"The idea behind “The Being Of The Beautiful” was to catch the beauty of rivers combined with the idea of beauty itself. 
Rivers are in the center of the creative process and because I have always lived close to waters they have a big impact on me and my work. During my process, water became more and more a symbol for impermanence. Rivers, taken as a metaphor for human relationships, are marked by change, are constantly floating, and come never to a standstill. Their being is fragile in a way and relationships are the same. As damageable as rivers and relationships are, as fragile is the music found on the album. The album reflects upon the difficulties of relationships which mirrors a central theme in popular music. The changeableness of bonds between two people helped to create the sound of the album. The romantic motives fit into the surroundings of Greifswald the album was created in, the same city Caspar David Friedrich - one of the best known art romanticist - lived in. 
Influenced by the atmosphere of the place and continuing to thinking over rivers and their being I reconsidered the idea of romance as such and draw my conclusion in the form of this very album. This is my understanding of beauty, of the idea of the beauty. The impermanent affection of rivers and experience made helped to create this work and led to this present album."

Deep Chrome Canyons - taken from "The Being of the Beautiful" ILYA005

This is the intro track from my debut album 'A Good Land, An Excellent Land' released last year. The piece was written as a graphic score for harmonics on Cello, Violin & Double-bass, accompanied by bowed guitar & electric bass. It was ironically the last track recorded on the album & a really special moment when all the parts were first heard together, extending beyond my expectation for the opener. If you buy the CD you also get the seamless design by which this runs directly into track two & the last track runs back into this when on looped playback. It could well be my favourite moment of the albums conception. Cover photo is by Oscar May at Union Chapel.

Beginning

Lost & Compiled is a CD that Taylor Deupree has been wanting to make for years and, finally, as part of his 2014 Japan tour (with Illuha, Stephan Mathieu and Federico Durand) it has come to light. The album was debuted at the venues of the tour and in an attempt to keep the release on the quiet side will only receive a small amount of Japanese distribution and otherwise only be available in the 12k shop and not through 12k’s regular distribution channels.

Lost & Compiled is a collection of early mixes of songs from the past few years as well as some previously unreleased works. The concept for the release came from the idea that songs that Deupree writes go through so many permutations that by the time they are released they have left behind a trail of ghosts. Sometimes when he goes back to early and rough mixes of songs he will hear something more relaxed, free, and less perfect... a point in the song’s life where the stress of finishing it or the polish of a “final” mix hasn’t yet taken place.

The songs on this album are just that; tracks in earlier states of completion or entirely different versions that never made the final cut. It’s an interesting look at what gets left behind and buried that are no less powerful (sometimes even moreso) than the final cuts.

Artist: Andy Green [Verdant Recordings / Vertex ]

Auditory journey number 18 to the musical Frontier is piloted by our good friend and musical aficionado , Verdant Recordings chief groundsman - Andy Green.   

Andy has already featured on one Dub Explorations show and two different Quadrasphere mixes. As well as playing live for us at our Eastern Bloc events,  so we thought it was due time he stepped up and presented his Frontier.

  As far as musical compatibility goes, Andy aligns with ourselves as well as anybody we know. His depth of knowledge in terms of the deeper shades of house and Techno is second to none. A long time collector and even longer time raver, he has spent years really refining his tastes and it shows across all of his musical output. Everything he touches turns to Green (GOLD). He has a huge variety of mixes and videos on his socials  but all of them are done with a touch of class. Nothing ever feels hurried out of place, instead his contributions to this scene of ours and measured and well thought out.

  In terms of his label - Verdant, again it’s a classy affair. From the first release back in 2016, through to the most recent, every EP is packed with musical goodness. Very much a case of all killer no filler. Combined with constantly interesting and evolving Artworks, it’s a match made in heaven.   

As for this submission to the Frontier, Andy once again produces the goods. Just over two hours of all realms of deepness, touching on house techno and every obscurity in-between.   

We are blessed to be able to call Andy our friend and thank him for all of our collaborations over the years, here’s to many more.

DJ Balaton continues to carve out his part in the puzzle with a fresh 4-tracker on LQL <3. With a nostalgic nod to Frankfurt, the producer shows that it doesn’t take much, just the right touch, to install a badass groove. Spacious arrangements and carefully placed synths turn the EP into an echo of a different time in the club.

The title track “Back To The Mood” orbits around that secret open-air energy - one of those full-circle cuts for the crew. You are missing the water, baby is all there is to say about “Flow Key”, rolling away at 127, disguised but with energy. “Reso 02” is the track we all wanted to finish but never did, grooving along with restrained intensity, shaping the EP into something personal and unique. Closing off, “Push Yourself” is Geoff White meets Herbert in a club-ready outfit.
