Michael Bibi returns to his Solid Grooves imprint with the long-awaited drop of ‘Shaolin Dreams’.

With summer in full swing and dancefloors re-opening across the globe, Solid Grooves co-founder Michael Bibi drops another cut from his long-list of highly-requested unreleased productions as late July finally welcomes the arrival of the unorthodox and impactful ‘Shaolin Dreams’.

A vibrant production journeying through a wealth of global influences, contrasting sweeping melodies with impactful kicks and deviating martial arts samples, ‘Shaolin Dreams’ showcases the London talent at his best once again as he makes another big statement on home turf.

Italian-born artist Riva Starr collaborates with New York-based DJ and producer Todd Terry on This Is The Sound. Previously, the pair have remixed each other’s solo productions, but their joint project on Hot Creations signifies a new beginning for the acclaimed producers.
Riva Starr talks about the significance of collaboration.

“Todd has been an inspiration since my early steps in house music,” he says. “With this EP, I just wanted to re-create some of the early house vibes with a modern twist. Feels good to have been able to collaborate with such a legend!” Together, the pair bring Riva’s vision to life on the title track, weaving a classic-house-tinged melody with crisp claps, penning an irresistible groove. Peak-time in every sense of the word. Riva Starr serves his solo offering on Creator, evoking a darker vibe. Chugging drums thump between a squelchy acid melody, paying homage to the birth of acid house in the late 80s, chopped with more contemporary textures.

Based in East London, Riva Starr’s roots lie in Naples, Italy. Having moved to London in 2008, Riva immersed himself in the UK tech house scene, playing across the country in Printworks, Motion, and Orange Yard to further afield in Pacha, Watergate, and Space Miami. As a multi-dynamic producer, Riva’s discography boasts remixes of work by Dennis Ferrer, Fatboy Slim, and Claptone and solo releases on Defected, Black Book Records, and his own Snatch! Records imprint. Grammy Award-nominated artist Todd Terry is a stalwart on the global house scene, breaking through in the mid-90s with the classic house heater “Keep on Jumpin” ft. Martha Wash and Jocelyn Brown. Since then, Todd has produced a colossal body of work on Defected, Inhouse, Freeze Records, and several others, keeping his sound aligned with his New York heritage and reinventing it with a fresh flavour.

Needing little introduction for both track and artists involved, Solid Grooves opens 2023 with one of the most highly anticipated ID requests from founder Michael Bibi's sets across the past 18 months. An instantly recognisable production which has soundtracked nights at The Grooves Motel at DC-10 through to ELOVATE events across the globe in London, New York, Buenos Aires and Tulum, early March finally sees the release of 'Different Sides' as Bibi partners with emerging Mexican DJ/producer and Solid Grooves artist Kinahau for the impactful 'Different Side' - featuring UK dance mainstays Audio Bullys.

Harnessing iconic vocal from Audio Bullys' 2003 single 'We Don't Care', Bibi and Kinahau transport things into a new realm across 'Different Sides', employing skippy drums, icy hats and a menacing bassline - coupled with a few signature percussion fills - for a peak-time anthem loaded with energy.

Reelow returns to Solid Grooves with his latest single 'M.O.N.E.Y.', featuring Samira.

A longstanding member of the Solid Grooves family, Records boss Reelow has always been an artist who balances influences from electronic realms through to rap and hip-hop to create dancefloor-driven material made to move dancefloors. Returning to the label for the first time since 'Chit Chat' last summer as part of 2022's Ibiza Sampler, he returns in signature style with his latest single 'M.O.N.E.Y.'.

Harnessing Samira's hooky vocals and weaving them amongst bumping drums grooves, snaking electronics and rumbling sub-bass, 'M.O.N.E.Y.' is another production set to make an impact as Solid Grooves continue to unveil a long list of heavily requested gems.
