s Howie Lee and Le Motel. The label is quickly building a reputation for releasing brilliant forward-thinking club records whilst capturing specific international sounds.
