West to East is about two things. First is my personal journey in life. It’s symbolic in that there are three major movements to the song, representing youth, coming of age and eventually maturity.

It’s also about my background; coming from Appalachia, bluegrass, roots music, etc. But also the influence of other cultures, specifically music and how we blend our experiences together into what becomes our own song. So, the midwest meets the middle east…

Not all life's moments are
part of your soul's plan.

Not all people are good,
Not all people are bad.

If life brings you honey,
Know it came from the busy bees.
Sometimes it's bittersweet
And brings you to your knees.

But the sun will always rise,
Your soul always flies.

There's nothing I can say,
That would properly convey,
the endless, love I have for you.

No matter what life brings,
Nothing can break you.
Nothing will last forever.

I will always love you,
as the sun always rises.

You may be bruised, hurt or mistreated.
I cannot guarantee a life of peace.

But the journey is about learning,
To appreciate the ups, downs,
The smiles and the frowns.

Because without the dark,
The light cannot be seen.

Our bond is unbroken my love,
My daughter, my blossoming dove.
