Patrick Topping returns to Hot Creations with his 'Taking Libz EP' and demonstrates why his reputation carries such weight with three special tracks that act as a master-class in how to create music that will consume dance floors.

First up is 'Brayed' which takes the listener on a loopy and enriching journey, whilst 'Howk' is a classic foot-to-the-floor number. Concluding the EP is 'Taking Libz', the title track that sees Topping firmly hold onto his crown with this unstoppable cut.

i-D Magazine described Patrick’s style "that is characterized by punchy, chugging baselines that have become weapons in the sets of many a DJ." Started his career DJing at the club night Motion in Newcastle, he was quickly snapped up by Jamie Jones, for Hot Creations. Releases on the label and a residency at Paradise DC10 in Ibiza soon followed and 2014 saw him release ‘Get Beasty’, ‘Forget’ and ‘Voicemail’ featuring Green Velvet and concluded with a hattrick of awards including winning the DJ Mag Best Newcomer, Track Of The Season and Best Tune awards in their Best of British Awards.

This time we asked our good friend Leonardo Gonnelli to be your musical guide through this twisted journey of tech house grooves and tribal rhythms. The resulting mix is a seamlessly blended snapshot of the Deeperfect sound and it is available as a curated DJ mix or individual tracks for your listening pleasure.
Leonardo presents 11 top-shelf previously unreleased cuts that are set to rock Playa Del Carmen to the core. Acclaimed breakthrough DJ/Producer PAWSA makes his Avotre debut with the huge, club-ready two track EP 'False Start' - Set to have a huge impact on dancefloors across the clubbing spectrum. 

Title track 'False Start' opens with a deep, gritty bassline and up front vocal loop that quickly sets the pace of the track and overall release, before a series of masterfully placed beat interchanges further bolster the track's big room capabilities. Further intricate synths and several huge drops go on to provide further club ammunition and lay testament to PAWSA's continued development as one of the scene's hottest new artists. 

Rounding off the release is seismic B-Side 'Wet Paint'. Brining a soulful element to the powerful drum interludes, PAWSA takes the whole release in far more jackin' direction with this track. Effortlessly layering cleverly looped vocal stabs over the weighty bassline, PAWSA adapts his unique production aesthetic to the Avotre sound and makes a very welcome addition to the label's now seminal repertoire of artists.

FALSE START

Solid Grooves has built a strong following of loyal fans over the years. Starting out as an event series, the London based brand has since achieved global success including a prevalent Ibiza residency last year. Launching as a label in 2015, it wasn’t long before Solid Grooves Records topped Beatport’s overall charts with Wade’s remix of Dennis Cruz ‘See Line’ and cemented its reputation as an infallible imprint, releasing music from names such as Kuo Climax, ONNO, David Pher and Brett Gould.

Dennis Cruz leads the way with ‘Fake’, a vocal focused track with throbbing bass, chopped up samples and infectious percussive components before Franz Costa’s ‘Kate’ blends a medley of intricate rhythmic elements for a trippy low-slung production.

The label co-founders are up next, with Michael Bibi unleashing a roaring low-end in ‘Devil’s Candy’ whilst a spoken word sample operates through, making way for PAWSA’s ‘Taking Over’ – an atmospheric house track geared for powerful subs featuring dub inspired stabs and sharp hats. Reelow then concludes the package, demonstrating his signature style with a cacophony of percussion and mesmerizing effects.
