British maestro Massano follows up his ‘Solitude’ release with four fresh cuts full of wistful emotion and solemnity.

“Fluid Meditations” marks DJ Gigola's debut album, set to be released on the 3rd of February 2023.
In eight tracks she explores shared aspects of meditation and the dance experience, fusing them into a new form of introspective practice. Gigola expresses her approach through the lens of guided meditation with spoken word. Lyrically, she traverses three aspects in particular: awareness of the now, embodiment and unfolding of the ego. Her work presents these themes chronologically ordered in a continuous mix. The very personal compositions deliberately juxtapose leading themes of a virtual world, such as anonymity, the restlessness of online interaction, and the physical disembodiment.
We are guided through this process by her voice, which DJ Gigola places against a background of low-pass frequencies, field recordings, breathing techniques and ASMR. These are synthesised with a warp of organic percussions, goa, and psytrance - creating a meditation practice that goes beyond traditional methods by decontextualizing elements of rave as a catalyst for Gigola’s own exploration of escapism. Quite fittingly, she will debut her album in a live set at the 18th birthday of Berlin escapist club “Berghain” on the 11th of December.

'Another top class release comes our way from Dear Deer Records, this time they sign up Tvardovsky for a new EP that features three originals and one remix from Oliver Giacomotto. 

Depths of Consciousness is the opener and is a deep rolling bit of melodic techno. It has twinkling keys over soft drums and really cast a spell. The remix is more direct and frazzled, with seregated synths layered over the drums to make for a more immediate impact. Tvardovsky then offers the spaced out and ambient laced beauty of Millennium Falcon, with its step sequins and dreamy pads, then last of all Memories of Me is more upright, with a journey sci-fi atmosphere and rich keys again colouring the deep techno grooves.'

Premiere: Tvardovsky - Depths Of Consciousness [Dear Deer]

Two contrasting remixes of ‘Space Date’ come courtesy of Pleasurekraft and John Monkman, as the three-way collaboration between Adam Beyer, Layton Giordani and Green Velvet continues to thrill. Joining the strong reworks is an unexpected treat for fans; a last-minute inclusion of a fresh new original track from the trio.

Drumcode got its first taste of Pleasurekraft’s unique production touch in 2016 when ‘Dopefield’ dropped on ‘A-Sides Vol.5’. The Swedish/American duo’s exploration of cosmic techno realms made them the ideal candidates to re-work ‘Space Date’. Their contribution is as visceral as they come; defined by a hypnotic vocal arrangement, a stirring call and response melody and propulsive galloping beats fashioned for peak-time moments. No surprise it was a highlight of Adam Beyer’s Ultra Resistance sets and gobsmacked Maceo Plex who requested a promo to play at Time Warp a week later.

Meanwhile Drumcode debutant John Monkman steps up with a very different, but not less deadly reinterpretation of ‘Space Date’. The Brit has impressed in recent times with strong releases on Ellum, Kompakt and his own Beesemyer imprint, and takes this form into DC207. His is a twisted intergalactic re-rub drenched in warped electro, blistering modular sounds and touches of IDM that manages the difficult task of taking the original to darker, more leftfield realms without ever losing its powerful dancefloor pulse.
