"The idea behind “The Being Of The Beautiful” was to catch the beauty of rivers combined with the idea of beauty itself. 
Rivers are in the center of the creative process and because I have always lived close to waters they have a big impact on me and my work. During my process, water became more and more a symbol for impermanence. Rivers, taken as a metaphor for human relationships, are marked by change, are constantly floating, and come never to a standstill. Their being is fragile in a way and relationships are the same. As damageable as rivers and relationships are, as fragile is the music found on the album. The album reflects upon the difficulties of relationships which mirrors a central theme in popular music. The changeableness of bonds between two people helped to create the sound of the album. The romantic motives fit into the surroundings of Greifswald the album was created in, the same city Caspar David Friedrich - one of the best known art romanticist - lived in. 
Influenced by the atmosphere of the place and continuing to thinking over rivers and their being I reconsidered the idea of romance as such and draw my conclusion in the form of this very album. This is my understanding of beauty, of the idea of the beauty. The impermanent affection of rivers and experience made helped to create this work and led to this present album."

The Austin-based band formed in 2012 as Alton Jenkins and Bill Kenny began writing and recording what later evolved into their debut EP, which was self-released in the summer of 2013. They added bassist Jeremy Humphries to the lineup and vocalist Angie Kang found them later after months of writing. 'Special Victim,' their forthcoming debut full-length on Bloodmoss Records, was recorded and mixed by This Will Destroy You’s Alex Bhore in a funeral-home-turned-studio owned by producer John Congleton. With the creative tools at hand, Future Death took a bright, explosive approach on 'Special Victim.' Like the band’s overall creative process, the concept of impulse is apparent throughout album itself. There’s not much time to breathe, and that’s exactly why it is such a thrilling and powerful listen.

Future Death - Basements

The histories of new collaborations birthed out of the photo books of futures past often comes over the strong bonds of shared familiarities, and the process of new dynamic discoveries. To hear it from Mark Van Hoen [Black Hearted Brother, Locust, Scala, Seefeel, and so forth], about his formidable beginnings in his high school sprung band, The Occasional Garden; “we discovered we had a mutual love for Cocteau Twins, and decided to form a band.” An early group founded by his school friends Mark Clifford, and Martin Maeers; Van Hoen talks about near signings with Stevo Pearce’s Some Bizarre Records, and upbringing of being “quiet kids” in a rough school; “doing our best not to be noticed by the punks & skinheads.”

Onward through the 90s of starting groups from Scala, Locust, solo work, collaborative work on Black Hearted Brother and more; the hometown connection endured through the new beginnings and group transitions. From sessions scattered throughout the oughts to present day; Van Hoen gathers again with Martin Maeers and also joined by Rachel Davies of Esben & The Witch, Neil Halstead & Al Forrester, Angus Finlayson, amongst other friends. “A convergence of different musicians, places, atmospheres and times”, Mark V.H. describes it, “I like it when all these things are knitted together to create a music that would not be possible by a group playing together in a room.”

The Drowned World

This is the intro track from my debut album 'A Good Land, An Excellent Land' released last year. The piece was written as a graphic score for harmonics on Cello, Violin & Double-bass, accompanied by bowed guitar & electric bass. It was ironically the last track recorded on the album & a really special moment when all the parts were first heard together, extending beyond my expectation for the opener. If you buy the CD you also get the seamless design by which this runs directly into track two & the last track runs back into this when on looped playback. It could well be my favourite moment of the albums conception. Cover photo is by Oscar May at Union Chapel.

Maria Minerva - The Beginning *promo

Lost & Compiled is a CD that Taylor Deupree has been wanting to make for years and, finally, as part of his 2014 Japan tour (with Illuha, Stephan Mathieu and Federico Durand) it has come to light. The album was debuted at the venues of the tour and in an attempt to keep the release on the quiet side will only receive a small amount of Japanese distribution and otherwise only be available in the 12k shop and not through 12k’s regular distribution channels.

Lost & Compiled is a collection of early mixes of songs from the past few years as well as some previously unreleased works. The concept for the release came from the idea that songs that Deupree writes go through so many permutations that by the time they are released they have left behind a trail of ghosts. Sometimes when he goes back to early and rough mixes of songs he will hear something more relaxed, free, and less perfect... a point in the song’s life where the stress of finishing it or the polish of a “final” mix hasn’t yet taken place.

The songs on this album are just that; tracks in earlier states of completion or entirely different versions that never made the final cut. It’s an interesting look at what gets left behind and buried that are no less powerful (sometimes even moreso) than the final cuts.
