MATEO KINGMAN PRESENTS “RELIGAR” AND KICKS OFF A NEW ERA IN SOUND
 
With his new sound, Mateo Kingman turns snake and constantly sheds his skin. After the successful debut album “Respira”, he’s back with more vocal power and poetry. “Religar” is our first glimpse of a more mature, honest Mateo, searching within for new sonic destinations. Experimenting, rhyming, putting it all together to take it all apart. He moves us, he makes us move, and gets right under our skin.
 
“Religar” is the first single from Mateo Kingman’s new album, set for a 2019 release. A blend of profound, cosmic lyrics with cutting edge, eclectic production, synths exploring organic beats and melodies. “Religar” means “putting the parts back together again, returning to unity after it’s all fallen apart.” The track will be available on all digital platforms on October 30. 
 
The video was directed by filmmaker Ana Cristina Barragán. Mateo approached her because “she has a sensitive outlook when it comes to dealing with tough subjects. She’s very subtle. We connected on a very deep level when it came down to writing the script and also when we edited the material. Ana directed three and a half minutes of overwhelming, authentic feelings about getting back to the essence of who you are.” 
 
The video was shot in Quito and in Valle de los Chillos, Ecuador. Ana Cristina comments “it’s a portrayal of a group of teenagers whose faces and bodies betray an inner wound that can’t be seen, but it can be felt. Through caring for each other, through dance, disturbing games and snakes, these teens vent with a sensation of abandonment and freedom, attaining a new state of euphoria, reconnecting with each other and with their own essence.”
 
On working with Mateo, the director said “he invited me to direct this project. He’s a very sensitive, very perceptive artist. We wrote the script together and I had all the freedom I needed in the direction process. There was a strong bond of trust between the two of us. Directing a music video is different to directing a film, but I liked working with the feelings that this powerful melody and lyrics inspired in me. As well as the creation of the visual universe, there was some deep rehearsal work and a search for authentic feelings that somehow gets through to the viewer.”

Mateo Kingman’s second album promises to be a deep journey into sound 

With this second album, Kingman goes on a journey from the conception of the human being as a separate entity. He goes through the tough task of accepting that we have neither control over nor responsibility for our existence. And then he reaches the peak moment of the disappearance of the ego, becoming part of the cosmos, part of the whole, to finally return to the earthly realm, as a human once again, but more present, vital, and with a new knowledge: “We are an infinite thread of colors in the grand project.”

It’d be a laborious task to run through all of Fritch’s many accolades, since 2009 he has released over 20 albums and composed music for over 30 feature films and more than a hundred short films. Lost Tribe Sound has been by his side since the beginning, releasing a few of his finest stand alone scores, including the critically acclaimed, ‘The Waiting Room’, ‘Eagle Hunters in a New World’, and ‘The Old Believers.’ Of course, LTS could boast for days about what a musical genius we believe he is. Yet, having written so many of these press rants for Fritch in our time, we’ll try to curb ourselves at the risk of preaching to the choir or sounding disingenuous.

That isn’t to say, Fritch isn’t well deserving of mountains of praise. We are honestly amazed that his film music hasn’t attracted the attention of more major motion picture studios. To date, Fritch has penned imaginative and impressive scores for narrative and documentary productions that run the gamut of most every imaginable genre and aesthetic. From raw and emotional films that uncover startling humanitarian and ecological crises, such as 2016’s Oscar-nominated short film ‘4.1 Miles,’ and National Geographic’s sweeping ’Into The Canyon,’ to eccentric and nuanced biopics and documentaries on figures such as Ursula K LeGuinn, Bill Nye and Johnny Cash. Fritch has found unique and artful voices for these wide ranging stories.

Most of those familiar with Fritch, know only of his albums as a singer songwriter or genre-elusive multi-instrumentalist, which truly represent a small fraction of the depth and range of his work. ‘Deceptive Cadence…’ gathers the most remarkable and memorable pieces from Fritch’s vast catalog of film compositions. Rather than filling up two volumes with half assembled film cues and fragmented themes, Fritch has gone to great lengths with ‘Deceptive Cadence…’ to make sure both volumes tell a story, build theme, and create a satisfying full album experience as good as any movie they may have come from. While this music once graced a particular film, show, or commercial, it has all been reimagined, reworked and made whole in post-production to complete the epic narrative of ‘Deceptive Cadence…’

Stanley Brinks is joined by The Wave Pictures for their fifth album together; and their first since 2015’s “My Ass”. That’s not to say either have been slacking in that time, both are notoriously prolific: The Wave Pictures have turned out 5 albums and Brinks 7 since they last came together in the studio.

Stan arrived at the studio with several CDs worth of unrecorded songs on a balmy North London night and instructed The Wave Pictures to pick out some favourites to jam during the following three nights of recording sessions.

To anyone familiar with Stanley Brinks' huge discography - more than 100 albums - it might sound more raw in a way, less sophisticated than some of his other recordings. It's still rich in jazzy sounds and original structures however, the songs looser and full of playfulness, with the lyrics carrying the essence of the songs.

Tequila - the drink - was obviously the inspiration for the album. While writing, and while recording.

Stanley Brinks was born in Paris, France, in 1973. He studied a bit of biology and worked as a nurse for a while. Half Swedish, half Moroccan, strongly inclined to travel the world, he soon began spending most of his life on the road and developed a strong relationship with New York. By the late 90s he’d become a full time singer-songwriter – André Herman Düne – as part of three piece indie-rock band, Herman Düne. Several albums and Peel sessions  later and after a decade of touring Europe, mostly with American songwriters such as Jeffrey Lewis, Calvin Johnson and early Arcade Fire he settled in Berlin. The early carnival music of Trinidad became a passion, and in the early 21st century he became the unquestioned master of European calypso, changing his name to Stanley Brinks. Under this moniker he has recorded more than 100 albums, collaborated with the New York Antifolk scene on several occasions, recorded and toured with traditional Norwegian musicians, and played a lot with The Wave Pictures.  

The Wave Pictures are David Tattersall, Franic Rozycki and Jonny ‘Huddersfield’ Helm. Formed in 1998 when Franic and David lived in a village called Wymeswold, the band played with several drummers until Jonny became a permanent member in 2003 replacing Hugh J Noble. In the beginning the band learned to play together by covering Jonathan Richman songs but soon David was writing lots of original material. 
They have since released six  studio albums to critical acclaim and played numerous sessions on BBC 6 Music, Radio 1 and Xfm. Interest generated from these recordings has enabled The Wave Pictures to play shows all over the world with artists including Jeffrey Lewis, Darren Hayman, Stanley Brinks, Freschard and Herman Düne.
