The Informations - Lion's Hand

Clément Bazin est plus qu'un beatmaker. Bien plus. Si sa musique s'approprie une rythmique et des sonrotiés hip-hop, le producteur refuse pour autant de faire dans la simplicité et joue à présent le rôle d'homme orchestre.

Professeur de SteelPan au conservatoire et encadrant de "pan bands" depuis des années, il développe une sensibilité musicale inouïe à travers un mélange des genres inédits. Beatmaking, mélodies fragiles au piano, inspirations techno, la sauce prend! Le steelpan enfin prend sur ce second opus une place primordiale, créateur de rythmiques folles et développeur de sonorités métissées.

Ce nouvel EP invite au voyage et à la rêverie. Développé autour du thème de la nuit, il imbrique une série de morceaux qui nous entraîne dans les différences ambiances que chacun d'entre nous est amené à vivre, tard le soir quand le Monde dort. D'un appartement minuscule où règnent solitude et cendriers remplis, Clément s'échappe avec l'auditeur dans son sac, vers une plage d'Acapulco où le coucher de soleil et les caïpirinhas nous font tout oublier...

"Retiree are a modern band for a modern age. Excellent music, and excellent values. 

Last year the four piece band released their debut EP on Sydney’s Plastic World, a perfectly measured mix of summery synth pop and tropical disco. It was called "Together", and it brought unity and feelings of shared happiness to nightclubs and pool parties everywhere.

"Altruisme" is their latest single, and another sure sign that Retiree are only looking out for us. The track combines vintage machine drum rhythms, new wave guitar licks, the sounds of the sea, and some haunting French vocals to create a slow funk jam. If "Together" was the sound of last Summer, "Altruisme" brings us Spring. If things couldn't get better, it's also a free download via the band's Facebook page. Retiree - Altruisme

The 9th and final track of 'Carl Marks,' this track is one that I've recorded a number of times, and have added and taken away lyrics, but have finally decided to just do an instrumental. This is also one of only three tracks on the release that I do all instruments on.
